My Name is Chris and I am a Fort Wilderness Addict..Updated 12/16

No PA hunter is a Chevy guy. I know since I busted his chops about it when bought the truck. Peg110 is the Ford guy from that region of PA.

President's Day !!! A day off is not quite the same when you are laid off for the winter. Waiting on some more snow to head this way, hoping the ice/freezing rain is not too bad. But we are pretty much ready to go. Need to top off the truck, can wait and do that Wednesday, grab those last minute groceries and then will hook up and be ready to leave Thursday night/Friday Morning. Plan is to be on the road at 2am. This way should have no issues around Charlotte, should be down there early enough people should still be at work. Truck really needs a bath, but not happening in these temperatures. DSCN2980.JPG
Such a dirty girl.

Trailer moved into it's ready to leave position.

So up early this morning, and up earlier tomorrow as I work toward being ready to leave at 2am on Friday. This way the next couple nights I will be in bed earlier and so that 2am is not such a shock.
The wind is howling, we had about 3 inches of snow on the ground, then ice and sleet. Rain in the forecast today with a high near 50. The fog is already forming, as it is getting lighter out there. Weather looks good for our departure and trip down to Florida. :moped: This time next week, we will be up had breakfast and getting ready to make rope drop at DHS. :chewy:

Well the fog cleared as the snow melted, the rain has just about stopped and it's 47 degrees outside. Unfortunately, it is not going to last. Well after all it is February, not as cold as last weekend but back around freezing for the next few days. Got some more stuff loaded up that doesn't mind the cold. Think all that is left to load late Thursday is temperature sensitive items, and most of that will go in the backseat of the truck for the first day. Mother Nature did a beautiful job on washing the road salt and dirt off the truck, so we are now all pretty and almost ready to travel, just need to top off fuel. Yea, getting closer and closer.

When people ask what I drive, I tell them a Duramax, this way they don't think I own a gas guzzler.

just curious...is the free thing for real? and if so, is it so dang crowded that one wishes he/she/the family had just stayed at the campground?

There is no Feb 30th or 31st, so no it is not real.

So this is it, today we do all our final loading and then after an evening sleep session it will be time to Roll Out !! Looking to be on the road at 2am, and headed for warmer weather. Hooked up yesterday, all that is left is to hook the weight distribution bars and plug in the trailer wire. Checked air pressure, all good.
We got a dusting of snow overnight but that is it. Trailer is plugged in with the fridge on cooling. So hope to get some pictures up Sunday night if all is good and I can tear myself away from the Disneyland 60th tv broadcast. Will be shooting to update nightly during our trip, with the exception of Weds, when we close the park down at midnight. Then of course after I will have to sort and post pictures once I get a minute or two.

So jealous... but I guess my day will come soon enough. Hope you have an awesome (and safe) trip.

Chris the weather has been awesome the past few days. High 70s and low 80s. Today we expect NE winds around 15mph and a high of 75 and clear!!! So I may not be wearing shorts, but I sure as heck won't need a coat!

Safe travels, PaHunter. We wish you a magical time. Looking forward to your TR.

Thank you all for the well wishes. Time to go dark for now. Dinner and a nap and it will be time to roll. MIL coming to take care of the dogs. Will check in first chance I get. Have a good night all.
