National Lampoon's Fun w/Dis Friends 2010!! ~ DAY 7-Final :( 6/27

The ride has been refurbished but it is still the rocket type cars where you sit front to back rather than side by side. I thought they were changing that but it's cool that they didn't. We ended up in the first car of the train. So it was Jordan, then Winkers, then me. Winkers and I were trying to scruntch ourselves as short as we could so that our heads were not sticking out in any manner. Everytime Jordan screamed, we screamed even louder!!

I had forgotten that SM was a rocket type seating arrangement. I told DH that Phoebe might enjoy it but Tessa was too short and then he remembered the seating. We opted out of that one since Phoebe had gotten excited on a couple of other rides and tried to stand up!!! Hearing the rumor confirmed, I'm SO glad we skipped it! Sounds like you guys had a blast though!

Cool.

We will be around whenver u ready :thumbsup2

yeah, I wouldn't let DS ride it yet even if he wanted too (he doesn't). I just can't keep an eye or a hand on him with that seating arrangement. Makes me nervous.

Morning Blue !!!

Morning Rosie! :flower3:

Glad you are all caught up! It really was an AWESOME night. We loved being there the same time as friends. We never get to go with family or friends from home because nobody seems to want to go to WDW. I know...:scared1:...right??

Just felt the urge to say hi! Been awhile since I've been over here. :goodvibes Saw your light was on and all that... ;)

As we woke up the next morning, we were still on a high from the Superbowl and an awesome night with friends the night before. This morning we dressed, ate, then headed down to the Magic Kingdom. There was to be a parade at 11am with Drew Brees!!

We got there a little after rope drop then staked out a spot close to where the beginning of the parade would be. (Frontierland) We found a nice planter/bench behind Pecos Bills and that is where we sat for the next 2 hours!! :scared1:

First of all let me tell you, we are from Louisiana....the capital of parades. Especially Mardi Gras parades. DH and I have spent a lifetime dealing with and learning how to deal with EVERYTHING at parades. When I say everything I mean....finding the right spot, guarding that spot from spot THIEVES, making sure yourself and all of your belongings as well as your children are protected, all while trying to still have a good time, keep our sanity, and deal with obnoxious drunks at the same time. We are parade pro's. Trust me, I'm not bragging. Knowing what we know is the VERY REASON WHY we DO NOT EVER do parades at WDW. We see WDW as our "happy place"......or "laughing place", if you will. In the last several years of our trips we have NEVER sat and waited for a parade. That is because we do not want what we KNOW is going to happen, ruin any portion of our vacation. Now, with all of that being said.....let's move on to the parade for Drew Brees. Because I assure you, the ONLY reason we did this parade was because it seemed like a "once in a lifetime" experience.

So, as we sat our 2 hours on our portion of the bench, we took turns walking around the area a bit. First DH and DS walked around, then I took a turn. I had the stroller backed up against the "bench" next to me, so that DS could stand on the bench directly behind the stroller when the parade started. For now, he was sitting on DH's lap who was sitting on the other side of me. Got the set up in your head?? Ok, hold on to that, you will need that picture later. As we hung out we had a good time taking in the scenery and people watching. We watched as the "road" in front of us went from no one to a packed house! There were Saints fans everywhere. It was AWESOME!

I climbed a rock and held my camera up over a wall. This is what I came out with. I think she was on her lunch break...

Splash Mountain...dry as a bone!

At one point a group of people showed up across from us with a big Saints banner. I was trying to get DH to take a picture of me with them in the background. I had no idea that a crazy Japanese man was sneeking up behind me! I turned around and discovered him when DH and everyone around him started laughing. :rotfl:

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST....

Jordan joins us and we all sit and chat for a little while with a few other people around us. After that last picture was taken, Jordan and I went back to where DH was to find someone in my spot!! It was a pre-teen boy so I asked him to move and he did with no problem. About 3 minutes later, I stood up to take a picture I think with Jordans camera or something like that. I can't remember why I stood up but I know I didn't have my camera with me because I set it on the bench directly behind where I parked DS's stroller. (remember the set up? that was actually to be ds's spot to stand) When I turned back around there was a lady standing there on the bench behind our stroller and her foot was on my camera strap. I told her that this was our spot and that my son would be standing there when the parade starts. I asked her to move and as I reached to retrieve my camera from under her FOOT, I did a little "move" type gesture with my hand. I didn't think it was a bad one, and frankly she was standing on my camera strap and about to step on my camera so she should be thankful that's the ONLY gesture she got. But of course, she had an attitude. Not because she was asked to move but because of my hand "gesture". She said I was telling her to "shoo" with my hand. I could see where this was going so I believe what I said was " A hand gesture?? Are you kidding me? Look, get over it and move. We've been here for 2 hours and this is my son's spot. Besides, you are standing on my camera strap!" She got even more irate and told me that she is not "stupid" and that she see's my "damn camera strap" and said something to the effect of me thinking she was blind. She wouldn't shut up and DH could see my blood boiling. I will go ahead and be honest with you..... I wanted to knock her head off. It has been an EXTREMELY long time since I have had a feeling of wanting to punch someone right in the face. I understand how ugly that is but she would NOT stop. Imagine trying to now ignore someone and they are standing next to where you are sitting and they are leaning over you and still gabbing away like an idiot. The only thing that helped me to NOT do anything stupid was when I looked to my right and saw my son, my friend Jordan, and another elderly lady that we had just made friends with. I could not bear(sp?) for them to see me lose it. I could also hear DH's voice saying to "let it go, she's an idiot" but it was not helping all that much. I finally looked at her and turned myself in such a way that my DS could not hear what I said and told her that she needed to "get out of my face, shut the hell up, and leave me alone". She laughed at me and started to say something else. I raised my voice louder and said "I said leave me alone". I will tell you it was very hard for me to just let her stay there through the parade. I CAN'T STAND PEOPLE LIKE THAT!!!! I guess this is why I have fallen behind on my TR. I knew this part was coming up and I am still a little mad about it. She should have moved. I just can't believe the audacity of some people.

