We are leaving for Florida in a few hours - traveling from the Smoky Mountains via I-40, to I-26, to I-95.

Can anyone in the Ashville/Spartanburg/Columbia area give me an idea of the interstate conditions in those areas?

I checked the NCDOT site, but unless I know the specific counties, it's a little useless - I would assume that I-40, a major interstate, would be kept clear, but you never know - and if it's clear but with 40 mph traffic, I-75 through Atlanta would be an easier drive for us!

Thank You!

I don't know about now, but at 7 this morning I-40 was littered with accidents (close to 35 or so) and at one point I-40 Eastbound at exit 31 was closed due to a tractor trailer accident. You are going to want to look at Haywood and Buncombe counties. Once you get to Asheville and get on I-26, you should be fine. It was primarily I-40 going through the gorge where there were major problems. Lots of black ice.
