2. What is the name of the large wide section of the hull at the very end of the bow? The prow.
3. Entering or leaving port, what flag is flown form the mast over the wheelhouse, on the right side of the yardarm? Ship owner's flag
4. What is the beam of a vessel? The width of the ship at its widest point.
5. What is LOA in reguard to the lenght of a vessel? LOA is length overall. From the frontmost point of the bow to the aftmost part of the stern.
Harder:
1. What is a *compass Rose*? the face of the compass showing North, South, East and West.
2. How fast is a *knot*? (not the rope kind) @ 1.15 mph
3. Where is shaft allley? The area of the ship where the prop shaft run between the engins and where they exit the hull.
4. On which side of the ship is the Masters stateroom and the Cheif Engineers stateroom usually located? Master - starboard side, just aft of the bridge. Chief engineer - not a clue
5. What is *sail area* on a vessel? ???
Hardest:
1. What is a *water/foam monitor*? firefighting apparatus that can spray water / foam / chemical etc.
2. What is a *hose snozzle(spl?)*? reinforced nozzle that has the ability to penetrate a bulkhead and dispense fire retardant.
3. What is a sextant? Tool used for celestial navigation.
4. How does a depth sounder work? bounces sound waves off the sea floor to calculate sea depth.
5. What is a *rouge wave* unusually large waves out at sea that do not coincide with the sea state. They can be large enough to hazard a large vessel.

The Cheng is on the port and the master on the stbd. At least on the Magic class.

On a sailing ship, its the square footage of actual sail, or on a pwered ship, is the area from the waterline to th funnels.

A large diameter fixed position nozzle that rotates and elevates for fire protection.

Snozzles are nozzles that are attached to booms or pipe for added reach or height.

4. How does a depth sounder work?
By bouncing a signal of the bottom, and measuring how long it takes to return to the ship.
