My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Quick post tonight. Kids have a swim meet this weekend and I have the before mentioned company party tomorrow night, so I don't know when I will be Sunday night before I can get back on line. I got a 55 minute walk in this afternoon! :cool1: :cool1: . Did so-so with food. I couldn't get warm this morning until I'd had 2 mugs of hot cocoa. At least I made it with skim milk. Forgot to put the crockpot stuff in until too late for dinner and forgot my afternoon snack when I went to the pool for swim practice. :sad2: DH wanted to bring home ribs for dinner :sad2: .

b- 1/2 grapefruit, whole wheat toast w/ 1t PB & apple butter, 16oz hot cocoa w/ skim milk
l- 1/2 turkey sandwich on wholewheat, 7 grape tomatoes
s -none
d- 3 babyback ribs, 2c Caesar Salad (at least I could limit how much dressing was on it), 1 bread stick
3 f/v
Totals - I'll do this later when I can look up the ribs
96oz water
55 minute walk w/ stroller

Amy- Bunco nights are definitely a diet nightmare. Next month I am hosting, so I can have some healthy things. :)

Hey Anna~
Sorry I haven't checked in in a while. I've been reading, just not responding...I'm a schmuck!
You are an incredible woman!!! I don't know how you get everything done that you do!! Your kids are very lucky to have you!
Is there anyway, with the help of your DH, that you can squeeze in an hour a day for you? Maybe first thing in the morning? Even if it's just doing a quick 15 min workout...sit-ups/pushups/leg lifts?

As far as the 70's party....I'm thinking some plaid bell bottoms...fringed shirt and a vest of some sort. Do you have a GoodWill close by? If not, just wear what your comfortable in...and have a good time!!!

Have fun Anna, you deserve it!!! And for goodness sake...SLOW DOWN!!
marie

Hi Anna
Have fun at the 70's night :)
70's dude - :hippie:
Anything floaty & bright coloured should do :)
Way to go on getting another walk in

Hi Anna,

Hope you have fun at the 70s night party!:hippie:

One of the FIRM workouts I did this morning is called Total Sculpt + Abs. There are three short aerobic segments and the rest is weight training... You will need some light weights and a step for the workout.... Maybe you can rent a few FIRM/ WATP videos from the library and see if you will like them before you buy them....

Have a great weekend!:thumbsup2

I don't think your food was as bad as you think. Have you tried SF Chai Latte instead of hot chocolate? That way the only calories you are drinking are the milk...

Have a "groovy" time tonight!

Anna, hope your 70's night goes well. I hate themed parties! I think your food looks pretty good. And your exercise minutes are really adding up! Yes, Walk Away the Pounds is great for those of us with two left feet! Give it a try, you can really crank up the intensity if you desire. I like it because the ppl on the video look like normal ppl. who don't spend all their time at the **** job clinic and they gym! And I agree that Bunko sounded like a real diet disaster. So you survived that one very nicely. Keep it up, we're getting there!

Hi Anna,

Sorry I wasn't here earlier in the weekend, I actually lived through the 70's, I probably still have some stuff in my closet:lmao:

Hope the party was fun anyway, what did you end up wearing??

Keep up the good work, I know how hard it is to be busy with the kids and still try to find time to workout, etc.

Have a good week!

I did not do well this weekend.:sad1: No exercise (unless freezing my tookus counts!) Saturday it was freezing - literally! It was 31 when we arrived at the pool for DD's swim meet at 7:15 and didn't get into the 40's until after 11a. The water was warm and the kids had lots of dry clothes/towels, etc. and hand warmers. But the parents were definitely COLD. Sunday it was 27 degrees when we arrived! The grass was frozen. The puddles were frozen. The drinking fountain was frozen. Even the water on the pool deck was frozen. It was sunny though and it warmed up faster (or at least it didn't feel so cold). Even so, when I went back to the car around 1pm there were still icicles hanging from the park bench in the shade. On the good side, DD's had a great swim meet. DD11 did not DQ (disqualify) on any of her events and bettered her times in both backstroke and freestyle. DD12 got "B" times (good!) in 4 of her 7 events. Took 4th on the 50 yard backstroke. (First time she has actually placed at a meet):cheer2: At the meet itself I ate the snacks I had brought, but I also drank several bucketfuls of hot chocolate (anything warm!). After the meet, we always go to Applebee's. On Saturday I split a chicken Quesadilla with DD11. I did not have even one bite of her triple chocolate meltdown however. :) On Sunday, I had a half size pecan crusted chicken salad with dressing on the side. I also had 1/2 of DH's strawberry mango margarita and more than a few bites of DD12's sizzling apple pie a la mode. :sad1:

