I lost my dad to colon/liver cancer 12 years ago.

He had a lot of pain for well over a year before he went in to have it checked. If he had gone in sooner he might have survived.

Today we are waiting for the hospice nurse to arrive to update us on my moms condition. (My mom lives with us) Last Monday she told us she didnt think she would last another few weeks. She has end stage Parkinsons Disease and has developed fluid in her lungs due to other factors.

This must be 100 times harder on you because my relationship with my mom has not been a good one over the years. I feel so bad for you.

I know I will be writing something similiar to this in the near future. It feels very weird and surrealistic and I do not know exactly how to feel or what to think right now. Please feel free to let me know if there is anything I can do, as I am in the same place as you are.

Again...... to you and I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I posted the same exact words when I lost my Mom to cancer a year and a half ago. I remember being just as numb as you are.

God bless you and your Dad through the next few days. Take solace in the fact that you both had time to say goodbye. Not everyone gets that chance.

And remember, you can always come here for an ear or a shoulder. Believe me, it saved me.

The reminder about colorectal cancer was so right. My aunt caught hers right on time and she's cancer free today. The procedures are uncomfortable but nothing compared to not checking.
