My thoughts about the new promotion due next week

Maybe you had a pin attached to your name. :confused3 That seems like a possibilty since you've been the only one who get get anyone to confirm this special. I did read another post about a pin offering hopper/plus passes.

I still find it strange that they booked and confirmed a room at a special rate that hasn't even been announced yet. Sorry, I just think there's more to it...sounds fishy to me. :fish: Guess all us other unfortunate people will just have to wait til Nov 3. :guilty:

Has to be. Nothing else is possible.

Well, I just got a receipt for a payment I made to AAA towards my vacation. I had asked her about the possible upcoming promotion. She said she didn't know, but would ask when she called disney to apply my payment. On the bottom of the receipt she wrote:

"Disney said that if a better discount comes up that applies to your reservations, they would acknowledge it. They weren't aware of any for Feb at this point. There have been discounts for Nov/Dec 2005."

She is clueless. I knew they would "acknowledge" any new discount! Dur!! Every good diser also already knew about the nov/dec discounts! If it weren't for the discount, I wouldn't even bother with AAA. I wish they had a disney specialist.

So let's say some package discount comes out Nov 3rd, and AAA changes your reservation to include the new code. Do you think there will be additional savings from AAA? I guess what I'm asking is if you got a quote with this new promotion with Disney directly and then called AAA for a quote, would the AAA be even less?

Thanks :flower:

HL, Hey!! I've been so cold today, and it's warmer than the last 2 days!!! As for your question about Mary, at Mousesavers, frankly, I'd take her word over any CM. She is pretty accurate and will NOT post info unless she's checked and rechecked it. I'd say that her info is the correct info. As for the OP, it does sound "odd" that he was able to get the "discount", since as far as any of the CM's seem to know doesn't exist yet.

Hanover, would you mind, telling us exactly what it is you booked? That might help us understand what discount you got. I'd like to know, since I'm hoping for a discount on the room part as well.

HL --- I didn't hear about SW, but, I did check SW the other day for a flight for my older DS, (who is away at college) and SW didn't have any flights into NO, it said that all flights to NO were not available. Do you know when they'll be flying again?? I hope it's before the trip. As you know we are driving, but I'm hoping for you guys you can get a good price on your flight.

Hey Wendy-
I first heard about it on here from someone who booked for December, so I guess they're starting up again pretty soon. There are 2 or 3 non-stop flights for our dates, butat $79 each way, that's no better than Delta. So I'm really hoping for a DING fare! :)

Not 100% sure, but I think it's either/or, meaning you can only get one discount...AAA or the possible new discount. I don't think you could get the AAA discount (15-20%) in addition to any special offer that Disney makes.

Hope that makes sense! It's just that because I have already booked with AAA, they are the only ones who can make changes to my ressie.

HL, I hope you find something better too. I actually got DS a flight from Uconn (hartford), to NO on delta for $145.00 YEP, I jumped on that so fast my head was spinning!!!

If I happen to see any flight specials I'll PM you!!! I got all my ADR's today too!!!!

Where did you get?? We got Chef Mickey's, WCC, Boma, LeCellier and Crystal Palace. I decided not to book Cindy's as it's now 2TS credits, and booked Boma instead, since it's at our resort, I thought we could do it one night for dinner, and now, we won't have to pay OOP for it.

That's a great fare on your son's flight! I hope the deals keep comin'!

We booked Chef Mickey's (dinner), Crystal Palance (lunch), Artist Point, and Kona Cafe (breakfast). That's just for the first few days while my parents will be there with us. After that, I'm not sure what where we're going to eat. If we decide to do the dining plan, I might add on a few more. I guess we should do WCC, too, since its at our hotel. I wonder what the chances are for getting a table without an ADR....?

I'm glad we went ahead and did the package with dining.......... it makes it easier. If you can't get an ADR for WCC, just look for the other cajuns, and pull up a chair!!! LOL DH really wants to eat at WCC, it looks like it's so much fun!!!

I'm thinking though that I might switch Boma, and do the Fantasmic Dinner, the CM today told me that it is on the dining plan and is only 1TS, so since we were going to do Boma OOP anyway, I might change it. Are you guys going to do Fantasmic?? We've never done it.......... so, I'm excited. Anyway, I'll keep a watch out for you too for flights.