DH's company party was fun, but I definitely ate and drank too much. :sad2: I got home from the swim meet at 4:37p and need a shower (to warm up!). We needed to leave the house at 5:20p, so I ended up going the "timeless" little black dress route. I wasn't the only one that chose that option.:rotfl2: Others had lots of tie dye, a couple of go go dancers and two "vegas" Elvis'! :rotfl2:

Today was the first time in +2 weeks that we could sleep in - so we did. I don't really remember everything I've eaten - spent too much time surfing the cruise board forum and grazed a lot on tortilla chips...:sad2: I did make Amy's "cupcake" meat loaves for dinner tonight and they were a big hit. Definitely keeping that in the rotation.:thumbsup2

Tomorrow is a new day. I will start over (again - sigh!). DD3 is finally healthy and she can go to school - I have no excuse for not exercising (except it is still dang cold!) Exercise I MUST!!!

Thanks everyone for the exercise video tips. I'm going to the library tomorrow to see what they have. Then I can buy the ones I like.

Hi Anna,

Sounds like a great weekend despite the weather!:goodvibes Congrats go out to both of your DDs!:yay:

The cupcake meatloaf sounds good.... I must have missed the recipe. Can you tell me more?

Hope you have a great week!:cheer2:

Hi Anna
Glad you enjoyed the party, you cant go wrong with the little black dress :)
I'm not making the gym either, your making me feel guilty cos you sound more motivated than me to try & get there!!!
Have a great week
Tracey

Ah, the dreaded social weekends... But you can get back on track, no worries! Remember, you are in this for life, and there will always be parties and other healthy eating curveballs thrown at you, you just have to do your best then move on!!!

Get that exercise in, even if it is jumping jacks in your bedroom. If all my co-workers wouldn't give me a hard time, I'd be doing some right now to warm up!!!

Ate mostly ok yesterday and drank enough water, but I just cannot get motivated to exercise.:sad2: It is cold, and I'm tired of it. Every morning it is in the mid 30's. I know if I got up and started moving around I would be warmer, but that hasn't been enough to get me going. I did go to the library yesterday, but they only had Kathy Smith "aerobic" type tapes and no exercise DVD's at all. :sad2: The only positive side to the cold is I'm not weighing myself every morning (and night :rolleyes1 ) It is too cold to strip down for the scale. :rotfl2: WI monday morning was 165.0 (.5 lb loss, or maybe just scale variation :confused3 ). I haven't been on the scale since.

Today is crazy wednesday. I've got a crockpot dinner going, so that should help a little.

Yesterday's info:
8:15a - whole wheat toast w/ 1T PB, .5T marmalade, clementine orange, 12 oz skim milk
12:10 - granola bar
1:00 - 1/2 whole wheat turkey sandwich , 1/2 avacado
3p - FF pudding cup (had a major sweet craving)
7p - honey mustard chicken breast, 2/4c brown rice, salad w/ tomato & avacado & 1T cilantro dressing, 12 oz skim milk
8:45p - sugar cookie :sad2: DH and the kids made them. I don't know why I ate it. :sad2:
Totals: Cal: 1649, Fat: 55g, Carbs: 181g, Fiber: 18g, Protein: 117g
3 f/v
96 oz water (burned my tongue on my hot water  )

Tracy- Amy's meatloaf recipe is in her journal. Key is baking them in a muffin tin so it cooks a lot faster. Very tasty too :)

Tracey - no, I'm definitely not motivated to exercise :sad2: I am starting to understand better how/when/why my weight has gone up in the past. At least this year I'm not pigging out on comfort food while I do nothing.

Amy - Thanks for the pep talk and reminding me to focus on the long term. :)

Hi, Anna! Yesterday's food looks great and delicious! I definitely hear you on the "it's too cold to exercise" thing. I hope you find something you love to do, though. Last year I was so motivated when I did the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds tapes. No change of clothes required. You'll be more comfortable in sneakers, though!
WISHing you a great evening, Anna!

Hi Anna, I know you can get the Walk Away the Pounds DVD's at Target or Wal Mart for under $10. I am with you, I like to rent first from the library to check out before I buy. I have a whole stack of useless workout DVD's I did once and never again. But WATP is pretty good. I think Julie (goldcup mom) uses them too. I think we are all ready for spring! I hope my sucky cold weather leaves you alone very soon. Glad dd3 is healthy, nothing like getting all the kiddos out of the house to make you briefly get your life back! Its hard to be on track I know but I think you are doing very well. Better to get your food and water in check than only your exercise is my new motto! Just hang in there and I hope you get a warm up very soon!

Hi Anna,

I have a friend that uses Netflix to preview workout DVDs.... If you have a subscription, you may want to give that a try.

Hope you have a great Thursday!:goodvibes

Hi Anna
Isnt it wierd how we all feel the same, even though we're from different places!!!
Must be the time of year!!
I'm sure we'll all be more motivated when the weather improves :)
How did you manage to burn your tongue!!!:)

Hi Anna,

I spent the morning skimming your journal...your such an inspiration!!:thumbsup2 I, right now, should be exercising but it is -3 degrees out and I haven't warmed up from bringing the children to school yet!!!

My dh has a company event on Feb. 3rd and I will most likely go the "little black dress" route, too except my "little" black dress isn't "little"...lol

Have a great Thursday!

E.:sunny:

I didn't eat enough yesterday, but I really wasn't hungry (just :cold: ) Still no exercise :sad2: . But I did get a lot of Christmas put away and most of the laundry done. Hopefully, I'll finish Christmas stuff tonight - I'm tired of it. I was reading on Bob Greene's website that Oprah's diet is about 1700 calories with 30% fat, 20% protein, and 50% carbs. He is also a strong advocate of exercise to raise metabolism and burn calories/fat. I was surprised at the calories and also the mix of fat/carbs/protein. Interesting.

Food:
b- 1c Cheerios, 12 oz skim milk
s- apple, LF LC wedge
l - leftover acorn squash (1/3 cup) and 2 cupcake meatloafs :)
s- 5 grape tomatoes
d - 1c LF split pea soup, 1/2 ham sandwich on wholewheat, 12 oz skim milk
Totals: Cal: 1097, Fat: 21 g, Carbs: 152g, Fiber: 19g, Protein: 74g
64 oz water
4 f/v

E - wow, I've never been an inspiration for anyone before - Thanks. :) I was doing really well when I started, but have been in basically the same place for the past 6 months. At least I haven't gained anything in that time :confused3 . As for the little black dress, I have them in 4 sizes:rotfl2: . I didn't wear the largest (note to self - get rid of the largest black dress!), but did wear the next one down.

Tracey - I was thinking the same thing about a lot of us having the winter "blahs". Now I need to find some of marie's or AmyM's motivation. :scratchin:

Tracy - we gave our netflix up because we just weren't watching enough movies. I did by a WATP's DVD at Target this morning though. I'm going to try that. :cool1:

Amy - I found a WATP's DVD at Target this morning :cool1: I have decided that I do need to focus on the food and water though. I know I need to exercise to lose weight, but I am feeling overwhelmed. When I started this journey I took each piece one at a time. When I felt I had that under control, I went on to the next piece. I need to do that again, I think to get back on track.

Cam - Everyone seems to like the WATP's so that is what I'm going to try too. :cool1: Hopefully, even clumsy me will be able to do it. :rotfl:

Is it still cold out your way? Wow! What is the average temperature for this time of year? I hope it warms up soon!:goodvibes

Let us know how you like the WATP DVD... I've never done one before, but I like to vary my workouts so maybe I'll give it a try.

Have a great Friday!:goodvibes

I think you are right on with the fixing one thing at a time plan. It's much easier to do and a lot less stressful! You got in that 'happy place' once before, you can get there again. When I was in that REALLY bad place over the holidays, it took a couple days of literally forcing myself to work out to finally snap out of it. Then I realized that I liked the way eating right and working out made me feel, so it was no longer a chore to behave. THere are still challenges (like when I ate that piece of cheesecake at work today :rolleyes1 ) but we just move on. Hang in there!
