My tree is up! What about yours?

Day after Black Friday..always. Lots of people coming for Thanksgiving and I want it to look like Thanksgiving. When we were little, mom always waited till one week or so before Christmas. Always a real tree out of our woods.

My family is going out for thanksgiving and of all places dennys my first non homemade thanksgiving

Love your tree, it is beautiful! I am definately in the spirit now :santa:

Hope the surgry goes well, and you heal quickly.

I think you are smart to do it before your surgery, I had a hysteromety(sp?) 2 years ago in Nov and no one put the tree up for me. They were all to busy! My surgery was stressful for them too. :upsidedow

Are you going to wrap the presents early, that would be great too!
I did make some freezer meals they could just heat up and my DS16 could make chilli for us.

Our tree is not up yet, we are still doing a super clean to the house and yard. We went to the dump today with a truck load and a trailer load too!
We still have a little more cleaning to do and then we will put up the tree and the outside decorations. :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Normally, our Christmas tree and all decorations get put into our library. This year, however, I decided to spruce up the living room also. Today I put up a small (2-3 foot) tree and have DD's American Girl doll next to it in her Christmas dress. I also switched out some of the things on my entertainment center for Christmas items. And, I decorated my kitchen a little for Christmas.

For the past 6 years or so, Thanksgiving has been at my house. This year, however, my Grandpa is deathly ill (was given 3-6 months to live. 6 month date is tomorrow) and we'll be having Thanksgiving at my mom's house so that no one has to travel (other than my family). So, since I don't know what the next few weekends hold in store, I decided to get a jumpstart on Christmas decorating. I have done very little shopping though.

Our family tradition is to put the tree up on Christmas Eve, but all of the other decorations go up on Thanksgiving weekend. We cut a live tree from a tree farm and will probably go the first weekend in December to get it. We'll be in Disney December 12-19, and I hope to have all shopping and wrapping done before we go so the tree is really all that will be left to do (and food shopping for Christmas Day). [Yeah, like that will really happen, but it sounds good :rotfl2:]

I have two of my trees up and I am going to work on the outside tomorrow. I will not lite anything until the week of thanksgiving though. I do it early because my house is so far from the street that you can't see anything until it's all lit up.:rotfl2: Plus, we will be gone for the holiday and I want everything up and ready when we come home after Thanksgiving. :thumbsup2

Oh yea, my kids all have their trees in their rooms already too. :dance3:

Its too early for Christmas decorating for me, that starts the day after Thanksgiving. This year I did decide to do a fall themed tree so that I could have one up early. So technically I have had a tree up since the last week of Oct ;)

Put my tree up the day after Halloween. I LOVE Christmas decorations. I'll keep them up till mid January. My whole family is nuts for Christmas. We just moved into a new house in May and it seems quite a few of my neighbors are in the spirit also- lots of house already with lights up. DH will put ours up next weekend.

I love christmas too I love the feeling you get from the holiday

We have a Dec bday girl so we will be putting ours up after her bday. :) That's our tradition. Besides this year we will be in DLR until the 17th so we wouldn't put one up until we got back anyway. :)

Good luck with your surgery, enjoy your tree! :)

Hi, We will be in WDW for Thanksgiving(we will return home Dec.1st) so I have started decorating the house for Christmas also. Our artificial tree will go up next weekend and our REAL tree will go up 2 weeks before Christmas. This week I am going to put my Snow Village out. I have a HUGH collection and it takes a while to get MOST of it out. (I actually do not have room for it all, but my 3 children have picked out most of it so it has alot of sentimental value to me) Your TREE looks REALLY pretty!! And GOOD LUCK with your surgery. :santa: Joan

We are leaving for WDW the day after Thanksgiving so we will put it up next weekend but I put up the tree in dd's bedroom today!!!:santa:

We just purchased our (fake) 9' tree at Costco. It's box is sitting in the dinning room right know. I am not sure when we will put it up. My DD (9) feels it is never to early.

I am scared to put my tree up. DD is getting married on Jan. 9th and we usually take down everything on Jan 1. but I've afraid it's going to be too crazy around here and things won't get taken down until march or april. Maybe around thanksgiving, since thanksgiving day is also my wedding anniversary.

wow a lot going on

Oh, pretty! Good luck with your surgery, my friend Jen had hers removed a few months back and now she feels like a new woman. I just had a laparoscopy/hysterscopy myself, so I know what you mean about getting things done when you can!

Yes, good luck with your surgery. I like your tree!

I add all my lights on my computer so I can control them here. It takes a little more time, but it's well worth it. I started yesterday and finished putting out my outside lights. I also put up two pre-lit trees (no ornaments yet).

Everything is hooked up and ready. I think I'll finish everything tomorrow. My family enjoys the decorations for Thanksgiving. With 5 kids and all their activities, husband's Christmas party, hockey games, etc, it's nice to be done early.

I was going to wait to light everything up until after Thanksgiving, but noticed many houses "a glow" in my neighborhood tonight while doing a light test. I just left them on. :upsidedow

Tell me more about your computer controling your lights@ Sounds like a winner..how do you do it?

Mine is up- since last weekend. I have competition this weekend with my corps. Next weekend I am having 1 side Thanksgiving then "regular" Thanksgiving, then we have Christmas parades and concerts for the girls at school, then we leave for 12 days in Disney. So if I didn't do it last weekend it wasn't going to happen.

OP (((hugs))) hope your sugery goes well and you have a speedy recovery!pixiedust:

No tree here not today tomorrow or christmas day not ever between the cats an gbabies I'd have ornaments everywhere but tree. DH hates the lights reflecting in the tv screen an never wants the lights on anyway so I have given up on trees an all the decor that goes with Christmas. It just a special day to spend with family here anyway.
