Teachers who abuse children should be prosecuted criminally. I saw enough in the public schools in the 60s-70s to never be able to believe "The teacher is always right." My 5th grade teacher once put his hands around a boy's neck and drug him by the neck across the room. It left such a mark on me just to observe it that I can still see it in my mind 35 years later.
One time my husband told me about his jr. high gym teacher who would pick a boy each year and have him strip naked and then, using his hands, show the other boys the various muscles in the boy's body. Of course, DH never told his parents about this. Later we read in the paper (it made the national wires) that this teacher had been charged with sexual abuse of a student...this would have been about 25 years after my husband had him for a teacher...so it took that long for some one to finally speak up!
Parents, really pay attention to the stories your kids come home with (not just about what happened to them, but also what happens to other kids) and if you think a teacher is out of line, speak up!
