Can someone please tell me what a Napoleon is?? We plan on getting a snack at Boulangerie Patisserie, just wanted to know ahead of time?? & are they good...tia

A Napoleon is a layered dessert. It is generally multiple layers of puff pastry and some sort of filling (whipped cream, custard, jam, etc) and sometimes it will have powdered sugar on top. I think they are quite good, but prefer the chocolate mousse or cream puff.

My mom and I shared one back in June. Soooo good! layered pastry with a whipped pastry cream and powdered sugar on top. Super messy but so worth it.

Although the one at Disney seems to, not all napoleons have powered sugar on top. I worked at a local bakery for years, and our napoleons have white cake icing with a chocolate swirl on top. The cream puffs had the powered sugar, however. And yes, napoleons are a taste of heaven. I cannot wait to go to Epcot France!

Not sure if people are still looking at this thread or not, but I just wanted to let people know that the Napolean in France is better than the one at Starring Rolls. Starring Rolls was less flaky and had icing on top, rather than powdered sugar. The filling was also not as light and tasty. So, if you're thinking of trying one, make it the one from Boulangerie Patisserie in France and you won't be disappointed!

IMHO, the Napolean at Starring Rolls is what a Napolean is supposed to be, at least what we used to eat when we were kids. I'll have to try the one in France. I am also open to new things when it comes to desserts.:rotfl2:
