My thoughts about the new promotion due next week

What the heck is going on? So not only did they quote you for a promotion that's not "on" yet, but they let you put it on hold as well? Did that require a deposit?

If I wasn't half way across the house from where the phone is and didn't have a sleeping baby in my arms, I'd call myself! This is ridiculous! All this anticipation and waiting, and you're telling me it's $80 per person off a $2500+ package.

I hope Hanover is just mistaken...no offense, but if Hanover is right, that REALLY sucks.

Anyone have time to call and get more info? I'm dying to know...please someone tell me some GOOD news!

The OP is mistaken. There is no way Disney would quote prices based on an upcoming promotion. Never happened.

And honestly, Disney would run no promotion as opposed to such a lousy one. That would be shameful of them to insult people with that type of promotion.

I so hope you are right. An $80 savings IS an insult, especially during value season and when people spend thousands of dollars on these packages.

I'm calling to make ADRs in a few minutes, so I think I'll ask while I've got them on the phone.

Let us know what they say!

If you have an exsisting package with Disney and you join AAA, will Disney take the room discount off the package? Or, does it all have to be seperate?

hello, new here. per my conversation with our travel agent the discount will be on a MYW package for stays 5 nights or longer. She recvd an email from her disney insider a couple days ago regarding this. all the hype about park hopper/water park addition seems a little off to me. I'm hoping my travel agent has correct information. If my speculation serves me correct it would be some sort of overall discount or free nights.

As someone said earlier...park hopper/water park in Jan would suck : )

There has to be, otherwise, it's just silly.

Incidentally, the rumored date (11/3) is also my 90 day mark for making ADR's. It will be a busy day!

Booking window for dining changed to 180 days out this morning! Call now!

HL and Boom,

Just got off the phone with a CM, and was told that she had "heard" about a discount coming out on the 3rd of Nov. from people who were calling, but she had NO official word yet. She said she didn't know anything about it, other than what callers were asking her. She said that if "I" knew to call back on the 3rd, then to go ahead and call back, but that she didn't know anything. She also said that they do not "hold" reservations prior to a discount coming out, as she said, she had NO idea of a discount coming out. She said she only just found out this morning about the ADR changes.

SO, not sure what the op was told, but that's what I just got.

I'm still hoping for a room discount on my package!!! HLAuburn, if you find out anything else let us know!!!! Also, are you cold today.......??? LOL I'm freezing!!!

Yea, I read that a little while ago & called. All ADR's are set! Thanks.

OK, here's what I found out. (Don't get excited, its not much).

I called about our existing room-only reservation and I told the CM that I was interested in adding a package and asked if she had any specials out for that time (playing dumb, at this point). She looked and said she had the MYW deal where you could add your tickets on (huh? that's a special?) and get some Planet Hollywood voucher. When I said I was looking for a special, like the "free dining" they had offered in the past, she said "we can add dining to your MYW package". :confused3 Anyway, basically she had nothing as far as discounts/special offers for that time, and when I asked if she knew of anything in the future, she said no. I asked if I should just call back every so often and check (yes, I was prying at this point), she said "you can". OMG, what is the deal with these CMs? Why do they make it so difficult? Throw me a bone, lady! ;)

So basically no new news, other than the fact that she didn't "quote" me on the "future" deal.

By the way, tomorrow is my 90 day mark for ADRs, but since the bumped it to 180 days, I called today and got everything I wanted at the exact times I asked for. (In case you're wondering, we aren't doing Cindy's, although with all the open times on all the places I called about, I think there might still be a chance to get it.)

Wendy-
Thanks for the info. That's a little more specific info that I got. And it sounds like pretty credible info. I'm sure that the CMs computers don't really show anything until its actually available to offer, so that makes sense.

The weather is beautiful! In the sun, its perfect! In the shade, its a little chilly, especially with the breeze. We just got in from outside chasing the dragonflies! Ahhh, the life of a 15 month old! No worries about Nov 3 specials, ADRs, flights from New Orleans... :rotfl:

Speaking of, did you hear SW added non-stop flights from New Orleans to Orlando!? Now I'm just hoping for a good DING fare.

