I had some friends go to WDW last week. They bought 7 day never expire MYW tickets and used three days. They did not know there were 10 day tickets (I did chastise them for not checking with me first:) ). Can they upgrade to the 10 day tickets when they return? Also, could they add the 5 days of water parks as well? Thanks, Donna

Absolutely!!!

Because their passes are used, their 10 day will have to be the same configuration as their 7 day passes. So they will have to put the non-expiration on the 10 day. If they had the hopper option on the 7 day, it'll have to be on the 10 day as well.

If they DIDN'T have the Magic Plus Pack, but they want it, it can definitely be added

Thanks! I was thinking that they could but I wasn't positive . We're trying to convince them to come with us in June and I think this was the final determining factor.

The way I was told it was --- if your friends had upgraded the tickets before they returned home (within 6 or is it 13 days of first use) they could have converted the 7 day pass with 3 days spent into a 10 day pass with 3 days spent for $59. which is $11. for the 3 extra days and $48. for the difference in non-expiration cost.

What they can do now is trade in the old pass with 4 more days at a value of $176. or 4/7'ths its $308. gate price towards a new $367. ten day non-expiring pass. $191. more dollars for six more days.

Is trading worht it? Depends on how many days they want to end up with for the next trip and trip after that. It is highly undesirable to use the old ticket as-is and also buy a new 1 to 5 day ticket to finish the vacation with. Buying a new 10 day non-expiring pass outright will cost $37. per day, a 7 day Expiring pass costs $36. per day.

Either way they could add the plus pack for yet $48. more.

(All prices above include tax and hopping. Not sure whether trade in value is really pre-tax purchase price in which case you will have to shell out a few dollars more.)

Can you upgrade the tickets over the phone?

I want to upgrade my 7 day MYW base to 10 day hopper with non-exp. Do I do this at the hotel or at MK or TTC?

Normally you upgrade MYW tickets at your resort, at Guest Relations just inside or outside any park, or Guest Relations at Downtown Disney.

If you already left WDW and it is less than 14 days from first usage you can try calling to see if you can add non-expiration to a partially used ticket or expand the used ticket to as if it originally had 10 days (if that is what you want to accomplish), but that is a long pessimistic shot. Other kinds of upgrades, and adding non-expiration to an unused ticket, can wait until your next visit, saving the phone call.
