As above; have waitlisted Poly Tower Ressy for 1BR Suite, checkin 9/6. Already have a confirmed ressy at PVH suite, but would like to upgrade to Tower. Hold my breath or not?

It seems to me that most rooms revert back to the hotel side as breakage and they will try to rent them as cash if they are within 30 days. Not all, but most.

How long is your reservation for? If it is one or two nights, maybe. Anything over that I would say not a chance. That’s just from my experience, so I could be wrong.
I agree chances are not likely, especially inside the 30 day window, but don’t give up hope! We’ve had a waitlist come through at 17 days out so you never know.

Don’t give up the waitlist. There is always the chance you could get really lucky. I’ve read of it happening. It’s just never happened for me.
My experience is that most “last minute” waitlist fulfillment happens around 30 days out. It seems people try to cancel before the holding restrictions kick in. Other posters have mentioned this, and it’s true. I have gotten the occasional one night waitlist after that point but rarely. I’ve never experienced more than a two night reservation waitlist coming through after 30 days. Right now for example I have a waitlist in for three nights that same second week of September, trying to upgrade from a one to two bedroom. One of our kids (college student) decided to jump onto our reservation two weeks ago. We seem to find ourselves in this situation a lot. We will fit into a one bedroom but we prefer more room! I’m not sure why I even put in the waitlist because I know it won’t happen. But hope never dies.
Waitlist expired, but found a reservation at the Towers on DVC website and reserved it. Just returned last Thursday, not happy with the Towers at all; #1) "preferred" view overlooked the parking lot and ongoing road construction on the other side of the Grand Floridian Way, with loud, unpleasant "chirping" sounds from the heavy duty equip when they were backing up, #2) Keurig coffeemaker which took a degree to turn on for us mature members, #3) no ceiliing fans in any of the rooms (1 Bedroom suite), #4) no vent fans in either water closet, and worst of all #5) loud toilets flushing noise from all neighboring rooms, all night long, above and below and both sides of our room. #5 complaint is nothing new for Disney. I'm sure if I thought about it, I'd remember more issues wrong with the new addition. I warn potential buyers to beware. In defense, we've stayed numerous time at the old resort with good experiences. And as always, the castmembers' service was par excellence.
Last gripe, no Tanqueray Gin at any Disney/DVC Resort/restaurants, though we found it at the the Boathouse restaurant (which is not a Disney owned property, I think).
I’m sad to report that ceiling fans are being removed from older resorts as they undergo hard goods refurbs. I’m sure it’s because they’re difficult to keep clean. So I’m not surprised there aren’t any in the Tower.
