It looks like DH's brother and his family may be joining us for 1 day at the parks. I sent SIL email asking if she, BIL and their 4-year old daughter would like to join us for dinner at Goofy's Kitchen for a birthday celebration for DS. They live in LA, so it's a quick trip for them. SIL emails back saying that sounds great, and are thinking of coming to join us at the park that day. My niece hasn't been to DL before, so it would be her 1st visit.
Normally, I'd be very happy to spend time with them and know the kids would have fun together too. However, we have only 3 days at the parks and try to make the most of our time there. We try to have a plan of attack (fastpasses, top attractions for the day, dining, etc.) and with our kids getting older (DD11 and DS5) they're wanting to go on some more of the faster rides. I feel horrible saying it, but I feel like spending a day with them would slow us down. Especially with my niece experiencing her first visit, going at a slower pace, and wanting to spend time at the younger aged attractions. Now, I think this is exactly what they should do, for a first visit, and they have every right to go at her pace and needs. But, having been to the parks a variety of times throughout the years, I don't really don't want to spend our time doing that. Plus, they're sort of anti-Disney, or at least have given me that impression before. Would it be horrible to split up with them some of the time?
DH thinks I'm bonkers for stressing over this, but I'm trying to figure out which day would be better to have them join us. It will have to be either a Sat or Sun (we'll also be there on Monday) and it will be Veteran's Day weekend, so either day will be crowded. They'll probably want to spend the bulk of their time at DL. Are Saturdays more crowded for DL? Add into the dilemma is that Sunday is "Bat's Day", so DL might be more crowded with lots from this event too.
If we ask them to join us on Saturday (they're open to either), then it would be our first day at the parks on this trip. I'm betting that our kids will want to hit DL first too (and we can get DS a birthday button too). We'll do Goofy's for dinner (which might be better for them to do this Sat too, come to think of it). Then, Sunday just our ohana can start at DCA and Monday is up for grabs.
Does that sound reasonable? I know I sound rather obsessive about all of this, and I apologize for my ranting on. Rather than keep asking DH about it (his response: "Whichever. Does it really matter?") and getting frustrated with him, I thought I'd bounce this off you guys. Mahalo for putting up with me.
