First off, God bless you on your safe surgery.
Your tree is so pretty! I love the big balls! And that "cat in a beret".
Our home trees will go up the week of Thanksgiving. I am off all week. So, it will happen on one of those days...

1) We put up our tree at work this week. The main reason is the "angel" aspect. We are doing an Angel Tree to sponsor needy kids. We only have a 4 week window for people to adopt, shop, and drop the gifts. If we had waited, we would only have 3 weeks. It seems like plenty, but honestly, that is not my job. It is a side thing that we do. I still have to do my actual job. A project like that is very time consuming.
So, we all had a blast putting it up and have already had 29 kids sponsored for the entire Christmas Wish List. That is a record! We were aiming for 40 sponsorships.
That afternoon, a co-worker fussed about the early tree. When she was told the reasoning, she said- I don't care. It is tacky!!
I get that some people think it ruins Thanksgiving, but there are often extenuating circumstances. (She is not helping with the Angels) Plus, I love Christmas and try not to judge others.
2) I have a theory. I love my theories, by the way...

I think that many people are decorating early and getting into the overall Holiday Spirit more seriously this year. I think it is because of the economy and the state of things. It seems that many of us are looking for something good and joyful. That was Halloween for some and other holidays for others. For some people in financial strife, decorating is free, because they have had their decor for many years. So, it is a cheap, fun activity.
It is about family, faith, and togetherness. No matter how much we spend, we can all enjoy this time of year. When you decorate does not change the meaning!
