Now I have come back hours later and I see that I no longer need to respond. I have been saved from offering an... over the line argumentative-offensive-sarcastic remark at the risk of getting MODestly punished, even though I have been working hard this last year to just be a nice person

No--never too late and don't let them tell you otherwise. I had been talking with our guide for a few weeks before I mentioned our referral. I'll send you a PM. I'd love to return the favor as we bought over a year ago with a referral. Best purchase we have made for our family!

Not too late for a referral...when we first went in for the tour, at check-in they asked us about a referral and we did not give them one. Then when my sister came back for the purchase she gave the referral info at that time. She did get the $500 gift card due to the referral name. However she was planning to use her Disney Visa and there is a promo w/ Disney Visa to get $500 in rewards. But the two $500 deals cannot be combined, unfortunately.

I'm right here hot-shot. No need to get confrontational. I may have been wrong about the $500 promo. That is yet to be proven (to me, at least).

What I am not wrong about is the spirit of the friends and family referral program from DVC.

People camp out in these threads with the intention of referring absolute strangers in order to further their own personal financial gain.

The program is designed to incent people to tell their friends and family about how much they love DVC and how great it is and to compensate them if their referrals end up purchasing a stake. It is not designed for people to solicit total strangers.

I'm entitled to my opinion last time I checked. It's appauling to me that these threads are merged and allowed to continue. They are inherently dishonest. I guess I'm the only one that feels this way. So be it. I've said my peace and I'll stay out of them in the future barring no further personal attacks (which I never made, btw).

It speaks volumes as to the concern over the integrity of this board that these are even allowed to continue.

I see nothing wrong with helping someone save some money on their purchase. I thought this board was all about helping fellow Disfans out when possible.

I stayed away from this board for a long time because of posts like this. It is a shame that some take their frustrations with life out on others. I just don't get how that makes some people happy! Guess I am out of here again....maybe someday things will change.

I'm probably going to go ahead and buy a DVC when we go to Disney next month. I 'm already working with a guide, who told me about 2 weeks ago that this promotion did not exist. It must have just come back or something.

Anyway, I still don't have enough posts to PM, but I can receive them. So, if you would like to be my referral, please PM me. I'm not sure of all the data I need, but you probably do!

Not sure what the debate is about. From everything I've read anyone who uses a current member of DVC as a referral will receive a $500 gift card. The referer receives $250 which they can use towards MFs, gift card, or to purchase more points. Seems to me that everyone wins. So if anyone wants to use me as a referral please feel free to contact me tinadisney@comcast.net , I'm going to need to add on soon so $250 would be great.

This is the current offer:
160 points or more at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas
$8 per point discount for net price of $96 per point
Matching set of Developer's Points to be used at Saratoga Springs or for Interval International trade within one year of purchase
No dues payable until May 2009
AKV points cannot be used for a stay prior to May 2009
In addition to the above terms, if the buyer has a referral from an existing DVC member, they will receive a $500 gift card

I just know how great the incentives are if you have one, because we used one when we bought. GREAT INCENTIVES at the time. I think DVC is well worth buying into! also, does anyone know whether the promotion for $500 GC with a referral can be combined with the $500 GC promotion for charging the downpayment on your Disney Rewards Visa?

About a week later we found out about the referral bonus and our guide was able to add that (we just signed the paperwork for it on Thurs). As it stands now, info for both promos have been submitted and no one mentioned that we could not do both so we'll see. We only expected the $500 rewards credit so it really is just a bonus if we get the Visa gift card.

You would just give your guide the name, and city/state of your friends. It's actually very easy to do.

I hope you will report back to let us know if you did indeed get both promos. Maybe anyone looking at buying 160 pts (which was supposedly the minimum required for the Disney Visa $500 Rewards) should just ask their guide to submit the special Member ID from their Disney Visa account and see if by some chance they do end up receiving both.

I definitely will report back. It should be about 3 more weeks before we should expect to get the prepaid VISA and probably not until mid Sept for the disney visa rewards (that will be the 3rd statement since the downpayment and we were told it takes 2-3 statements to show up)>
