Nassau Public (free)Beach Advice

I am interested in a public (free) beach in Nassau. I have found on the net a beach across from Senor Frogs that is beside of the British Colonial Hilton that is public and rents chairs and umbrellas. Just so happens that it is walking distance from the port. Also heard that Cable Beach is also a nice beach. Has anyone used either of the two beaches and what are your tips?

Actually, all of the beach on Paradise island is technically "public." You just can't use the hotel chairs and facilities. You can take a cab over there, access the beach from the public area, and walk down behind the hotels if you want. It's usually $4 to $5 per person.

Is that $4 or $5 for the cab or access to the beach?

$4.00 for the cab, the public beaches are free. Our cab ride was quite an adventure (I don't think they have a speed limit!) Enjoy!! Cathie & The Gang

are there restrooms, any chair rentals, a place to purchase a soda, snack etc? Do the cab drivers "hang around" for folks that need a ride back?

Cathie, can you be more specific please...where exactly did you ask the cab driver to drive you to? I'd like a really nice beach, clean. I suppose we'll bring a lunch from the ship? They'll be five of us, so the taxi would be about 20.00 to the beach? And is that round trip. thanks!
