Navigating the My Disney Experience (MDE) Web Site and App

Hmm, I trying to change my name!! It won't let me at all. I had this account for years. I am just scared because this might causes problems in check in, tickets and charging. ugh

If you are trying to change your name using the MDE website, it will return an error. If you have the MDE mobile app loaded on a smartphone or tablet, you can change your name using the mobile app without error.

I'm trying to figure out what is the best device to buy to put the Disney apps on. I do not want a phone. Which devices work best with the apps from Disney ? I have heard so many complain that they do not work well.

Pete talked about this on a DISunplugged show. I think he said Apple worked best but the problems weren't with the device. He had a hard time with the app and wifi. No matter what you get, if the app fails, use the website. I think it works the best ( and so did pete).

I agree with several here. Just came back from the World after a March 28-April 5 trip. Split stays between Riverside and Bay Lake Tower.

MULTIPLE issues with wifi and apps. Trouble linking......Fast Pass reservations that were made using both our iPhone and Droid apps just disappeared or spontaneously switched to different times/attractions?? MUCH difficulty linking our party of 10. Seemed to work well on the laptop but did not always cross over to the phone apps. And our party had Droids (Galaxy's) and iPhones. We all had issues.

Difficulty copying "friends/family" plans to eachother's phones. Trouble with simple things like just making ADR for restaurants. Even some of our bands would not work our door lock and had to be switched out to new bands. Out of the 8 day stay, we all "guesstimated" we lost at least 10 hours of our precious time to "My Disney Experience" problems. On phone with IT, in line at Concierge and Guest Services multiple times. Probably will go down as our most stressful vacation ever. And I've been to WDW well over 50 times....stopped counting. We were getting downright grumpy over all the problems.

I feel Disney has MUCH to improve with this. Also DESPERATELY need cell phone charging stations!!! If WDW is going to base the park experience on this app, it means a LOT of time on phone. Charging stations would be really appreciated!!! :thumbsup2

The weirdest thing is happening on my MDE. I have extra tickets?? I have 3 2-day tickets (there are 3 in the family). I don't remember buying these and I think I would remember that bill. I just called because the tickets I did buy for this upcoming trip weren't displaying properly and I asked about these other tickets. The IT tech said "if they show as active and not under a previous trip, they are good" and he stated the technical team can prioritize them so our next trip uses the 1-day (we are only going one day) and then the 2 days are left to use. Holy crap, I guess that seems nice but are you kidding me? I would hate to try to use these ghost tickets and have them not work and for the life of me, I have no idea where they came from. Anyone else have something weird like this happen?

Does anyone know how in the world to make a payment on our package? I remember it being very easy last year, but this year I can't find my balance due anywhere or find any way to pay. Is this a known issue or just a problem I'm having? I've tried the app on my iPhone and iPad as well as the website from both devices and on my PC. Checked through Chrome, Firefox and IE... nothing.:badpc:

Once I'm logged into WDW website, if I click on "my reservations and tickets" under MDE, I can see my resort package info, and in blue next to my remaining balance it says "make a payment" - that can be clicked to go to the payment screen.

So strange. I don't see my balance due on that page at all.

Me neither! It used to be so easy on the old website (and you used to be able to still access the old website to make a payment, but I just tried the link and it isn't working anymore.)

I do NOT know how this problem occured except that it started years ago.
I just got a smartphone :bitelip: and downloaded the app but when it came time to change FP+s I could not login with the same information as I use on the website. Thinking I maybe needed to register for the app, I tried that; but could not because an account already exists for my email. So, as a last effort, I tried a different password that I used about 10 years ago - that got me into the app. Then, of course, I could not access my reservations because they are already linked to the web site account with the current (not 10 year old) password.
Somehow parts of disney IT (BOG FP site also uses this old password and I should have worried about this when I discovered that) has old information on me - this is nothing I can change. I have tried emailing them and have 3 different phone numbers in 3 different email answers that link me to different WDW reservations lines, but none of them have been answered even after holding as long as 52minutes23seconds! I really want to sort this out before I get to WDW so I have time to become familiar with the app. Ultimately I will need a tech support number not rezzies or park info anyway - anyone have a tech support number that might help?

My MDE was working fine at 8 am and then at 10 it stopped recognizing me and said my email/password do not match. :confused3 The number for tech support that pops up for me is 407-939-3471. Maybe you can try that? Good luck, here's hoping this gets fixed quickly - for both of us.

I have an unused account (2 accounts on one email - one from 2001 :rolleyes2) that was upsetting things. Long Story Short: I talked to 407-939-4357 which is some sort of tech support. If you have a userID, you can use that on the app in the box that says email - even though it's not an email address. All good here now - thanks for the quick reply.

I too had other Disney accounts from years ago (online games/shopping etc.) Some reason the app picked today to wonder which one I wanted as my primary. I called 407-939-3471, got a super nice CM right away and she fixed me all up:cool1: She was also nice enough to check that everything I had already worked on in MDE was aokay! :goodvibes

I also had a wonderfully nice and helpful CM who helped me determine why our tickets weren't linking properly. It was an easy fix, but something totally random that would've probably never crossed my mind. I'm so glad to hear how helpful and nice the CMs are being, because I'm sure they're getting their fair share of gripers and frustration!

Sounds like a victim of the Great Disney Website Unification... :)

Years ago Disney had all of their sites under a common "go.com" domain name. still do. But not everyone knew that "espn.com" and "waltdisneyworld.com" actually use a common username/password database, and people had different usernames tied to the same email address. As they worked to better unify things by using a common email address, many username conflicts came up.

There used to be a tool you could use to consolidate your accounts, but I can't find it any more.

I read on another thread about someone having that issue. Our issue was actually that it wouldn't allow my family members to accept my MDX invitation without creating their own account, so they did. I'm the big Disney planner, so they rarely sign in to their accounts. When we went to buy tickets we even bought them through my account and linked them to everyone when we did so. The issue was that the default setting on the accounts is for everything to be private, so (for example) when I bought and linked a ticket to my mom it was only showing in her account because it was set on private and not to share info. The CM I spoke to (with our permission) went into all of my family member's accounts and changed the settings so it would all show up in my account. Thank goodness because he said I wouldn't have been able to make FP+ reservations for them if we hadn't fixed it!

That probably explains why my wife, who has her own account and is linked to mine, can make FP+ selections for her and I, but not our kids who are managed directly on my account.

As for you inviting them to link, yes, they need to have their own account in order for them to link to yours. :)

She can add the kids using the 'Invite Through a Mutual Friend' tab and then she could make FP+ selections for them also.

Thanks...it wasn't worth sorting out during the vacation, but might as well get it fixed. :)

Hi All. I have questions, hoping for advice.

I'm the planner on a trip for myself and three adults sisters (YAY Girls Trip!). Myself and 1 sister both have separate MDE accounts, the other two don't. I made the resort reservations and will be making the ADR's and FP+ bookings.

It would be neat to be able to share all the plans on MDE with my three sisters but I am worried doing that will mess things up.

  • Would the two sisters without accounts have to open accounts in order to view?
  • Is there a view only option so that people I invite can not make changes accidentally?
  • With the one sister who has an account will all our ADR's and FP+'s be subject to more possible issues because she will have two names under two accounts essentially?
Would you recommend inviting to share if it's just for fun?

Thanks for any advice.
