My tree is up! What about yours?

We have a Nov. 30 birthday (he will be twelve this year:eek:) so we always do 1) thanksgiving 2) kid birthday party 3) Christmas decorations. Keeps everything nice and orderly in my mind. (We have a Jan 12 birthday also, so we have a good reason to get all the decoration down too!)

Sounds a lot like ours, our schedule goes: Brother in law birthday, sister in law birthday, my anniversary, thanksgiving, husband's birthday, sons birthday christmas......with a couple surgeries in middle

Mines been up for a week. I am very excited about the Christmas holidays so I figured why not get a jump on it. One less thing I have to do in the few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas so that I can relax and enjoy my time with my family.

We will be out of town the day after Thanksgiving but will put up tree when we get back. ALSO our ELF will be making his/her debut this year!

But I wish your surgery well! And makes sense to decorate before your surgery.

First off, God bless you on your safe surgery.

Your tree is so pretty! I love the big balls! And that "cat in a beret". ;)

Our home trees will go up the week of Thanksgiving. I am off all week. So, it will happen on one of those days...

1) We put up our tree at work this week. The main reason is the "angel" aspect. We are doing an Angel Tree to sponsor needy kids. We only have a 4 week window for people to adopt, shop, and drop the gifts. If we had waited, we would only have 3 weeks. It seems like plenty, but honestly, that is not my job. It is a side thing that we do. I still have to do my actual job. A project like that is very time consuming.

So, we all had a blast putting it up and have already had 29 kids sponsored for the entire Christmas Wish List. That is a record! We were aiming for 40 sponsorships.

That afternoon, a co-worker fussed about the early tree. When she was told the reasoning, she said- I don't care. It is tacky!!

I get that some people think it ruins Thanksgiving, but there are often extenuating circumstances. (She is not helping with the Angels) Plus, I love Christmas and try not to judge others.

2) I have a theory. I love my theories, by the way...;)
I think that many people are decorating early and getting into the overall Holiday Spirit more seriously this year. I think it is because of the economy and the state of things. It seems that many of us are looking for something good and joyful. That was Halloween for some and other holidays for others. For some people in financial strife, decorating is free, because they have had their decor for many years. So, it is a cheap, fun activity.

It is about family, faith, and togetherness. No matter how much we spend, we can all enjoy this time of year. When you decorate does not change the meaning!

Our Christmas things will start going up next Sunday (22nd.) We usually wait until the w/e after Thanksgiving but my friend and her 3 yr old will be here for Thanksgiving.
