I saw an Asian man with the neatest gadget - he had a neck tripod with his digital camera mounted to it. It wasn't very big - sort of a mini tripod on a necklace but it looked like a great idea. Trouble is - he didn't speak English.

Has anyone seen this and do you know where I could get one?

I have no idea but I'm going to move this to our community board. I'll bet that some of our photography buffs there can give you an answer to this question.

It does sound interesting. I got a monopod that seems like it will be fairly easy to carry around but that would even be better. Now I just need the camera to go with it :)

This is the type of monopod I got. I like the little tab at the bottom. I really haven't had a chance to use it yet but just testing it seems to be pretty steady, I put my foot on it and it will stay in one place almost by itself. Only a touch to balance.

The closest thing I've seen to this is something one of the trumpet players in our band uses. It's made for trumpets and it's a brace that hangs from around the neck with an arm that comes up to a rubber groove to rest the horn in while you're playing. It's supposed to ease fatigue when you're playing for a long time. He claims it works, but it seems like more bother than it's worth to me (trumpets just aren't all that heavy). Some people are just into gadgets.
