My day was Productive Personified!

I have one of the bedrooms in our house that used to be my 'paint room' or paint office as my son calls it. I do tole painting but not for a while now and the room was set up mostly with paint things. Over the past two years I've tried to fit the scrap stuff in and had a decent setup near the work table but otherwise the room was mishmash. Plus since we moved in 3 1/2 years ago I never got into the closet in there (tubs in front of it etc etc etc).

The room had become the crap room as well as it's always closed so things find their way in there.

So I get up today and sit down to work on swaps and I decide at that moment I can't take it anymore and I'll just get the tubs away to get into the closet. Five hours later there were 15 bags of garbage, 2 bags of clothes for goodwill, a closet that has the paint items now neatly boxed up (with nothing blocking the door) and half of the shelving units (I have about 5 of those 5 shelf plastic 5 foot high ones) organized.

Went to DS's baseball game and picked up two of those cheap shelf things from lowe's and came right home and put them together and completely reorganized my setup so now I have everything I use regularly all together and the rest neatly on the shelves!!!

Except for the very tall paper rack collapsing and having to get DH to fix it (I put the shelves together myself at least!) I am so amazed at how much I got done and how smoothly it went and how great that room is now! It's not quite complete as there are some shelves to go through and one corner pile of tubs but 90% done and my workspace area is perfect!

The work table and area....I had to crop out pics of the kid - I'm neurotic that way.

My scrapbooks - their current location - note the busting out of the seams one I just finished from last April's Disney trip....:)

Didn't take pics of the unorganized ones I didn't get to yet!

I am so proud of myself so I had to share. Those of you posting pics of lovely spaces inspired me I must say!

I must have worked harder than I thought cause I ache all over too!

:cheer2: Yeah Maria!!!!:cheer2:

I am so much happier and productive since I got myself organized. I have saved money too since I can see what I actually have. The trick for me is staying organized.

Hi. I am also trying to convert DD's old bedroom into my scraproom. I am trying to make it realy a girly girl feeling.eg- frilly, and in pimks. I hope that my deadline of mothers day will finally get me to get it done. I do have before pictures but I will also take the done ones soon.

looks great!!! Don't tell DH but I am planning on packing about 90% of his stuff in the dining room this week.

I'm taking over! LOL

Wow- amazing! Great job! :thumbsup2 It feels so good to get organized, doesn't it?!!?!

Wow real nice job! Gives me inspiration for my scrap room! We've finished the laminate so now it's just an empty room. I'd bought these nice cabinets from pottery barn outlet but have decided to put those in the main basement area instead of inside the scrap room so need some furniture and storage space. Am using the small kitchen cabinets that are in the basement to store things right now..not so pretty but functional enough. Would love to have those 12x12 paper holders that you have...where did you get them?

Did you do the laminate yourself? If you did how was doing it? My DH wants to do it but I keep chickening out;)

We had such an interesting time with the laminate...at first we had someone else put it in but he didn't like the quality of it and it would chip at the edges because I don't think he was gentle enough. So we had some help from a dear friend from church who helped DH (who is not handy at all!) finish it. Well, then we had a real builder come to install the baseboard/moulding and he just was not happy with how it was done so he redid alot of the side pieces as there was too much gap between the laminate and the edge. All in all if we do it again I'd just get the builder to do it. And also I wouldn't buy IKEA laminate - it was cheap and you have to put the underlay on under the laminate. If you buy from costco or sams the underlay is built into the laminate and it seems more sturdy and easier to put in. I guess we are real novices when it comes to laminate. We've had quite a few friends put it in themselves but I don't think we will do it again.

The paper holder is from acmoore -my sister got it for me for christmas with a 40% off coupon. I managed to collapse the whole thing Sunday when moving it around but otherwise it has been great. I can find what I'm looking for so easily and there isn't paper all over the room!

thanks for the pics. i love to see people's scrap spaces. mine is horrible. i have a corner of the basement. someday i hope to straighten it out but for now it works.
