NE Magic on Sept 12, 2012

Just booked today. Tried to get the DVC deal but sold out since yesterday so got ogt. ::fingers crossed::: it's a surprise for DH turning 50 in Sept so very excited!!

No Flyers fan

Woo Hoo Flyers! I grew up around Philly, but I live in upstate NY now. I don't get to watch many games anymore (and the ones that I can watch have the commentary slanted the wrong way) but I still love my Broad Street Boys!

Got the DVC price for a 4A!!!!!

This will be me and DWs 7th Disney cruise. Going to celebrate our 20th anniversary a little early.

Was not going to but now booked DD 10. This way she and 17 year old brother dont kill each other and dont need to get someone to watch them both.

We sailed the Wonder July2nd to Alaska so...... I dont expect this to be as good a cruise, but, at the rate we paid I should be really fun.

We live in Somerset County NJ. Think we will take a car service not too many people can give rides in the middle of a work week. Might have son drop us off at train station.

How close/convenient is the train from the port? From where I live upstate there are a few different train options, but I never go into the city so I don't know the best way to get from the station to the port.

Cab or car service is probably your best options...not sure about the subways since I avoid them if I can :goodvibes

Just got off the Magic this morning from a 2 night cruise to nowhere. We had such a blast - but it was over with so quickly! Now we're looking forward to this cruise even more!

We were booked on that cruise and switched it over to the September NE cruise.....should have done both!!

It's official! I'm in (along with two friends, one of whom is a DIS'er and will also be joining me on the Panama Canal Cruise)! I couldn't resist that OGT rate any longer.

I was on the first of the Canada sailings in June and I had an absolutely wonderful time and can't wait to go back!

Beth

Hi Everyone, we just booked this cruise the end of last week with the DVC deal that came out. It's our first cruise, so I can't wait. My travel group is myself, husband (Danny), and son (Nathaniel, 5). We were booked for podcast cruise 4.0, but we switched to this to save money. We're in cabin 8590. I jumped right on booking shore excursions- I'm used to doing a lot more planning for trip than this time frame allows so I'm going into overdrive :-)

Just booked today. Tried to get the DVC deal but sold out since yesterday so got ogt. ::fingers crossed::: it's a surprise for DH turning 50 in Sept so very excited!!

Welcome to all of you! I have added all of you to the roster.

Okay my FE friends..... I am so excited!:cheer2: I found what think is a really great idea for our FE!!!!!!!! It's almost like a create your own gift........... without giving too much info...........I hope you love these as much as I do..... I can't wait!!!!!

Hi all!

We got caught up in the DVC?VGT rate frenzy and booked this cruise! This is the first time I have ever gotten off a cruise one month and booked another for just 2 months later!

It will be myself, DH, DD (10) and DD (7). They will only miss 2 days of school due to Jewish Holidays and "Teacher planning days." Otherwise, I couldn't pull this off!

We sailed out of NYC to Bahamas on June 22nd, and it was great! Any questions about getting to port and all let me know! Also, I have been trying to work on my Trip Report, there are pictures on there on how to get to the terminal from the Lincoln Tunnel.

Looking forward to cruising with everyone! It looks like this cruise will have A LOT less kids than the June cruise did! We may even find space in the pool!:rotfl:

Is it possible to get a recap roster and also details about a meet-up once on board?

We r traveling just DH and me with another couple...the guys r turning 50 in Sept. Kids will have just started school so can't take them out. Besides, they r going on the Fantasy next summer so they'll survive!

Wld like to participate in the FE but no cabin # yet. Mad at myself for waiting 24 hrs too long to get DVC verandah on deck 6. Now OGT b/c only 1 VGT left and 2 couples. Oh well...at least we're still on board!! :)

We r veteran cruisers...5th time on Disney, 3rd time on the Magic. 'other' cruise lines many times. Even our honeymoon was on the big red boat = DCL at the time. Anyone remember that? :)

Reading about shore excursions and have NO idea what to do. What r y'all doing? Wld like to learn about the area but wld also like to do something active. Wld love to whale watch but it's like 7 hrs long!!

Any input is welcome. Really excited to meet y'all!

And I don't see a group on FB for this sailing. 9/2 & 9/7 r there but no 9/12 that I cld find. Anyone?

Welcome to all of you! I have added all of you to the roster.

Hi All,

This is the 3rd thread I've read and will be posting to as I'm (39) gratefully sailing with my mom, Cathie (65) on all 3 DVC sale sailings.. 9/2, 9/7, & 9/12 for a B2B2B where we will be doing FEs for all 3 as it is a surprise for my mom who has never been part of FE. Our cabin is 7024 (so far until I ask for some advice later in this post).

I'm hoping you can still add us to the FE list as I saw someone propose to cut the list at 7/12/12, but the other sailings are cutting the list as of 8/1/12 due to the DVC sale.

