I just signed up for National's Emerald Club, but every time I try to make a reservation online, it automatically changes my level of service to Counter. Is there no Emerald Aisle service at MCO or am I doing something wrong? That's the only reason I signed up for the club, for the aisle service.

Thanks.

It will switch you to counter if you want to rent a car seat or if you are trying to use an upgrade coupon. I can't think of any other reason you'd be bumped to counter though.

What are you trying to rent? Intermediate? or another size?

I was trying to get a booster seat and renting a full-size car. So, I have to wait in line, then, huh?

Thanks!

Yep, if you want a booster seat or try using an upgrade coupon, you must visit the counter, unfortunately. Otherwise, you could bypass the counter if you didn't need the booster seat or if you were using any other kind of coupon.

Those are the two reasons you'd have to go to the counter.

Even if you do have to go to the counter, there is a separate line for Emerald Club members. We've had to do this a few times and I don't think there was ever more than one person ahead of us.

HI, Emerald Club Aisle Rental is only up to Intermediate cars. A Full Size rental means you have to visit the counter, and you are given a FULL size car. Joan :flower: :flower: :flower:

Yes this is true--but you can use the Emerald Reserve with a full size or large and a coupon as long as it is not an upgrade coupon. I have been doing this for 10 years with no problem.

Nope, no need to go to the counter. With Emerald Club, you bypass the counter.

Emerald Aisle service is when you book an Intermediate and then you head to the Emerald Aisle and you will get an Intermediate (or possibly an upgrade). With Emerald Reserve, you book the size you need/want and head to that aisle and that is the size you will get.

Both services bypass the counter. Only way you won't bypass the counter with Emerald Club is with an upgrade coupon or renting a booster seat.

OH, I always have my res. changed to counter ( this is what the original poster was asking about) because I use a COUPON from the Entertainment Book. not because it is a full size car. Thanks for clarifying that with me! Joan :flower: :flower: :flower:

Thanks for all the information! It's still Florida law that a 5 year old would need a booster seat, right? We'll be bringing our infant's car seat on the plane.

Thanks!

Actually the law is that 3 and under need a car seat; Four and over do not.

Actually I am using an Entertainment coupon and I still got Emerald Reserve for my full-size car. Its not an upgrade coupon, just a discount coupon. :wave2:

We were in Florida last August. Our youngest DD was 5 years and 4 months. Florida law says that she is fine without a car seat. We did not bring one and she was fine and safe in the back seat of the rental car. She is a big 5, if that matters.

Here is some info on the law:
"What Florida Law says about...
Child Restraint Requirements

All children under the age of 18 must be buckled up while riding in any car, pickup truck, or van on Florida's roads, no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle.
Children through the age of 3 must be secured in a federally approved child-restraint seat.
Children ages 4 through 5 must be secured by either a federally approved child-restraint seat or a safety belt.
Drivers are responsible for buckling up the child.
The cost to a violator will be a minimum of $60.00 plus $10.00 court costs." This comes from http://www.fhp.state.fl.us/html/Floridalaw/fllaw.html

It all comes down to... do you feel comfortable with your child in a normal seat belt? I was, so we didn't bring the car seat. It is up to you.

This only happens if you are using an UPGRADE coupon. If the coupon is just for $$$ off.... you should not be switched to counter service at MCO. I used the $20 off coupon and got to use EA. I just handed the coupon to the exit booth with my other info.

Hey,

For my first time trying this National Club thing, I was able to get a Chevy Blazer emerald Aisle without using a coupon upgrade, for 250 bucks for 8 days! WOW. Thanks to mousesavers. The upgrade coupon bumps you to the counter.
