Name on ID Card

After months of waiting for my ID card --they sent one last June -- I finally got a second card today. I was surprised that it has my husband's name on it (just like the 1st one) since my already expired temporary card had my name on it. The CM at MS said that they issue permanent cards only in the primary owner's name.

So my question is, will I ever need any ID in addition to the the Card that shows that I am also an owner? If so, what should that be? We have different last names. I can't think of anything I have (except things that can be printed for a small fee such as checks of business cards) that has both our names on it. Thanks -- Suzanne -- Not Bruce

Both my husband and I have our own cards with our own names with differing surnames on them. Not sure why they wouldn't in your case. :confused3

I cannot answer your question about what other type of ID you might need, but I am puzzled about what the CM said about only issuing you a permanent card in the primary owner's name. When you purchased DVC, did you buy it in your husband's name only? Is his name the only name on the deed? Not meaning to pry here but my reason for asking this is because if your name was also on the paperwork when you purchased, you should have been issued a card in your own name. My husband and I are both listed as owners of our DVC points. Both of our names are on the deed. We were sent two cards, one in each of our names.

Looks like DVC is raising the Chauvinism problem again. I am the one who did all the shopping for DVC and all the contact with the guide, and we purchased it together. Our Membership cards have each of our names on them, and if they came anyother way, I would be on the phone to my guide faster than you could say,"what gives"! I also make all the ressies, and DH wouldn't even know how to begin going about that!

Our cards also have both of our names on them as both of us are on the deed.

DH purchased points in only his name, and now he's gone through the trouble and money to change it to both our names since I was unable to have a card since he was listed as the owner. Only the owner (which can be two people....then they issue two cards one to each owner with their name on it). Only he could make the ressies when it was in his name only. Check to see if your name is on the deed, if not, you can go through the time and money to have it changed, but then you may run into a ROFR problem. I'm not quite sure how that works in this type of situation.
Good Luck!

Thanks to all these responses, I callled MS back, spoke to a different CM and he said of course, as an owner, I could have a card issued in my name! It is too bad that CMs give such conflicting info. :sad2: Where would we be without the DIS Boards? Well, I for one, would not be a DVC owner because it was the information provided here that made it possible for me to understand the DVC program enough that I felt comfortable taking the plunge.

Thanks again to all of you who take the time to post here. -- Suzanne
