Wait what !?!?!?

They aren't ASKING for FEEDBACK from this round of testing !?!??!?!

I know..... kind of mind blowing, isn't it?

I assume they are so far into it they are only checking for some specific functional things from their end. But still....... to go to all that trouble and actually admit they aren't collecting feedback....... just seems odd.

Just tells me most is already written in stone..
No stopping the train with some kind of real roll out next.. IMHO

i agree 100%. in fact, i would venture to say that the tests and roll out have been going pretty much as Disney brass has intended. maybe not as we would like or CM's would like, but most likely how the brass envisioned.

a few years ago our town was having meetings about an intersection, lights, etc... being put in. they had regular meeting specific to this topic and let us residents voice our opinions on numerous occassions. in one meeting i stood up and asked what the source of funding was..they stated it was an application for funds from the state. i then asked what was put on the application as the reason for funds request. they stated the application was for a new intersection with lights. so i then stated to all the attendees that this was what was going to happen, no more, no less than what was approved by the state on the application and that our opinions didn't matter. i'll let you guess what we ended up getting installed the next summer....

I agree. I think we'll see this roll out for real very soon.

Have to agree with all of you, and I am not sure that makes me feel any better about this, since my hope was that they would listen to feedback and make some changes ....

And I know the types of meetings you are talking about Digit, very common in many levels of government and politics. They are used to create the appearance of "listening" or being open to feedback etc. But quite often the decisions have been make long long in advance in backrooms for ulterior motives...

Get it rolled out and see how it works, then adjust if needed.

I actually agree at this point. Rip the stinkin bandaid off already.

Of course, that's easy for me to say since we don't have a WDW trip on the books.

I do end of Oct and I'm guessing some kind of roll out will be in force by then..

one thought i have about the FP+ testing and rollout is this...it seems the general consensus based on verbage from Disney is that there will be 3 or 4 FP+ per day only. Also that FP- will ultimately go away. However they have been testing with double dipping permitted. I know that the testing has been in limited numbers, but what if they actually do allow additional one-at-a-time FP's utilizing the magicbands/RFID KTTW after a person has used up their 3 FP+ per day? i know everyone is going to say there won't be enough FP+ available, etc...but maybe we are all reading too deeply into this and the limit on 3 FP+ refers to prebooking to include the initial 3 booked same day for those who haven't booked in advance? also, the bonus FP+ is there way to adjust for high and low crowd levels. maybe they've figured out that during the busiest seasons, 3 FP+ will mathematically work but during lower crowd levels, they can add more.

That would IMHO be the perfect system. An actual "Plus" to the current FP. However if that is the case why the secrecy? Why would Disney allow a buildup up of such negative sentiment when they could simply alleviate it by confirming more than 3 a day? They could word the FAQ as currently but add "prescheduled" to the "up to 3" and then say "additional day of as availability allows." Also why are so many testers being told they won't be able to use FP-?

For my family I can almost deal with the 3 per day, I won't like it but it's doable. The one park per day is the killer for me. We like to hop, and we like to spontaneously pick the morning or afternoon park depending on ADR's. This system takes that away unless we want to depend on standby or schedule everything.

I agree that this would be the perfect system, a true Fast Pass ... PLUS.... but I don't think this is how its going to pan out. Although, maybe its possible this is how it will work out in the low season ? As you noted Digit, they will be able to adjust as they wish, so they COULD allow additional same day FPs in low season.

As for the 3 a day vs 4 or more ? Agree, 3 could ALMOST work, but what doesn't work is the inflexibility. Even though we generally plan which park on which days etc, we always change the plans, either due to environmental factors, emotional/physical factors, or whatever.

A True FP PLUS system, would still allow that same day flexibility but ALSO offer some pre-booking. It looks like we will be trading off No pre-booking with during trip flexibility, for pre-planned but rigid trip days.

