National Rate for Dec up $30

Checking on my 10-day reservation Dec 4 AM to Dec 13 PM, National fullsize, I discovered the rate had gone up $30! Of course I'm keeping the old reservation, so my cost is unchanged, but it was unexpected.

My suspicion is that the Priceless code is not getting as good a discount as it used to. But maybe it's just the base rate went up.

Mine went up, too - glad I booked when I did - and yes, it was the base rate that went up on mine, the priceless discount was still the same.

Mine is up about $20. It's in the base rate ($151 to $170). I guess that shoots any hopes of a lower rate. I'm at $142 right now (priceless plus entertainment coupon), I was hoping to get closer to the rate I had in previous early Decembers - $110 to $120. Still not too bad for 7 days.

The new WWEB code is valid for December now, but when you use it, the base rate goes down and the discount is much smaller.

If you just use the Priceless code, the discount is larger.

I just checked my minivan rate for Dec 3-11 and with the WWEB, Priceless and Entertainment coupon, my total bill went up $33. If I removed the WWEB, the price is the same as it's been since March when I originally made the reservation.

I suspect we aren't going to see any more reductions for this time period this year.

From reading other posts about waiting times for rented cars, why should any of the Florida car rentals reduce prices now since FEMA has many of their cars rented and cars are in short supply. They must think FEMA agents will still be around in December so they are raising prices.

zulaya,

Maybe you should send a note to Mary at mousesavers.com. She still has the WWEB and similar codes expiring on Nov 22.

I am not saying rental cars should be dropping their prices. I just know that on just about every other trip, when I get within 4-6 weeks of arrival, my rates have dropped. Maybe not a lot, but they have dropped. It's just been a pattern I have noticed.

I think others have noticed the same pattern and that's why others were probably wistfully commenting on the prices going up and not down.

We are probably seeing a combination of more travellers and more cars rented due to all the hurricanes that is driving supply and demand.
