A few questions:

1. I saw one previous poster state that an AP worked on his/her MagicBand, have there been other DISers that have been successful in linking an AP to a MagicBand?

2. Is the testing still limited to a handful of resorts or has it expanded to all the resorts? We are staying at CSR in early September and I'd love to know if anyone at CSR is in the test currently?

Well, if you were truly dedicated you'd had down early. For us, you know. ;)

Yes, and I'll be testing everything and reporting back constantly. :)

We'll be down there at the same time...but I'll be on the outside looking in, so to speak :(

We'd probably be glad to let you in and share the dipping, as they say. ;)

Kidding of course...maybe.

Interesting comments from Iger....

Disney Profits inch up..

Iger said the project began a new "beta phase" Aug. 2 in which the systems will ultimately be used by more than 80,000 customers. He said guests who have used the features in early tests have reacted positively, though he did not elaborate.

Iger said Disney is now targeting a "probable full rollout in the early part" of its 2014 fiscal year, which begins in October. Executives had previously said they were aiming to have MyMagic+ fully implemented by the end of this year.

Being in the UK, there's a glitch (surprise, surprise!) in terms of logging into my reservation on the main website, but I can pull it up okay on the iPhone app. Where abouts on the app should I be looking for the MagicBands info, i.e. what heading is it under?

Thanks again!

Look under My Account. "MagicBands & Cards"

Ta, I don't see it under there, but I'm actually a Septemberite, so probably being a bit keen!

This fits into what I am hearing from CMs. One told me 2 days ago their info is the remaining turnstiles will be taken out by the middle of Sept.

the sheets that they are providing with the bands say its a test. it also says they want feedback from the parts that were good and bad (or similar wording). that means to me that there is a possibility for something to go wrong.

There is always a possibility things will go wrong. So far, my testing experience has been flawless.

A friend sent me this link asking about magic bands. The link is to a photo of magic bands posted by a Disney travel agent. In the comments of the photo, the TA says since August 1st they have been receiving bands for guests arriving in September that have been chosen to test. So far theyve had clients staying at Pop, Contemporary, WL and CSR and CBR. :yay:

I don't want to get too excited because we might be at a resort where they haven't rolled out magic bands yet but it looks like they are expanding the resorts in September. I think it would be really fun to test and if we run into any issues we will just opt out and use KTTW.

(BTW, I don't know this agent just wanted everyone to be able to read the comments on the photo for themselves so if I need to remove the link please let me know.)

I just got an e-mail this morning that my Magic Bands have shipped, but the UPS tracking shows they should be arriving today! It's exactly day 17 for us. I'm getting really excited about this. I'm just wondering how it's going to work with the 3 FP+ and also getting additional regular FPs throughout the day.

Pardon me if this has been asked before. I didn't see it on the first page. Does everyone in the same room have to do the same FP+ attractions? My DS and I will be traveling together in December and we occasionally separate and ride different rides. Can individuals book the FP+ rides and attractions independently of one another? Thx! :goodvibes

That's awesome! Still holding out hope they'll add in the BWI :yay:

You can schedule different FP+ reservations for different people. But with some of the glitches the Web site has been experiencing, it may take some work to get those separate reservations correct.

I am at Epcot today. Had to come in early through the breakfast line. Those are still legacy. The CM had me use my AP to get in and my AP still worked. Just throwing the info our there there FWIW.

That is the understanding at this point. But that is 3 FP+ in advance. It is unclear what will be available to each guest during the day.

It remains to be seen what the ultimate impact will be. We don't know how Disney is handling advance FP+ vs. same-day vs. standby. We may not even begin to figure it out until well after everything is live.

ADRs becoming unavailable at 180s doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to.

Thank you for answering! I hope its 3+ in advance. I would hate to lose the ground we usually cover because we're limited to how many FP we can get in a day.

You are totally right re: ADR's, except perhaps Be Our Guest? ;)

Yes, BOG is definitely on the exception list. :)

Here is an interesting rumor, relayed to me this morning from another DISer, but this is TOTALLY a rumor (of course), but seems to me to be reasonably likely:

Locals (at least) will be able to get a MagicBand and open a "digital wallet" type account - essentially a debit account - that can be auto-replenished from a credit card (AMEX was specifically mentioned, not sure it is limited to that).

This could be Disney's way of mimicking the "charge to room" system for non-resort guests, rather than having to deal with a "direct charge by proxy" system, which the credit card companies might not like. It also gets guest money into their hands earlier, which companies always like.

Sort of proves out what I knew they could do, but wasn't sure if they would. Entitlements are decoupled from the actual media - your AP is really just a record in the database, and the card is a key to get to that record. You CAN have multiple keys (if implemented to handle it, and given how they can "re-issue" tickets easily, seemed to be the case), but they never really allowed it. But now that you have both a MagicBand _and_ a KTTW card that both work, and if an AP holder, that as well...each is a different key, but points to the same record.

It would be interesting to know if a KTTW card for a tester with an AP works for admission as well - I think it does because I think they can also be used for FP...an even more interesting test - can BOTH a KTTW card AND an AP get a Fastpass, or due you get a "This is not a valid Fastpass" because they are tied together...

Thanks Missy!! :goodvibes

Small world. We live in Ashburn, but I'll actually be at Reston Surgical Center tomorrow where my son will be having sinus surgery.

Yes you can do that. Until the end of July (when the KTTW card expired) I was able to secure FPs with both my AP, the KTTW card and make FP+ selections with my MB. The KTTW works even when that person is not the park as do the MBs. They are all detached from the system denying FPs if it wasn't used to enter the park. The APs do not give FPs though if the person hasn't entered the park.

When I had all 6 room keys and 5 APs, I could pull 11 FPs at the same time for 5 ppl in the park. Or pull 5 and 6 at different rides, etc.

The APs also work to pull FPs when you've used the MB to enter the park instead of using the physical AP.

I'll let you know in a week. Someone else here must have tried that already.

EDIT: I see delmar411 did it already. :)
