Navigating the My Disney Experience (MDE) Web Site and App

We were at WDW from 10\12 - 10\19 and had a good experience with everything (overall).

We did have a snafu when checking in as we waited for about 3 hours to get checked in and our MB and KTTW cards would not open our door. We think that our room had been ready (we got to BWV at 12:30 and told us our room would be ready shortly) but due to MB issues, we never got the notification.

This ordeal involved us going up to multiple CM's and asking for statuses and the CMs were all very friendly, but it seemed like no one could confirm our exact room or when it would be available. Ironically, when they told us it was ready, I never received a text. When we couldn't unlock our room door, I returned to the front desk. The CM said, "Try your KTTW cards."

I trek back up...zero success....head back down to front desk...a different CM checks things out, can see that I'm irritated andshe was very apologetic. She asks me to call up to my family and see if the bands\cards work. They do. At that same time, I got the text to my phone! All 4 bands worked and we were content. Later that evening, my wife went to the lobby gift shop and upon retunring, her MB doesn't work...neither does mine...but both of my DDs do!

She heads back down to the front desk and the CM says they have to rekey the cards and keeps my one daughter's KTTW but says they'll bring it back to us. They never did. I had to go down the next day where I then promptly asked to speak with a supervisor. I gave a non-emotional, fact -based account. She took time to listen, made many notes, called us a few days a;ter to ensure all was going well and we even received a Chocolate Mickey arrangement with strawberries.

Now that's all the bad stuff! The rest of the week our bands worked like a charm. No issues with access, FP+, etc. We did get double-billed for a meal but they fixed it right away for us at the front desk and our DDP reflected it immediately.

The MDE app worked relatively well but was slow at times (on my Galaxy S3 and wife's iPhone). Not sure how much of that was the app versus wifi and bandwidth saturation. So no major complaints there. I'd expect with time that the bugs will get worked out and things will go well. We were able to make changes to FP times and attractions and modify our ADR's with no issues. We also leveraged the wait times feature a good bit.
 
has anyone set up a family member on their account, linked up tickets and reservations, and then made FP+s- AND THEN 'invited' the person to open their own account?

my kid is 12 so can't have his own account. We're all set for a December trip. His birthday is before we go so he'll be 13. I'm curious if it's easy peasy to let him have his own account (so he can use the app on his phone) - or if i'd be playing with fire?

I set up my son, he is linked to the hotel, tickets and ADR's. It has an Invite envelope, but then it also has a note that I manage his account as well. Since I added everything and he is active I took it to mean I can do whatever I need for him and my DH. I did invite my friend however, since she has her own account.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my friend's daughter! She showed up on my account when I entered her in the ADR's, and is still hanging there!

My kid is the same as yours currently- he's all set under my or my wifes account (my wife technically manages him) - but i can add,change, delete his FP +s so all's well.

I believe when he turns 13 the "invite" envelope/button will show up. Currently I am leary of pressing the button that MDE will implode- lol. So I was curious if anyone had in fact pressed the 'invite' button without it imploding.

Oh yeah, there is a way. Call them and wait on hold for about 30 min. And they may work it out. Or they will tell you they will call you back the next day and then never call you. Been there done that.

I was daring and invited my MIL, husband and son. Wish I hadn't done it though. No major implosions, but I did have two husbands for a bit and their tickets disappeared a few times. Their accounts regularly default back to showing only sharing shared plans which makes their tickets disappear for a bit until I tell them to log on and change it back. Since they hadn't logged on after they accepted my friend requests I know they weren't changing their permissions. I just wanted someone else to have an account in case something went wonky with my phone and app, hopefully they would be able to change FP+ if that happened. Man I sound almost optimistic ;)
 
I'm sorry but I can't seem to find the answer to my question.

I just recently made a reservation for SSR in January. I have set everything up for MDE. I was on there trying to see about choosing colors for the MBs. And trying to reserve some FP+ times but I can't seem to do anything really. What am I missing?

FP+ can only be reserved (I believe) through January 4th (60 days in advance) as of right now.

You should see a customize MagicBands link on the right hand side of MDE if/when you're eligible to customize them.
 
Just an FYI... After using all of our FP+ at AK yesterday, I was able to schedule two more for EP later in the evening. Could have picked one or three, we just wanted two. And MDE will email you if a ride closes for technical reasons, offering another replacement FP+ if you don't want to wait for repairs. If the ride is down during your FP window, your FP+ is good for any time that day. The MDE was really accurate with wait times and ride reopening too. A bit slow, but always worked for us. Even to change FP+ times while on the Disney bus.

Being that I am calling from Canada i don't have the cash to stay on hold with the Disney help line for hours. i keep getting an error message that says the "my notifications" is not working right now and please try again in a few minutes". My patience is really wearing thin and am really worried about the FP availability as we are going the dreaded Christmas/NYE week. Any help would be appreciated.:sad:

Hello! Just a thought, since you didn't mention it. Do you have tickets linked to your MDE account? You must have park tickets linked to your MDE account in order to make FP+ selections.

Otherwise, I am not sure what the problem might be. I think for my upcoming trip, I was able to make FP+ selections at least 45 days out from my arrival date, but I honestly can't remember! :confused3

Are you using the app, or the web site? If using the app, switch to the web site.

Just downloaded the update and it seems to be running a little faster. I have also been having a problem with the app not showing my tickets. I have called twice about it and they couldn't fix it. This update finally fixed it for me!

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times, but I'm counting on a patient sole to help! I've tried logging into MDE. It lets me log in with my e-mail address and password and acknowledges that I'm logged in. It also lets me log in with a user name and password; again acknowledging that I'm logged in. Neither one has my reservation and when I try linking it, it tells me it's already linked. Any suggestions?

2 ways this could be that i am aware of- could be more for sure- but here's my 2:

could be there's another version of "you" somewhere - the setup is full of multiple "yous" from different accounts or things you may have done at disney (in real life or on the web) in the past. Usually requires a call to IT to remedy.

Alternatively, did someone else in your party already link the reservation? If so they need to add you to it by "inviting" you via your accounts email address.
 
So bummed! I tried to link our paper tickets (we bought 10 day non-exp ones in 2005) and got this error:

"Error: This ticket or pass cannot be converted online. You may complete the conversion process in person by bringing the ticket or pass to any Guest Services location at Walt Disney World Resort."

Since we arrive Dec 24th to spend Christmas Day in the Magic Kingdom, I'm assuming that Fastpass Plus won't be much good to us by then. URGH!!!!