That would IMHO be the perfect system. An actual "Plus" to the current FP. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised...let's hope so. However if that is the case why the secrecy? Why would Disney allow a buildup up of such negative sentiment It's highly likely that the build up of negative sentiment is primarily here on the DIS and other forums. I'd be willing to bet that to any other guest or prospective guest there is no negativity, downside or perhaps even knowledge yet of the upcoming changes. we have to remember that DIS'rs are likely living in a very small bubble with regards to the overall WDW guest population. when they could simply alleviate it by confirming more than 3 a day? They could word the FAQ as currently but add "prescheduled" to the "up to 3" and then say "additional day of as availability allows." Also why are so many testers being told they won't be able to use FP-? That may mean just the FP- hardware is going to dissappear but FP functionality could certainly remain with the new distribution system....

It's interesting to see how soon this will roll out after testing I also wonder how they will do a rollout. I mean its not like everyone starts their vaca on day X. So how will they implement it for people already in the middle of a trip...

I have to think they will roll it out by resort based on check-in date. Sort of like how the test is set up. Only instead of ending, they'll move on to other resorts to fold into the mix. Then DVC, APs and I'm guessing offsite will be last.

Who the heck knows though.

I've called up 3 separate times now and each time I've been told that whilst trialling the fastpass+, we can also get regular fast passes with no restrictions (other than the normal fastpass rules). That means you can get multiple fast passes (regular) should you park hop. I alluded to what I have read, and the last operator said that you can takes this as being from the horse's mouth. Will know for sure on the 3rd

Hi. I got to customize our magic bands but then what? Updated our address too. Do they just send them out as soon as this is done? There was no button to order them?? Thanks.

Based on what's been posted so far, there should be a cut off date for customization. Once that date passes, the MagicBands will be shipped. In your case, they will actually be sent to the resort since they only ship MagicBands to US addresses.

It sounds like they've already gotten all the input they need for the magic bands and so now they're just rolling them out slowly so that they can see how the computer system performs with more and more people using them. We're looking forward to this new system. Through all the discussions it still sounds like it is going to serve our needs much better than the old FP.

IMHO no more input ... After this big test.. Some form of a mass roll out...

WDW change = negative comments. Period. Yesterday, I looked back at DDP rollout, which was announced just before the rollout. Guess what? Plenty of complaints. Now folks post about early DDP as a golden age. 'DDP is confusing, people will abuse it, and rollout is messy,...' http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3143286&page=2 , post #30

My guess is that you will preplan 3-4 FP+ per day, but that Disney will offer more on the day, as they see fit. It just seems logical that a big part of the advantage of FP+ is for Disney to relocate guests. At HS, too many folks go to TSM at 9am. With FP+, guests won't. Beyond that, a significant number of folks are now concentrated in that area. Plenty of room to improve flow.

Another way to think about it is to look at SE (Epcot). Often, the worst (only) line is at 9AM. Folks ride the first ride they see. Meanwhile, TGM makes money by telling folks how to evade those patterns. Is that really the best system? Sure TGM isn't going to like FP+, but the average guest experience will improve. Right now, they wait in the TSM logjam, then follow it to Star Tours/RNRC...Old FP doesn't optimize distribution. A small improvement in distribution = more :) guests. (Maybe WDW owns TGM?)

I don't think it's a conspiracy. I just needs bodies and computers to see if their distribution algorithms are working.

I think Disney will add hopping eventually to FP+, but right now, it's too complicated. Then again, I don't see why you wouldn't hop. If anything, FP+ makes hopping more attractive. Under current FP, hopping is NOT in our best interest. If we planned to hop from MK to HS at noon, there's a time gap in MK of no collecting FP- plus another big gap of no using FP after hopping.

Now, you can go to MK at RD- ride FP and non-FP attractions till lines get long- hop - start using FP right away.. Later, if you hop again- no FP in your third park, but late in the day you may not need them.

then again....if FP + operates the way I think it will, Disney will know you've hopped, don't have any FP. You will be a prime candidate for pop-up FP+'s.

Then again, If you are hopping to MK around 6pm....you've likely a dinner ADR and plan to see parade/fireworks. In other words, a solid chunk of time that you are NOT going on rides.
