My thoughts about the new promotion due next week

HL......

I'm so excited about the new BRP price........ I'm hoping we both get that deal!!! I wish the 3rd would hurry up and get here!! I think, not positive, but I think you are right when you say that BRP "matches" the lowest rate avail. to the public......... I"m hoping that's right anyway. If so, maybe they are taking care of lowering all the BRP / AP holders prices, before nov. 3, and all of us waiting start calling?? I don't know, I'm just hoping. That price of $109. for AKL is AMAZING!!!! I'm just hoping I can get it!!!!!

What happens though, if it is a room only discount??? Does that mean since I have a package booked, that I can't get it??? We have the MYW package, and if it isn't a "package" deal what does that mean for me???

I forgot your little one might not like fantasmic........... I have heard too that it can be a little scary for little one's. Last year, my DS was a little scared in the HM, but he loved Pirates.

Nevermind, I found it.

Hope you all hear about something fantastic! JMO, though... it really could be just as written. All of us November/December travelers held our breaths for a week about a "really special deal" and it turned out to be a change in base price, that saved a lot of us just around $100.

Lots of things go into these speculations.... I truly believe that Mary doesn't post mis-information. But from the time these teasers come out to the time the discount is released, Disney reserves a right to change whatever they want. We still aren't sure if the "special deal" got changed to something less special, or if we were just all being too hopeful (greedy? ).

All I mean to say is this: if you save $80-$100, great! Take it in stride .... that's a lot of Mickey bars :mickeybar or a few extra souvenirs! Just be prepared for any sort of deal, and don't be too bummed if it's less than spectacular!

That being said, here's hoping it IS spectacular for all of you traveling on the right dates! ;) :goodvibes

I get what you're saying, but in my opinion, comparing Nov/Dec with Jan/Feb is apples and oranges. The fall special included dates around Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (if I'm not mistaken) - some of Disney's busiest times. Jan/Feb are notoriously slower, and I would expect better savings. Maybe I'm being greedy, but we're going in the off season for a reason, and some good rates would be a nice incentive.

We'll see...all this speculation is killin' me! :earseek:

wendypooh,

$109 a night at AKL is a great rate and that's why it's so hard to decide.

They certainly are different, but those dates around holidays were blacked out of the last promotion. I just know how out of control our thread got (you all CERTAINLY are not out of control ;)) and don't want anyone to start planning trips based on the possibility of getting Deluxes for Value prices, free dining, free tickets, etc .... :)

Free tickets AND free dining! Awesome! I can hardly wait!

(I know it's hard to understand me with my tongue in my cheek like that, but... ;))

Joke all you want, but I truly believe some people were expecting just about that after the last ordeal! And maybe free hotel rooms too.... you pay your airfare, and the rest is on Disney!

tink2020,

It is kind of funny what some expect from Disney and I'm sure this time around won't be any different. I remember last time someone posting that they were never going back to WDW because the discount wasn't what they though it should be.

That is a very good price. Less than what I am paying for CSR. I am guessing that is figuring the rack rate of $205-96. Good deal.

We are also on the package deal with dining. I hope that a price like that will be availabe with a package.

Well, I just got off the phone with Disney. I decided to call & see if a PIN was attached to my name. It was. I was so excited I could hardly breathe! UNFORTUNATELY it was no big deal for me. More than what I already have booked thru AAA.

It was a package with dining & hoppers for 2a, 1c for 6 nights. The PIN gave us upgrades to hoppers & 4 days of water parks. I asked for quotes for CSR & AKL.

CSR: $2018.67 (I am paying $1935.71 thru AAA, standard room)
AKL: $2368.71 (parking view)

No great deal there, IMHO. I would basically be paying $82.96 more for the three of us to go to the water parks...in Feb! No thanks.

Just thought I would share.

:confused3 I don't see why the rates would be lowered through the BRP if they weren't coming out with something for everyone else...right?

I'm already booked...at AKL...through BR and was thrilled to see my price go down! I hope that means good news for the rest of you who are waiting!!! :sunny:

Jason.....

I know, it's a hard choice for you!!! You'll make the right choice though, you can't go wrong no matter where you stay. You'll be at Disney!!!

d4est -- that price of $109 was before tax, but even then, that's an awesome rate!!! I'm hoping too that the deal is a discount on the room and will be available for those of us with a package.

Tink2020, I get your point, some people want the moon and get "upset" when they don't get it. As for me, personally, IF a discount comes out, great, that'll be super, and I'm hoping for it. Why not! I also want to add, that we are booked with a MYW package, with hoppers and dining, and it's Paid for. So, regardless of a discount or not, we are still going, and it would only be "extra" for us. I think anyone would be happy to get a discount and if some of us get "excited" and talk about it, it doesn't necessarily mean we'll be bummed if it's less than "spectacular". IF it is as written, I'm already going to save $80.00, and yes, I'm happy about that!!! IF that is all it is, yes, I'm happy about that too!!!! It also says on mousesavers that there are rates being talked about that are discounted, and yes, while it does not state that is what is going to happen, it is a possibility. I think maybe that is where some of the "speculation" is coming from. I know Mary, and I know for a fact she doesn't post something if it hasn't been checked, and re-checked. YES, you are right, things can change, but I do know that her "contacts" are usually always right on, and she has it confirmed before she post it. I realize some threads get crazy and people speculate things to death, but I really don't think that's what is happening here. Just people excited and expressing it, that's part of the fun of planning!!! ;)

I hope everyone gets a good deal, we'll see what happens.

Any guess at what time the discount will be available? Do I need to be on the phone at 7am when they open or will it be later in the day? :confused3 :confused3

Yeah, that is kind of silly. However, I think we have a right to be somewhat insulted by a free park hopping and free water park promotion in January and February. Park hopping is only an additional $37, and as most have said - Who cares about water parks during those months, especially when only one is open?

I would be less insulted with no promotion as opposed to one that pokes fun at the $2,000 I'm spending there, with a "generous" offer from Disney to save me $37.

Oh, please don't misunderstand me! I wasn't saying it was a great deal (or much of a deal at all), and I wasn't saying that you all were asking for the moon. I really hope it's something awesome! And, as someone else mentioned, speculating is half the fun..... I should'nt have butted in, I guess.... I just didn't want to see irate DISers like ours turned out to be. It's not worth ruining your trip! Most of you are already going obviously, and I just didn't want something like this to frustrate anyone in your last few months of planning!!!

Somehow I missed this post! :rotfl2:

That's all I'm trying to avoid! Lol.... I know it's definitely NOT the majority, but some people get so touchy about what we should or should not get and I highly doubt it's worth giving up future Disney plans over it!

My, some of us are easily insulted.

I don't think so.

I don't think $2,000 is "easy" for anyone here. If it was, we wouldn't be so anxious about discounts.

Why bother quoting me if you're going to put words in my mouth? I never said that it was easy for anyone to pay $2000. I said that some of us are easily insulted.

If you find a smaller-than-hoped-for discount insulting, heaven help the person who is actually trying to insult you.