Thanks again for the update!

Sorry for everyone that thinks I'm mistaken. I asked the CM about it, she went to check with her supervisor (I was on hold at least 5 minutes), confirmed it and even gave me a confirmation number that INCLUDES this promotion. The quote she gave me is the same as if I were buying tickets and not adding the hopper, etc. She specifically read back that it included that hopper promotion and I asked again to make sure. I have even seen it in writing using my confirmation # and my phone number on the website. The first CM I asked had no idea about the promotion and said that it was "news to him and thought there was no way possible that I could know something before he would know." I am waiting to see if AAA can get me the promotion (which would be cheaper, but not by much) before I go ahead and pay for it with Disney.

It's just strange that you are the ONLY person that has been able to get this "special" that hasn't even been released yet. Did the special have a code? Did you have to put down a deposit? After the first CM told you he knew nothing about it, did you hang up and call back to ask another person? So basically you are paying rack rate for the room, buying your base passes, and you get water parks and hopper options free? Sounds like a crappy "deal". I really hope there's a better offer that comes out.

By the way, does anyone know how accuate Mary's (mousesavers.com) predictions about upcoming specials have been? Her website indicates this IS the special that's going to be released (along w/ other discount possibly) and she even has specific booking dates (11/3 - 12/18). Sounds like pretty specific info, and she doesn't indicate that its speculation, but rather pretty definite. I just hope she's right about the room discounts!

I've been following MouseSavers since 2001 or before, and I have never known her to be wrong - maybe the timing has been off regarding release dates, but she is pretty good...

My guess is that she has friends in high places.

The first time I called, I got disconnected with the guy that was going to check. I called back immediately and got a different CM. She had no idea either, and went to check. I waited at least 5 minutes and she came back confirming it. I'm supposing that she got the pin or whatever and entered it. I can put a $200 deposit down in the next 10 days. She said I have until 11/28 to pay it off. As I said before though, I'm waiting to see if AAA can get me the promotion first because they are slightly cheaper and the Disney CM said they cannot use my AAA discount on the package, only the room. I was worried about having to pay a higher rate from AAA for the room to get this promotion, so I'm going to wait and see who will be cheaper in the end.

Even without any promotions or codes, AAA is always cheaper than booking rack.

I guess maybe I am confused as to what you are saying about booking thru disney or AAA. If you want a room only AAA discount, you CAN book that thru disney, but if you want a room AAA discount and a package, then you CAN get that discount, but have to book directly thru AAA.

I was told by the CM that AAA can discount the entire package with my AAA card, and that Disney can only discount the room price, not the package with my AAA card. I had no reason to not believe her, so I took it as fact. This is the first time after numerous WDW trips that I have used either AAA or have directly called Disney. AAA was always more for our Disney cruises than Dreams Unlimited, and I thought it would be the same for the MYW packages. I'm glad I called anyways. Previously, I always checked the Disney website and was never impressed by their quotes so I never bothered calling. After reading about the promotion on Mousesavers, I decided to call and see if it was true and if I could book it.

I just got off the phone with a CM who insisted there is absolutely no way possible they could hold or quote on a promotion that isn't out yet. It's not loaded into their computer until it's released.

He then said, I could book the AAA rate without the membership number. It comes out to saving me about $100, but then I'd have to spend $50 on a AAA membership, so $50 in savings isn't anything spectacular.

I guess I'm just fortunate that the CM I used booked it for me. I don't know how she did it, but she did. I've read my itinerary and the price on the Disney website and it exactly matches what she told me. I'm not sure if the supervisor was present and somehow overrode the price to include the promotion. I don't know. I should have the actual confirmation in a day or two on paper, as she said she was sending it out after our call on 10/26. AAA and DUT both said they couldn't confirm the promotion and to call after 11/3/05.