Wendypooh-
All I did was simply as the CM if there was indeed a promotion beginning on November 3rd. She said she didn't hear of it yet. I read, word for word, what I had seen on Mousesavers. She put me on hold, came back and said yes and I booked exactly what I wanted...5 days at CBR, 5 days of tickets and dining. I got the hoppers and the water parks, etc. for "free." She read the exact package and figures off to me, and then I verified once again I got the promotion. I did not know that no one else had gotten it, or that it would be so difficult for others to get information out of any of the other CM's. I don't know if they are told not to tell customers about promotions before they specifically begin unless they are asked or what. All I know is that I got exactly what I asked for. I also told the CM that I had gotten a better quote without the hoppers from AAA and asked if they could match it. She said no, AAA can discount the whole package and they can only discount the room. I was happy I got what I called for, got my confirmation number and hung up.

D4est:
My AAA agent said that I would qualify to receive the promotion on top of their discounted package as soon as they could confirm it. She did say, however, that sometimes they increase the price of the rooms. She said I'd continue to get any discount until our trip.

I received the PIN email about 3-4 weeks ago--free hopping and "water parks" and a DISCOUNTED Package-- $1250 for 2A, 1J, 1 C for 6 nights at Value and 7 day tickets (with 5 plus options). This is a good discount as far as I can tell. If I were going without a discount I would pay Value season rack rate and buy just base MYW tickets. This package was $100 less than that. For the exact same options as the discounted Package (with no discount) I would have had to pay $400 more.

I booked it. The time period is for Jan 1st through March 8 and the stays can be changed to anywhere from 3-10 days and tickets also changed. I do know that Moderates were included because I got a price for POR also (dont remember it now though). Didn't ask about deluxes. There is also a Planet Hollywood merchandise voucher, and 1 free meal per package (not per person).

Additionally we added an extra night to the original package and it added about $72 for just the extra resort night. Not a huge savings, but a small discount. (I am hoping for a room only code with a little more savings and I will get rid of that extra package night and add a room only night).

When I called the CM asked me to read my ad to her, because she said there were 4 different emails that had been sent out (mine said $433 per adult for all options above, and $172 per child ages 3-9). It sounded like all the deals got you to the same ending price, they were just all worded differently (marketing!). Interestingly, my invoice arrived yesterday and it has a 3 letter "code" beginning with Y listed next to my package. I am really anxious to see if this three letter code will match what is released next week.

It sounds VERY LIKELY that the OP had this PIN code attached to her name so they gave her the discount also. They just didn't tell her that is what they were doing. I know it took them a moment to find my PIN, and I also booked additional rooms for friends and was told to hold on. The CM checked her name to see if she had the same PIN--she had a PIN on her name, but it was an old offer-- I was allowed to book 3 Value rooms/2 packages with my PIN (my family of 4, hers of 5).

As clueless as it seems the booking CM's are when people call with codes and discounts etc... I really believe that Disney doesn't give them any information ahead of time. If you read these boards you can see that often the day a code is released the CM's are clueless about it.

I am truly guessing that the discount that will come out will be THE SAME, or VERY SIMILAR to this PIN. I think they will offer the free pass upgrades, and also the discounted packages. It seems like, in the recent past, they have been sending out the PIN discounts and then the next discount that comes out is the same. It appears the only real advantage there has been with the PIN is just "first dibs" at getting the hotels and "limited number of rooms" that can be booked with the package. I was able to get ASMo with no problems, which is often the first booked up when a general discount code is released.

We probably won't do the water parks either--but will do DQ one day. We also won't use all 7 days of the passes, but for 5 or 6 day passes the difference would have only been a savings of $2 per person! DUH! I went with the 7! We will add the no expiration. The way I see it I am investing $55 per person now and for a future trip I will have 2 days Park Hopping and 4 water park/DQ/PI options. I see at as paying $55 for a 2/4 pass in the future. Pretty good deal!

Lovetoscrap--
I'm glad some one out there seconds that I'm not making up my discount! I can't believe all the skeptical responses. I was waiting for someone to blatantly call me a liar. I thought I was doing a nice thing by sharing my good fortune and to encourage others to also go for it. I guess I'll keep my mouth shut next time around until the discounts are written in stone and let someone else get blasted for posting a future promotion instead. If it weren't for all the personal information on my online trip confirmation/itinerary, I'd have gladly pasted it in here to prove myself.

Hanover:
I think that people are just trying to get everything straight so they can take advantage of whatever is available. There are also situations where sometimes someone thinks they got a discount, but when they come on the boards they find out the CM made a HUGE mistake, and they get the short end of the stick. I know right after Free Dining ended/the last discount ended there were some threads of people that got packages and thought they were getting Free Dining because the CM didn't explain they were adding it AT COST. After announcing to the boards they got free dining and others calling and being told it wasn't available, the OP would call Disney back and find out that they were BEING CHARGED :earseek: . Better to straighten it out sooner than later!

