I received an email from membercare@globalemailcompany.com telling me my My Points account as been disabled due to some confusion over my recent redemption request. It states the redemption request was cancelled and the points returned to my account. They are requesting I fax them a State or Federal ID with my name,photo, DOB showing, all other identifying info can be blacked out.
Has anyone else had such a request made of them? Why would they be asking for this information?
I hesitate to send this information because, although my My Points account has indeed been disabled, the email does not come directly from My Points. They did, however, provide a My Points email address: mops @ mypoints.com to write if there are any questions.
I have just recovered my hard drive after a major virus. (Thank god my daughter's BF is a computer science major. I hate to think how much money it would have cost me to get this repaired if not for his talents!) So, you can see why I may hesitate to forward such personal information via the fax to a possibly unknown source.
Any insight you can provide would be greatly apprecaited.
