I just received my excursion guide today and with an 11 month old DD (at time of sailing), most excursions are not applicable. We did notice that the Glass Bottom Boat excursion says "All ages," so here are my questions:

1. Has anyone participated in this excursion? Is is worth it?
2. Where does this excursion meet for pick-up?
3. Is there transportation involved (we won't have a car seat) in order to get to pick-up place?
4. What kind of boat is it?
5. Is the boat safe for an 11 month old infant?

Any info that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. My DH wants to visit Atlantis, but we don't want to go on water taxis nor land taxis with our DD as we don't feel that this would be safe, and perhaps the Glass Bottom Boat Excursion wouldn't be either, so I would appreciate any opinions and info about this excursion.

Thanks, Tiger aka Piglet's Momma

We did it in 2002 and felt it was a HUGE waste of time and money! Of course our kids are older and hubby and I are divers but it was not worth the cheap admission price!

They take you on a double decker boat (or at least they did with us) and you go out about 20 min from the DCL dock. Pretty soon they invite you down to the "basement" of the boat and it is pretty awful down there! It was filthy dirty and COLD! You look through these glass pane type window things for about 10-15 min and then you go back up the treacherous steps to the main deck or upper deck of the boat. We went to the top deck just to get warm because we were freezing! My 9 year old dd and I slipped on the way down the steps. They were wet and very steep.

We met right at the end of the pier and walked down about 1/2 way to the boat. No taxi was needed but it was kind of a long walk with kids. If you had a stroller it might be ok..we did not.

Our boat was a double decker kind of dive boat but the viewing area was scary and they stop and the boat rocks back and forth with the waves. It was hard to keep the kids interested (they were 9, 7 and 3 at this time) and after about 10 min they were bored. I dont know if I would consider taking my 11 month old on something like this. I think you'd be better off staying on the cruiseship and just hanging out in Mickey's ear!

I would say the boat was safe for an 11 mo old if they dont want to walk around or explore! They seemed to have adequate life jackets but it was just boring..a real yawner for all of us! We took the inlaws as well and they were just as bored as we were and they dont dive like hubby and I do.

We got seasick in the bottom of the boat just because it was rocking back and forth....for us we'd never do it again!

Thanks - this is exactly the info I was looking for! I suffer from motion sickness as well so I always have my Relief Band with me, but we were worried about our DD in regards to safety, motion sickness, conditions of boat, etc...

Thanks a bunch for the excellent report! Tiger

Yeah I think you would be MUCH better off staying on board with your 11 mo old dd!! Especially if you suffer from Motion Sickness. I suffer terribly but didnt get really bad because we had gone diving that morning and I had taken an extra Meclizine but my inlaws struggled badly with the motion as did my 9 year old dd.

The boat was dirty and it really honestly was boring! I think I'd just stay on the ship and enjoy the pools when they aren't so crowded! Atlantis is neat but I dont think your dd would enjoy that either! I think the ship is a much better choice!

Have a great time no matter what you decide to do!
