Navigating the My Disney Experience (MDE) Web Site and App

Hi All. I have questions, hoping for advice.

I'm the planner on a trip for myself and three adults sisters (YAY Girls Trip!). Myself and 1 sister both have separate MDE accounts, the other two don't. I made the resort reservations and will be making the ADR's and FP+ bookings.

It would be neat to be able to share all the plans on MDE with my three sisters but I am worried doing that will mess things up.

  • Would the two sisters without accounts have to open accounts in order to view?
  • Is there a view only option so that people I invite can not make changes accidentally?
  • With the one sister who has an account will all our ADR's and FP+'s be subject to more possible issues because she will have two names under two accounts essentially?
Would you recommend inviting to share if it's just for fun?

Thanks for any advice.

Here's a few thoughts from my experience:

* The minute I linked my account to my sisters, it messed everything up (ppl and FPs missing, locked out of changing things, etc...) Had to call Disney IT and they fixed it. Technically you should be able to link and invite ppl with no issues, but this was back in March so hoping they've work out the bugs on this.

*There's no view only option, but your sister can't make changes to your hotel resv. Just FP and possibly dining.

*Your sister with the account shouldn't have anymore issues than you would. After the initial screw up when I linked accounts, neither one of us had any problems with our accounts.

*Personally, I don't recommend sharing the plans with anyone who doesn't need to be in the know on the details. To me it's too many cooks in the kitchen. But that's me. I didn't want any of my plans changed by mistake so I gave my sister strict instructions to LOOK not touch...lol.

Thanks Hammie59, you are pretty much confirming what I suspected. The system is just too glitchy. Maybe I will try capturing some screen shots and emailing those around.

Hopefully this hasn't been answered upthread, but I'm hoping someone can help me out. I had to set up a dummy profile for a family member for my ADRs. They now have their own Disney account, but I can't figure out a way to switch the rezzies to their account from the dummy account. I don't see any way to link the two accounts, so they have two separate profiles in my Friends and Family. I try to modify the reservation, the new account is selected in the section where I select guests for the reservation, but it's not showing up in Friends and Family, nor can I delete the dummy profile because it has ressies attached to it. Anyone else been through this? Thanks, guys.

Hi all,

Been to WDW a few times before but first time using MDE/FP+...

I've set up a MDE account and I want to add special event tickets to MDE but I cannot pick them up until I arrive.

  • Can I add an existing, partially used, no-expiration ticket to MDE so that I can make FP+ choices 60 days out?
  • Can I change the ticket medium from my non-expiration ticket to the special event ticket when I arrive (I want to use up the special event ticket, not my non-expiry tickets for this trip)?
  • Does MDE only let you make FP+ for the number of days on your ticket?
  • Is there a way to find out how many days are left on my no-expiration ticket?

Any insights on this much appreciated! :goodvibes

cheers,
:)

By "special event" ticket, do you mean a hard ticket event like MNSSHP or MVMCP? If so, I believe they still don't want those tickets linked and you need to use the actual ticket to enter the park for the party. And those tickets do not enable FP+ anyways as FP+ is not used during parties.

Thx for the reply. Sorry I wasn't clearer...I meant park passes that are linked to a specific timeframe (not hard tickets).

So really my question is can you swap out park passes as a workaround to take advantage of the 60 day booking window?

I know it is possible to prioritize, but I think you need Guest Relations to help in that regard.

Okay, thx for the reply & info, Commish! :goodvibes

I'm heading to DTD the day I fly in, so I can stop by Guest Relations there.

The only person who has access to MDE is me, and I just left myself a whole lot of notes. My vacation is 57 days a way, and I think that I now have everything planned out the way that I would like things to go.

My 180 days just arrived for the big trip at the end of the year, so I have just made my first ADR through the web site logged into MDE. At 2 seconds past the hour (8pm my time, 6am Florida time) clicked find a table and got the reservation I want. :yay:

I then had to put in a mobile number. It states for non-US, just enter in the number, but leave off the country code and leading zero. I tried everything I could think of, but it wouldn't take it - so in the end entered a dummy number.

For an Australian mobile phone number how do I enter a 9 digit number? In what format? (xxx)xxx-xxx? Or something else xxx-xxx-xxx?

I then looked under my profile in MDE it doesn't have my mobile number - tried lots of different formats but couldn't find one that it liked. What do I use?

I want to make more ADR's but want to use a real number rather than a dummy one.

Thanks

I'm almost at my 60 day mark to make my FP+ choices, however when I look at my DS account on my friends and family list it says she needs park admission, though when I go and log into her own account and attempt to look at the FP page it says she can't make her selections until July 5th and that her tickets are matched to mine... does anyone else ever have this problem? Or is that just the way MDE works (It's been a while since I had to even deal with MDE, so just curious).

Since she has her own MDE account, did you invite her from yours?

You have to sign in to her (? Wasn't sure since you said DS but then you said she ;) ) account and change the privacy setting. Go in her account under profile, then go to friends and family. You should see yourself in there (if not you need to invite her before you can do this.). Click on yourself and change it to the box that says something like view all activity.

As I told the other person, I've already done so. Her ticket is apparently still under my name, though the paperwork my travel agent sent me has her listed and added under her own name... I'm not sure if it'll just switch over come FP choosing day.. or if it's a mess up on theirs and/or Disney's behalf. I'm just worried if she's listed as having tickets under my name that she won't be able to get into the parks and probably won't be able to get on any of the rides either.

did she also invite you? Last time I checked you had to accept both ways for it to work.

Did you assign a park ticket to her, or does she have her own?

She has just sent me an invite.. however the ticket issue remains the same.. it says the 7-day park pass is still assigned to me. How would I assign one to her if it says she doesn't have one?

When you enter the tickets in, it gives you the option of assigning them...been a while so I forget what it looks like.

If it is actually _assigned_ to you, I don't know if there is a way to unassign it aside from calling.

If the tickets are completely unused, the website and app will allow you to reassign them to other individuals listed in your Family & Friends list. This is done from the 'My Reservations and Tickets' page.

The tickets are paperless and purchased along with the hotel through a travel agent so I have no actual ticket number, only a reservation code.
