I've flown with one with no problems, not recently but I did put MIL on the plane with one on Saturday and no one questioned it but it was a smaller one.
The only thing they've questioned is what it is because it isn't something they were familiar with and they didn't know.
I always carry medications in my carry on but I do make sure I have one with a label just in case.
No you don't. But at security you will have problems with it since security doesn't know what a nebulizer is. I carry a nebulizer with me and everytime the security gets all worked up bc they have no clue what it is. Then they pull you aside ask you what it is, and then they tell you not to touch it while they check it and look over it.
It surprises me that security doesn't know what it is. I've only had one person in my whole life at security who knew that it was a nebulizer.
I've never taken a prescription for my son's nebulizer, but I always get my bag checked that I use for carrying it. Security thinks it looks like a bomb with the wiring for the extension cord and the motor. It just takes a few extra seconds, and we're on our way.
We've taken my DS's nebulizer with us on the plane, and we weren't even questioned as to what it was! I had a letter signed by the doctor, stating that he needed the nebulizer, an asthma inhaler and an Epi-Pen with him in the cabin of the plane for medical reasons, but no one even questioned it. Don't know if we were lucky, or maybe security at Pittsburgh Intl. Airport know about this stuff.
I had no trouble flyingwiht one..on the way to Florida I carried it on and wasn't questioned at all about it...going home I stuffed it in my suitcase and checked it since it didn't matter if it got lost going home, I was only worried about it getting lost going there where I wouldn't have a replacement.
