Need help, can only do one - MGM or Epcot??

I would definitely do MGM. My kids (DD 9 & DS 5) would be bored to tears at Epcot. It is more of an "educational" park, and we perferred to be entertained. I know a ton of people love Epcot. In the past when we were at Epcot we found ourselves bored because of all the "stimulation" you get from the other parks that you don't get here. I know Epcot offers Test Track and Mission Mars, but to me that's not enough to dedicate a day to the park.

You are forgetting about Soarin'! Any grandma would love Soarin'. That is reason enough for me to go to EPCOT.

Wow, thanks for all of the responses. Still not sure what we will end up doing. If we do go to Epcot, we will definitely have to get a wheelchair for grandma (thanks for the link) and although she isn't into any of the rides, she really doesn't care where we go. She just likes to be with us. I took the kids to MK the last couple of times we were at WDW (we go a couple times a year for short trips) so that is why we are only going to it for half a day this time. The kids actually picked AK over MK so it will be nice to hit MK at night at least. We really can't do both MGM and Epcot though, that would just be too much for Grandma. All that extra walking from buses/boats to entrances.

I'm such a creature of habit and without the option of doing both Epcot and MGM it makes me nervous to try something new. Maybe that is why we've never made it to Epcot! I guess we need to try it sometime so I can find out for myself! So many of you love it.

If Grandma doesn't like the rides, then Epcot is a much better option. In MGM, she would be sitting outside waiting for you all the time, whereas at Epcot, she would most likely enjoy everything...with the exceptions of Test Track and Mission Space. I would recommend that she try Soarin though, unless she has a great fear of heights. It is beautiful.

If your children prefer AK over MK, they may also really appreciate Epcot. It is more of a learning experience, like AK, and it is less frantic than MK and MGM. Plus, the food options are far more plentiful and better in Epcot than MGM, if that is of any concern to you. Illuminations is a Do Not Miss!

I feel I have to post due to the view that kids don't like Epcot. There is so much to do in both Innoventions buildings -- photo emails, video games, house of the future, DDR, etc. Soarin' and Turtle Talk with Crush are excellent for kids of all ages. Ellen's Energy Adventure is good for dino lovers (not scary like Dinosaur), and then there's Test Track. If you're too chicken for Mission Space, the exit area has a great climbing area for little ones and more video games. In the World Showcase learn about making the masks. Each country has a Kidcot station with markers and a special thing to add to the mask. There are characters, Pooh or Mary Poppins in England, Beauty and the Beast in France, Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco, Snow White in Germany, etc. The films in Canada, France, China, and Norway are excellent. And there are water rides in Mexico and Norway (plus a Viking ship playground). This is probably why so many say it takes two days to do Epcot well. And I haven't even mentioned IllumiNations until now!!!