Ok, rant and story over....on to the HAPPY parts of the trip. WHEW!! I'm glad that is over. :rotfl:

About 5 minutes after this incident, the parade started. Thank goodness!!! Out came a banner, and then his car. His wife was sitting in the front seat taking pictures of everyone taking pictures. :)

When the car got close to us I yelled out "YEAH, BABY!!! WE'RE FEELIN' THE BREES!!!" It made him look our way and everyone around us was able to get really good pictures. His wife laughed, and he gave us the "head nod" and waved to us. ........And that was pretty much it!! :rotfl2: 2 hours,& a lot of drama for a 2 minute parade. Behind his car was some of the characters dressed in sports gear. Then behind them were tons of teens who appeared to be on sports teams but we have no idea where they were from. :confused3

After the parade came the crowd of people!! We waited for them to pass and then went the other direction toward Pirates of the Caribbean and around toward Main Street. When we got to Main Street he was just going back stage. There was confetti everywhere and a HUGE crowd. They had filmed him coming down Main Street and so the cameras were still up. The energy was AWESOME!!!! I saved some of the confetti for our scrapbook.

The lady all the way to the right is one of the people we had fun chatting with. We compared pictures after the parade too. She was so nice.

All in all, even with the idiot woman, it was an awesome experience. I'm glad we did it.

Up next, off to Animal Kingdom for the rest of the day!!!

Sorry for all the stress. I hate people like that and for them to be in my happy place makes it even worse. But on the better side, you did get to see Drew Brees and soak in that Super bowl victory with him and hundreds of Saints fans.

EXACTLY!!!! :thumbsup2 I didn't let her ruin my parade. She just really ticked me off. It was my son's spot so that he could stand and be able to see better. Anyhoo, you know how that goes with parades.

Doncha hate it when people like that? Where do they get their audacity from? I would be embarrassed to talk to someone like that.

Congrats on controlling your temper. I hope that experience doesn't spoil your memory of the day. Hey, at least it's good TR fodder!

I always hate it when I'm saving spots and half of my family is gone on a bathroom break or something. I'm nervous that there'll be an episode like you experienced. It's a lot easier to save spots when everyone is in their spots.

oh man

Glad you were able to keep your cool. That woman sounded like a real piece of work :scared1:

The parade looked cool though....love all disney characters dressed in their sport gear :cheer2:

You did extremely well in a very stressful situation. I think I would have lost it :rotfl:, Jordan would have been seeing me give her the smackdown :rotfl2:. I'm kidding, or am I?

Great pictures, so sorry you had to put up with her.

Just felt the urge to say hi! Been awhile since I've been over here. :goodvibes Saw your light was on and all that... ;)
Hi there!! You must have posted while I was updating. I missed your post earlier! :)

Thanks. I'm not sure how I held my temper but glad I did.....well, I can't exactly say that I would have done anything in front of everyone. I know better than that. Apparently she doesn't. :sad2:

I know what you mean about the saving the spots thing. I always said that if we DID do a parade at WDW that we will all be in our spots with snacks in hand and already having gone to the restroom.

oh man

Glad you were able to keep your cool. That woman sounded like a real piece of work :scared1:

I don't know what it is about me at WDW. Remember my May 2008 trip with the stinky foot lady??? :rolleyes1 :headache: I don't THINK I'm wearing a sign that says "mess with me!!"....unless someone keeps sticking one on my back. :confused3 :rotfl:

The parade was cool. The characters were so cute in their sports gear. Minnie was a cheerleader. Too cute and funny.

Good for you for keeping your cool.........I can't stand running into people like that...ESPECIALLY in a place like Disney World! When I face a situation like that, I try to overlook it by thinking about all of the GOOD people that I've met at WDW. There are tons of friendly people in the parks........unfortunately, you get a rotten apple once in awhile!

The parade looked like fun and truly "once in a lifetime!" I'm glad you got to see Drew Brees and enjoy it with all of the Saints fans! :goodvibes

I remember you telling us about THE WOMAN later that day !!! I hate it when people push in front of you!!! On our very first ever day at Disney !! We went to AK and stacked out a spot with a planter type bench and all sat there except for me going to Pizzafari for some breadsticks !! We chatted to a very nice CM for about 30 mins . He left for a few and this family came and stood in front of us ! My daughterr told them they couldn't stand or sit there as it was to close to the parade !! Of course they ignored her !! The nice CM came back and told them to move , they tried to say we should move and he told them "NO"We were fine and had been for the last 40 minutes !! They were not happy but had to move !!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
