So I wonder if you have a WDW resort reservation with no tickets (ie. you are going to buy your ticket thru UT, SoG etc.) will you still be able to use FP+ 60 days prior to arrival. Also I noticed the "My Disney Experience" app on the iPhone allows you to scan in your ticket. Perhaps it will be possible to scan in your "Stars & Stripes" ticket once you arrive and have it attached to your experience/band. The verbiage keeps saying WDW Resort guests will be able to FP+ 60 days out, nothing about the need to buy a "package"

Yes, you can! I have a DVC room only reservation and bought 9 day hoppers. I have linked my tickets to the MDE and for those of use without packages this is how magic bands will be set up ahead of time. I have called the ticket and technical support people a few times and got consistan information that this is how it will be done. I have linked my tickets and can now is them in the app.

Any timescale on full roll out for this? We are staying onsite at POR in December & I would love a magic band!

I also wonder how it will work for UK guests when they are at full roll out? Will they ship the bands to us? I presume so, as they FedEx/UPS party tickets at the moment.

Exciting!

4- Your presumption is as good as any.

Thanks for the pics, whatsarahsaid. Very interested in checking all this out as our trip in late October approaches.

This is so confusing. I am going to skip all these magic band threads and hope I figure it out when I get there.

We are testing beginning today.Unfortunately I left the bands home but my husband is bringing them today when he arrives.my children and I have been here for a few days prior. After some initial trouble linking the tickets we were fine. The CM on the phone said that the tickets may have to be reactivated at the gate if we wanted to use them before we are to start with the bands. We went yesterday to MK and had no trouble at all.I wanted to be able to set up fast passes for the weekend when all 4 if us are here together so thats why had to link all of our tickets.
I will try to post back how it works.

What verbiage are you referring to? The only verbiage I am aware of doesn't mention resort guests, but Magic Your Way Ticket and Annual Pass holders specifically.

I just attached my tickets from 2010 to MDE.

IF you attach your Magic Band or admission card (not a ticket) to MDE, then ONLY the Magic Band or card can be used for park entry.

So, if I do not attach my Magic Band to MDE, I can still use my old tickets for park entry.

I guess since I have a resort reservation AND I have ATTACHED tickets to MDE, I will be able to use Fastpass+ sixty days prior to my arrival!

This does presume that you can actually get the MagicBands prior to your trip. If they aren't available to you then, then you'll need to spend some time getting the tickets reactivated/reissued.

Thanks for all the info, it's really helped me get my head around the new MyMagic+ system.

I've one question though, (It may already be answered but my SearchFu was lacking) I don't really want a Magicband, not for any paranoid security reason (I work with security access control so am surrounded by RFID tags ;) ) but simply I don't like things on my wrists, but I do understand the usefulness of the RFID system so when I get my new AP for Jan I'll be grabbing a plastic RFID pass.

So onto the actual question. I know the card will allow me to enter the parks through the new turnstiles but are they expected to work with the Fastpass+ system too? What about the traditional Fastpass system? Are the plastic APs in the position of being able to use both?

Yes.

Woohoo! Please do let us know how it goes.

does anyone know what the bands and accessories are made of? I want to know if they are latex free or not. :confused3

They appear to be silicone-based which would be latex-free.

Is there a way it could work if you were going to be buying annual passes when you arrived? I think we are going to buy them through DVC so maybe they can give us some way of doing that link?

If you aren't going to purchase annual passes, or any other type of ticket, before you arrive, then the way it appears now you will not be able to pre-book any attractions until you get that ticket.

If you _order_ your tickets ahead of time, even for will-call pickup, you should be able to. You should get a receipt for will-call pickup that will have a code to register (from what I saw on the site).
