OK. Thanks to you all, I got an awsome rate on an intermediate car (Jan 20 - 25) $123 including tax. I use the priceless code and the $20 off entertainment book coupon from the free trial.

OK now how does this work? I have never used EA before. Can I go straight to pick out a car or do I go to a counter with the coupon first? Do you get to pick any car in the emerald Isle section? Does mean you get a free upgrade if there is something on the lotter better than an internediate car?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but the search is not up yet.

TIA

you've got everything right :)

go downstairs and cross the street to the garage, following the signs for national. find the emerald aisle and pick any car you see (from what i hear lately they are pretty much intermediates these days). the keys are in it. drive to the exit, stop at the booth and present your confirmation email, your coupon, your license and a credit card. that's it!

when it is just dh and i we are often out of the airport in like 20 mins!

You can go straight to the garage for Side A, or Side B, depending on where you airline parks....if all else fails listen to the announcement on the shuttle to the main terminal they'll tell you A or B so you can get your luggage; if you checked any. One level down from the luggage things are the rental car counters....skip them and go to the garage across the street, following the directions for National. Once in the National area you can pick any car parked in the section marked Emerald Aisle. Look it over, then drive to the exit booths, having your coupon, credit card, drivers license ready to present to the booth attendant. Assuming there are no problems, you should be finished in two minutes or so. Exit the garage and head for WDW. We prefer the South Exit from the airport, which takes you to Hwy. 417, which leads to WDW area---after paying two $1 tolls :smooth:

Crazywig,

I noticed you said it was pretty much just intermediate cars these days. I've been getting quotes for full-size cars using Emerald Reserve.

Does this mean even if I reserve that, I'm going to be hard-pressed to find one when I get there?

Thanks,

Deb

The full size row is separate from the EA. You should not have a problem getting a full size if that is what you reserved.

With the EA you are guaranteed an intermediate sized car... that is what you pay for. In the past, National would put larger cars on the aisle if they had a surplus of them. Examples would be full size, minivans, and suv's. With the inception of the Executive Aisle for frequent renters, the EA has basically been reduced to mostly intermediates with larger cars only on the aisle if you are lucky. That is what crazywig was referring to. The EA had 30 or so intermediates on the aisle when I was there in August.... as we loaded up a Stratus, they pulled up a brand new Impala (Full size). We unloaded the Stratus and loaded up the Impala... we go lucky....

I get it now.

I just checked some of the rates and actually, a full-size for 10 days in Feb. using the priceless code and Entertainment discount came out to $187.41. An intermediate came out to $177.-something.

I thought both of those rates seemed pretty good for 10 days.
