My SSR Improvement Suggestion......

Honestly i can get burgers and fries anywhere else but i don't really need them at the AP. I could manage without them all at SSR. But the real problem is the dining plan. I spend more time in line because of that.

Restaurant -nothing [to] upscale, but a nice sit down place where you can get some good quality food- no burgers more like chicken, steak, meatloaf, stews etc. simple elegance. Then maybe one night a week they could do a formal night with dancing and piano playing. I like to think of SSR as the getaway like in Dirty Dancing, a property people would go to in NY for a few weeks to relax so they would have different night themes.

I don't think SSR needs another sit down restaurant. Turf Club is one of the best kept secrets around! LOVE that place, and we often go there multiple times a trip when we are staying at OKW.

Agreed! That's why we chose to have this year's Thanksgiving Dinner there!

I love everything about Saratoga Springs, but I do have to say that I am happy with the plan to do a new theme pool and Counter Service over at The Paddock. This will take some of the overcrowding away from Artist's Palette (which I love, but it is overrun at peak times), and help out the villas that are over that way to not feel so remote.

Wow obviously it is a best kept secret. I totally missed the boat on that one -- where was I when I was there.

Considering the posts I will put it on the list of places to hit up.

For us that do "stay" there, we love it as it is. No improvements necessary. :thumbsup2 They have addressed the only area I felt was needed another theme pool with snack bar.

What we love about SSR, is the quietness, the lack of clutter, the nonbusy feel to it, the SPA feel, the tranquility.

I would hate to see it changed into a mini Boardwalk. If they did I would be moving to the new DVC campground resort, :)

The ice cream parlor, I might could accept that.

WOW - Right ON!

For those of us that do "STAY" there, we look to get away from all of the items listed as improvements. The World is filled with that stuff. It is nice to have a place to get away from it all, and SSR offers that. Not everybody thinks that no night life and no bar with entertainment make for a place lacking in appeal. The appeal is that there is no late night Hub-Bub!

Remember that the stuff that is added (like an ice cream parlour and bowling lanes) would not be limited to SSR guests or even Disney guests. As an Epcot area fan, there are definately pluses to having childcare, a popular ice cream parlour, Jellyrolls, Big River Grille, very popular restuarants, Boardwalk entertainment etc, right there. But its a mixed blessing as it creates a LOT more central area traffic around three already big resorts. Both guest BW/Y&BC guest traffic and guests that aren't staying in that resort area. I'm not sure DTD foot traffic would be really appreciated - it doesn't seem to be now just with the parking cheaters and the "lets walk over" tourists.

I think the ice cream parlor and the one or two chair barbershop would be a good idea in the main area near the main pool, but all the other stuff will just turn it into a mini Boardwalk, which I htink wouldn't be so hot.

I think thye need a quiet pool in the Carousel section. We just got back from 6 nights there and it was a schlep to the pool in the Paddocks. Other than that, it was quiet lovely.:)
