My mama really needs a job - p and pd please?

I feel kind of bad even asking for this, since it's not health related and I know she's not the only one in this situation right now. But, could all of you please send some prayers and pixie dust her way? She keeps going on interviews and ending up losing the job to someone younger. Just yesterday, she went on an interview that seemed like it went pretty well, and then this morning, she got a letter in the mail saying they gave the job to someone else What really worries me is that she's been getting really depressed . I know what that feels like, and I don't want my mom to feel that way . To make matters worse, she's also in a lot of pain, she needs to have a few teeth pulled. She couldn't afford the down payment of $200 that her insurance requires, so my aunt finally volunteered to loan her the money. Now, the dental surgeon has been making her wait to get them pulled for the last two weeks , and he didn't even give her any pain meds, nothing over the counter seems to work anymore. I've been doing everything I can to try and help her out, but I don't make a whole lot of money, and I can't give her what she really needs - a job. She's really been having a tough time, she cries a lot I don't know where else to turn, I just wish there was more I could do for her

It seems like the job market is more competitive than the Olympic tryouts anymore...

sure, it's frustrating and depressing..but keep your Mom trying...something will come along...

I know for a fact that not all jobs go to the younger applicants....a lot of employers look VERY favorably towards applicants of an age I guess is your Mom's...

they feel that beside the experience..this age group comes in with great work ethics....good attendance....and inherent responsibilities that makes for many "win-win's" in hiring...

in the meantime...i will say soe prayers for you & your Mom...for finding a job for her...and for her ailments...

keep positive thoughts...i know I will...and best wishes...

btw....what kind of skills does she have?...or what kind of job is she seeking?...I know a few people in Lehigh Valley....who knows?...maybe I can drop a word or 2...

She's hoping for secretarial work, but right now, I think she'd take just about anything. She spent several years doing customer service, she worked as a tutor at the Community College, and she spent 20+ years doing factory work. Even if you don't know anyone that can offer the kinds of jobs she'd be qualified for, I greatly appreciate the offer Thank you

I'll keep your mom in my thoughts. I know how she's feeling as I'm going through the same situation right now. I also applied for a job, got a phone interview and the VERY NEXT DAY got a letter saying they were going to persue other applicants. What's worse is I've sent out countless resume`s with no response what so ever. And I'm one year out of college, 24 years old (with work experience, with awards from jobs I've had, and graduating w/ honors), so if you want to let your mom know it's not her, and it's not because she's not young anymore... it's just tough everywhere. Seems as if we live in the same area also. I wish you both goodluck.

Between yesterday & today....i made contact with those in your area that I know...

Unfortunately, none could lead me to a job opening for your Mom at this time...

I did extract a promise from each that they will let me know if they hear of any....

MY mom is in the EXACT same position and it just plain SUCKS! It makes me so mad to see this...it's been months. She can barely pay her mortgage. She cries all the time!
