I have reservations with both for our Oct stay in WDW, but National is about $20 less for the week. We've never had a problem nor a long line with Avis, but want to take advantage of the better rate. Is National usually a long wait (not EA, we can't use this with the discount & coupon we have) Should we keep both reservations open and rent where the wait is less?
Is there a fee for not cancelling? Does National usually make mistakes on charging rentals with discounts? TIA!:)

Keep them both and keep checking them both. Prices go up and down daily. Sometimes hourly. You may want to change those reservations yet again before October. :)

I think Avis and National are very comparable at the counter. I have used both and had no problems with either.

I never have uncancelled reservations so I can't help you there, sorry.

From the National web site under Site Map, rental car policies:

No-show

National Car Rental may charge a fee for vehicles that are reserved but not rented, if the reservation is not canceled within 24 hours of anticipated arrival.
No-show fees will be billed to the credit card given at the time of reservation.

they will only charge for a no-show fee if you gave them a credit card. Only reservations that need to be guaranteed require cancellation 24 hours prior, etc.

If you are an Emerald Club member and they have your credit card number on file, which they do require, they can and will charge you 50.00 for a no show ressie.
