My sons have asthma and sometimes need to use a nebulizer. Does anyone know if they are available to rent at Disneyworld? Also, if you bring your own, do you pack it in your carry-on luggage or in your checked luggage? Are there any security issues at the airport with a nebulizer in a suitcase?

We have brought our son's nebulizer on trips to Disneyworld and other places. We always put in it our carry-on luggage and I don't think they've ever even taken it out to look at it. Of course security is different at different airports, but I would think worst-case scenario, they'd make you plug it in and turn it on.

When we have gone on an airplane we have always carried it on like carry-on can't risk having it lost like regular luggage. We have never had a problem . Last time we carried on a nebulizer and a pete feeding pump with no problems or questions.

I guess it is possible to rent, but I have taken mine with no problem. I always bring it in my carry-on. I have never been stopped, I just put it thru the e-ray machine (well, my dh does!). Interestingly, I have never had a problem with all kinds of meds in metal containers, but a lipgloss compact (plastic with a mirror and lipbrush) got us delayed for a good half hour for reasons I still don't understand. Oh well, better safe than sorry!

I would totally bring your own. It's also good to have it at all times just in case (I like to have mine for airport use as necessary, my breathing does NOT like airports, esp the jetway, and the neb gets down the meds so much better than an inhaler).

Have a great trip!

I needed to use it @ EPCOT & ended up @ First Aid. They quickly put me in a room w/ the door open & showed me where the electrical outlet was next to the chair.

They loved my hand held neb. I use it on the way to the parks (ESP. AK!) and have had a much better trip & can enjoy the time w/ my family.

FORGOT to add: it runs on 2 AA batteries! I DO bring extra w/ me!

We always bring our nebulizer on the plane with us. We have always been stopped and they take it and do a swipe-type test on it. But I don't mind. I'm glad they check it. Usually takes 5 minutes. I feel better carrying it on with me, that way I know it won't get broken or lost.

Thankfully we never have had to use it in the parks. We've brought it a few times and just put it in a locker. If we had to use it, I would have gone to first aid.

We also carry-on the very small Peri-nebulizer, which is light-weight and rechargable. We usually bring an Albuterol inhaler into the parks, and would head back to the room to use the neb if needed.

We have a copy of the prescriptions for the meds and neb in the carry-on, but have never had a problem. The scanners have always recognized the machine.

They have always been more interested in The Ambassador's belt and shoes, for reasons we do not know.
