How do you know he was shooting at Americans? Even if he was, he wasn't exactly shooting at anyone when he was shot.

The point is that we don't know. It happened, a reporter was there and caught it on tape and now it's being investigated. Sure, war is hell and lots of bad things happen and if the military is going to allow reporters to be there, bad things will be reported too.

NBC can't say as much about the killing of the lady because no one was there and no one really knows what happened just yet. I can't believe that I'm defending the news media but in this case I don't see that they did anything wrong. Again, I wish that there were more outrage but that seems to be a different problem.

Ideally, that would be nice. Realistically, I just don't see how it could be done. That is expecting WAY to much of a fellow HUMAN.
It is too easy to judge others though.

There is a videotape of the killing. Why don't they show that the way they've been showing the video of the Marine?

It's just like earlier this year when they were showing all of the pics from Abu Ghraib but wouldn't show the pictures of the beheadings. Why only show the anti-American pics and videos? Why not show the pics/videos of what we are fighting against in Iraq?

I just couldn't continue reading this without replying. All of those who defend the "unharmed man" who was shot by the marine should trade places. You go over there and determine the bad ones from the good ones. Before you shoot make sure you pose the question to the guy,"Are you armed? Do you mean me any harm?" I bet you won't even finish the first part of your question. We are not fighting "nice" people. I wouldn't trust anyone of them. I will protect my live first. That is what these military men and women are doing. I back this guy 100%. I wouldn't want any of my family over there. The worst part is the people of this country feeling sorry for the terrorists. If you think this man meant no harm to the marine you are sadly mistaken. I
bet people would view this different if it was their child over there. I think they would defend any action alot differently. Remember these military men and women are in harms way every minute of every day. I value life. The lives of our men and women fighting over there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I know for certain? Nope, that's why I said I doubt it. But the idea that these guys are simply out there trying to defend the homeland is beyond ridiculous. They are out to kill coalition forces and return Iraq to the good old days of despotism. If they weren't, they would put down their arms and use their upcoming elections to choose their government. None of the TV stations where I've seen this story has shown the actual shooting of the man but just the film up to and then beyond that point. I'm not aware of the exact contents of the film showing the murder of the lady but I doubt that any TV network would show a beheading. At least I hope not.

I think they should show the beheadings, and the shootings, and everything else that the terrorists are doing.

you monday morning armchair quarterbacks are pathetic. seconding guessing a soldier who is under unbelievable pressure just walking around the corner - any corner. just a few blocks away at almost the same time, a dead corpse was ****y-trapped to explode when our soldiers moved them - killing one and wounding several others.

let me armchair this one - isn't it possible that the wounded terrorist might have been sitting on a grenade just waiting for a soldier to come close enough so he can take him out? oh. he should wait to see the grenade first? its very easy to be 'dead' right.

He was NOT defending his country!!!!! He may not even be an Iraqi!!! If they'd just put down their arms and be peaceful, we could leave the country. They are fighting because they hate us and they are coming from other countries and killing Iraqis as well as Americans. Most, if not all, of the people fighting our soldiers and blowing up buildings and cars and beheading hostages ARE, indeed, TERRORISTS!! We're fighting Fallujah for a reason!!

None of us have all the facts so I just am amazed we're all judging this soldier.

They are finding many slaughter houses there which means many of the hostages were killed there and you don't consider them terrorists? Most of the people fighting in Fallujah (and Iraq) aren't even Iraqis!!!