Also, I'm hoping we can be still added as though I booked on the 12th, I didn't get off the phone til 11:30pm; had surgery the next morning; cut my toe real bad Saturday; had breathing issues Sunday-present which turns out to be Reactive Airway Disease of which I have to have Allergy testing 8/1/12; had my power go out yesterday all day but gratefully not for the 4 days of the big storm a couple weeks ago and lastly having surgery #10 tomorrow (2 in 8 days). Sheesh this has been one heck of a week! I'm not venting for a pity party but hopefully so you understand for the late notice and because these Canadian Magic cruises can't get here soon enough, lol!

Now to some venting that I'm hoping some veterans can help me with... When I called about the DVC sale I was left on hold for 20 minutes when the hold time said 4 minutes; when the CM answered the phone she didn't give her name, was rude, and when she wouldn't give me her name she stuck me back in the que for a 20 more minutes; I hung up thinking I was in limbo and called back where I was told the hold time was 20 minutes and was actually 30 minutes; and the next person I got was pretty good telling me the calls are recorded and the CM will get coached. Should I trust that or report it to someone higher up b/c I was not treated in the normal pixie dust Disney way?

But, Here is the part I really need advice... So I told CM #2 that I needed the handicapped cabin my mom and I sailed in during 9/11/2004 due to her being disabled for all 3 sailings of 9/2, 9/7, & 9/12. She said she only had Deck 7 HC for 9/2, Deck 6 HC for 9/7 (with no GTY that the stateroom hosts would move hanging clothes or drawers for us to help us out vs having to pack all the way for the room move), and no HC for 9/12. So, she suggested getting a reg. verandah near the elevators where my mom can plug her scooter in so that we can have the same cabin for all three dates which currently is a Cat 5 in 7024.

And now the long awaited question... I originally asked for Cat 4 which *was* available all 3 dates in the *same* cabin but she said they were on Deck 8 right below the pools with kids running around and that we would want Deck 7. So I took her advice for cabin 7024. But after reading in one of the threads that Cat 4 gives 30 extra sq ft of space over Cat 5 which would help greatly for our luggage and moving around since it is hard for my mom. Also, so many of you veterans on this sailing are so excited to get Deck 8. Reading this makes me really upset that CM #2 talked me into Cat 5 when I could have had Cat 4 telling me Deck 8 was noisy! Though the sale is sold out I've read that there are still rooms available. Should I try to get Cat 4 on deck 8 for all 3 sailings if available?

Sorry for the novel... Looking for some help, :thanks:

Hi Everyone!

We are booked - 4 of us! 2 Adults and 2 Kids (8yr) - their Birthday Present!:cool1:

Although we have done the parks many times and other cruises this will be our first cruise on Disney!

A few questions but will only pose one for now - RE FE's. and forgive the newbie, I know what they are but how are they used - ie does everyone jsut contribute to eveyone elses' is?

Other questions too - but those will have to wait a bit!

Thanks - Happy to be back on DIS - it has been awhile.

Enjoy,

I would love it if one started up!

When we saw them both listed last year we KNEW we wanted to do both. The 2 night was a consolation prize for not heading down to WDW for July 4th like we normally do. Definitely left us craving more time on the Magic, though. September can't get here soon enough!

Welcome to all the new comers! Boy, a lot of you are booking on the DVC deal! This is turning into a much larger group. For those who are asking, I did not plan to cut the list off until mid Aug, that should give everyone a month to get everything together. If this is not enough time, let me know.

Okay my FE friends..... I am so excited!:cheer2: I found what think is a really great idea for our FE!!!!!!!! It's almost like a create your own gift........... without giving too much info...........I hope you love these as much as I do..... I can't wait!!!!!

Sounds like you have had quite a time! Sorry, I cannot help you about the handicapped rooms.

RE FE's - basically - Yes - you will just contribute something into the other FE's sometime during the cruise. The gift can be as simple as some candy or pencils, or something handmade, or something that is a souvenir - whatever you want.

Is it possible to get a recap roster and also details about a meet-up once on board?

For excursions, we are doing the Hop On Hop Off bus at both ports.

RECAP AS REQUESTED:

I understand that there will be a DIS meet at Promenade Lounge at 3pm on Sail Away day. (If this is not correct, please correct me, I just remember seeing that post - or maybe that was even on another cruise thread).

Roster - again - I have this as a spread sheet which will not copy in that format, so I have added commas to separate what should be columns. This is what I currently have, and I will change the order to by stateroom number when I get most of the stateroom numbers. I am making a list of e-mail addresses, and will e-mail the list in spread sheet format once it is closer to being completed. Please check the info I have for you and send me any corrections or additions, Thanks.

I forgot to mention, there is a FB page called Magic to Canada. It is difficult to find, and at the moment, there are only 3 of us on it, and no one has posted lately, but if we get folks there, I am sure it will take off. Or, someone could start a new one that is easier to find, I am not that computer literate:rotfl:
