Are they on our side or not? WTH showing the videotape of the marine killing the terrorist that he thought was still breathing. And of course now they're showing it on Al Jazzera. The guy had blood pouring from his head like a geyser. He was not going to live and the marine put him out of his misery.

Shoot first, ask questions later.

The military needs to kick the embedded reporters out of there. They're putting our soldiers in danger.

Umm, isn't that the video of the soldier that is in deep **** for shooting an unarmed person?

I agree. Kick the reporters out!!! How dare they put that video out and have people start to second guess how soldiers "work"!!!

I think you missed a critical fact... that these "unarmed" insurgents had been firing at our soldiers from the mosque for days.

What exactly do you think our soldiers should have done? Medivac him out to Germany and try to save his life?

Tell me,chad, what happened leading up to what you saw on the video? What did the soldier see that we didn't see on the video? Are you suggesting the video tells the complete story? How do we know, FOR A FACT, that the terrorist was unarmed?

Yes.

:sad2:

So his life... the life of a terrorist... is more valuable to you than the life of any one of our soldiers?

Unbelievable.

I value all life.

And the soldiers life might have not been in danger.

That is what is being investigated.

Shooting an unarmed prisoner is wrong and against the rules. This soldier should be punished if it comes out to be true.

The Marines are investigating this to "determine whether the Marine acted in self-defense, violated military law or failed to comply with the Law of Armed Conflict." (pulled from the article to which Chad provided a link)

OK so let me get this straight. You value the life of a terrorist. Case closed. You don't get it. :sad2:

Don't get what?

Seems pretty clear to me:

I value all life.

Yes and while they're "investigating" Arab networks are showing the footage, putting our soldiers in even more danger than they are already.

Laws of Armed Conflict? LOL you must have missed the entire war. We aren't fighting a country that has troops. We're fighting terrorists that cut people's heads off.

And that doesn't mean we are allowed to break the rules.

Good night, Chad. We will never agree so it seems pointless to try.

You ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Me

:bored:

I thinks its a disgrace! I mean the Iraqi people are already being bombarded by anti-American propaganda and now NBC is going to get in on the job. Though I do notice Al-Jazerra won' broacast the execution of the Female aid worker- I guess it make the insurgents look like the spineless cowards they are. They can't fight the US forces fairly- so the kidnap unarmed people, including people there to help and execute them while they are bound and surrounded by other insurgents. Where's the outrage over THIS? Its terrible to kill a murderer who will kill himself to take a Marine with him, but its okay to behead civilians!

I'm pretty sure no one said anything of the sort. Both actions are unacceptable.

I agree that NBC should be ashamed. I also do not think reporters should be on the front lines.

I would not have a problem with NBC showing this footage after an investigation was completed and found the soldier to be wrong, but as it stands now...it is being used as propaganda against our troops.

Btw, I think maybe we need to step back and realize that our troops are in a ground war over there, they have to make quick decisions based on seconds of gathering information. They will not always be 'right'. They are seeing their friends being blown away. They do the best they can under the circumstances presented.

Let me know when a soldier has been found guilty of purposely disregarding the rules of engagement. If they find him not guilty, the damage is already done, the propaganda is already out there to be used against our troops.

I think our media should be more responsible than that.

yes but NBC has made a choice to show one and not the other...that can be interpretted by some to be saying exactly that.

Both may be unacceptable, but over which is the outrage more public? Which is shown every 15 minutes? No one may condone the actions of the insurgents, but they don't condemn it as quickly or as often as EVERY move our armed forces make.