I believe you-- no invoice required!-- but it truly sounds like there was a PIN attached to your name so when you called that came up and they gave you the discount without needing for YOU to tell them the PIN. Since the Mousesavers details are very similar to the PIN there was no reason not to think anything else. There was another thread on here just a few days ago saying that sometimes the PIN is in the computer there, but you never get a notice. That OP was saying that anytime you hear a PIN is going around, it is worth it to call and ask--the worst they will say is no. If the PIN attached to my friend's name was good she would have booked the same package without getting any notice of it. As it was I was able to use mine to cover her also.

Try not to take the things said here to personally. Forums like these can be difficult if you aren't thick skinned. As long as you are happy with what you got then just ignore everyone else. Stop reading your own thread if you need to!!!

Here's a :mickeybar to make you feel better! :grouphug:

I am on the phone now ith Dis dining & just asked about the chances of walk up @ WCC in Feb, she said they are trying to do away with walk-ups. I said so how is someone that doesnt know how Disney works supposed to eat anywhere good? She said that when you walk up the podium (sp?) attendent will call Dis dining & get you a ressie. She also said as of Feb. 1st CRT is to require 2 dining credits per person & you will have to give credit card for the ressie & the "hold" the full cost of the meal, used to be a "hold" of $10.00 per adult & $5.00 per child. (Of course if you are on the dining plan they do not charge you.)

I just made my panicked 180 day ADR's and spoke with an EXTREMEMLY nice and chatty CM. We were talking about the boards and how there are so many pages of rumor, speculation and outright guesses about this upcoming discount. Her comment was:

"DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH"

Hmmmmm, I really wonder what this means??? Sure sounds like she knows something and it isn't great.

But she also said they had no idea about the ADR being changed (or CRT price increase) until today so I am still back to my original theory that Disney tells them NOTHING until the day of.

Don't know if she was going on PAST experience, or knows something. . . .

Hanover, Thank You for posting!!! I certainly didn't mean to upset you, but as stated, we are all very anxious to get this deal, and find out what exactly the discount is. I got a little "testy" today on another thread, and like the op stated, sometimes, things get that way, without meaning too. I certainly apologize if I made you feel that way. We all just want to make sure we have everything exactly right, and with no one else hearing/getting the info you got, you can agree it sounded "odd". I certainly meant no harm, and I'm sure no one else did either. Again, I'm really glad you got it and if a room discount comes out, make sure you get that added, that's what we are all waiting for!!!!

lovetoscrap -- WOW -- I certainly hope that the PIN you got is the deal....... that would save us a lot of $$$ and perhaps we could upgrade or add a day!!!! :drinking1 Here's to hoping that this is the deal we get!!!!!

The cm shouldn't have booked it and they could get in big trouble for doing so.

Your AAA agent is incorrect. Disney doesn't allow combination of discounts. It is one or the other

This isn't completely true. Here's what I found with a search:
Actually they are not available at this time. They are experimenting with eliminating the express pass machines during non-peak time. The express pass machines have been covered up for the last two weeks. The good news as they haven't been needed as most rides are a walk on.

I got it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=912356

Just so no one gets confused/wrong info.
Hate to split hairs but, if you're interested in it, there's a more recent thread on the Universal Boards covering this topic. The controversy surrounding the "experiment" has been on-going. People are annoyed that they weren't advised as to the cessation of the EP before they entered the park (IMO, a valid complaint). Posters have indicated that they've waited a "long" time to ride...of course, "long" is a subjective term, at best! Personally, wouldn't consider that good news in any way, shape or form.

On the same thread, mention is made of WDW considering discontinuing FP...I doubt it since they've applied for a patent on a new system this year tied into how much money/what level of accommodation guests spend. No word whether they'll try this "experiment" either, or just whether they wanted to protect the system.

We loved FOTL (and had planned on using EP on next visit) @ Univeral & FP @ WDW, would absolutely hate to see them "tinker" with any of the plans currently in place. However, the magic is a business.

By now, I guess most of you have heard about the "drop" in BRP rates for 1/16/06-2/4/06. Apparently, it seems to be $60 off Moderate resorts and $96 off Deluxe resorts. So does this indicate that these rates will become public soon? According the the BRP, they get the lowest rate that becomes available to the public.

Keeping my fingers crossed that its part of the package deal, but I'll take a room-only rate like that, too.

Any thoughts...?

Not sure about Fantasmic yet. I hear mixed reviews about taking a toddler, and I'd hate to wait in line for an hour or do the dinner package and then have to leave 10 minutes into it 'cause she's freakin' out! :scared1: So I think we might just have to play that one by ear. We'll see how she does in HM or Pirates. pirate:
