My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Hi Anna
Glad you had a nice relaxing christmas :)
Sounds like you will get plenty of exercise this weekend at your parents!
Have a great new year :)

Wow, and I thought I had it made when I didn't get out of my Christmas jammies until 3pm!

It's been so long since I have been skiing! I wanna go!!!!!

Enjoy your visit and worry about the food and exercise after the 1st. That's what the rest of us seem to be doing! :rolleyes:

Anna, Happy New Year, and looking forward to encouraging each other in 2007!!!

Your Christmas sounded positively wonderful! Our Christmas week is full of running around, so the very thought of being able to wear my jammies all day is dream-like!! I hope you enjoyed the rest of the week and have a wonderful New Year's celebration!! Here's to a healthy and happy 2007! :goodvibes

Thank you all for your wonderful words when I have been so negligent psoting here and other journals. :) . The support I get from my WISH buddies really is so precious to me. I really do appreciate it. :grouphug:

The actual meals that I have eaten this past week have been pretty good, but I feel like I have been grazing nonstop for the past week. I just cut up a pear for DD3 and took a piece of almond roca for myself :sad2: . I know I need to get it together. :sad2: As I said in AmyM's journal, I think I need to go back to keeping a detailed food journal. It seems if I know I have to post everything I eat for the whole world to see, I can keep better control. Pathetic, I know, but I just don't seem to have the willpower when I'm only accountable to myself. Same goes for the exercise challenges.

I have really enjoyed having wonderful family time, but I do need to make eating a better priority, as well as time for exercise. I am still in my jammies (and it is after noon! :) ) This afternoon I need to go and get DD12 new snow boots (she has outgrown hers again!) and may get myself some new running shoes, as well. I also need to get some various sundries before we head to the mountains tomorrow morning to ski. Then I would like to take a walk around the lake (2 miles exactly) before it gets dark. I think that might be a good way to end the year. I usually love to spend New years Day watching the Rose Parade and then all the bowl games, but there is a nice break in the storm weather and we should be able to get in a few days of nice skiing in (assuming TOM doesn't show up - grrr!) Unless my dad brings his laptop, I'll be offline next week.

So to all of my wonderful WISH buddies, here is a toast to a Happy and Healthy, and LIGHTER 2007! :party:

Usually we spend Christmas running around too. Last year I was so burned out I didn't even enjoy the season. I was determined to not do that again. We have really enjoyed this much more casual year (I don't think DH's family would agree, but tough ...- I can't think of a good word that won't get censored!:rotfl2: ).

Skiing should be interesting. I used to ski every weekend when I was growing up, but haven't actually been since before DD12 was born. DD12 & 11 learned to ski last year and loved it! My parents took them the week before Christmas and then I took them up during the two week spring break. I had DD3 with me then though. Turns out DD3 really doesn't like the snow - literally dragged her by her snowsuit up the hill at one point to the cabin. Three kids and just me at the cabin during a raging blizzard is not something I want to repeat anytime soon. (but I did get a lot of good exercise shovelling the +5 feet of snow that fell in 3 days! :rotfl2: ) It was after that very memorable spring break trip that I made a commitment to WISH. This time Mom is staying home with DD3 and my dad and I are taking the big girls up. I have to admit, I am more than a little nervous about going out. I am so out of shape and as our governor just proved, 40 somethings don't generally "bounce" as well as 20 somethings! (He's actually 59, but still!) Hopefully when next I am online I will still be in one piece!

Have a Great, SAFE New Year Anna!!
We'll "talk" to you next year!!! :laughing:

Be careful skiing!!
marie

I think you will do fine on the slopes, it's like riding a bike! Of course your quads will be screaming the day after you go... It'll be worth the burn!!!

Have a wonderful time and Happy New Year!:cool1:

Happy, Healthy New Year, Anna!

Your Christmas & Ski trip sound AWESOME!!

Enjoy and be safe!!

Hey Anna!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Thanks so much for the support you've shown me this past year! I wouldn't have made it through without you and my WISH buddies!

Here's to another great year! :thumbsup2

Happy New Year, Anna!

I hope it is a year filled with abundant blessings for you and your family!:grouphug:

Thank you so much for your kindness, encouragement, support, and friendship over the past year. I appreciate you, WISH Sis!:grouphug:

Have a great trip!:goodvibes

Happy New Year Anna, hope you are having fun skiing! "See" you when you get back!

Hi Anna
hope you had a great new year :)
The skiing sounds fun :)

I'm back and still in one piece!:banana: We had a great three days in the mountains. Monday afternoon I got the kids geared up and let them ski for the afternoon Tuesday I could have skiied by myself (kids were in an all day lesson), but chickened out. Instead I had the entire day all to myself. First I strapped on the snow shoes again and moved wood from the back woodpile to the porch (wanted to get in some good exercise :) ) Then I took a shower, read a book, watched a DVD:cloud9: . I did ski with the kids on Wednesday all day and it was GREAT! You're right Amy. It is like riding a bike, and it all came back to me! Now I wish I had skiied on Tuesday too. We came back down to my parents Wednesday night as they are expecting 20" of new snow today and I didn't want to deal with that.

I actually did really well eating wise at the cabin, sticking with apples for snacks instead of cookies most of the time and drinking hot lemon water instead of hot chocolate most of the time too. Now that we are back at my parents it is harder, but I am trying. As part of getting back on track, I need to journal everything and posting it for the world to see. Clearly I have a candy problem right now :sad2:
b - two pieces toast w/ whipped honey, apple, 4 oz skim milk, 1 homemade malt ball thing
s - pear, 2 little carmel chocolate things
l - slice pork loin w/ cranberry sauce, baby carrots, 1/3c rice pilaf, 3 almond roca
s - handful mixed nuts, 1 almond roca, apple
ETA: d - 6(?) mixed nuts w/ bottle of hard cider before dinner, then spaghetti casserole thing (reasonably healthy w/ lots of veg), brocolli, 2 glasses red wine
dessert was small scoop vanilla ice cream & 2 pieces of See's chocolate :sad2:

Exercise for the year:
Jan 1 - 2 trips from truck to cabin in snow shoes with food, duffle bags, etc (Cabin is up a steep hill above the road) - 30 minutes
Jan 2 - 2 round trips (without the bags etc :) ) - 30 minutes, hauled wood in snow shoes - 30 minutes = 60 minutes
Jan 3 - 2 trips cabin to truck with duffles, etc. - 30 minutes, skiied for +4 hours! - counting this as two hours by the time I take out lift time, etc. = 150 minutes
So 240 minutes for the month:banana:

When I finish here, I am going to sign up for the January Challenge. Apparently, I need that too to actually stay accountable. I'm thinking 800 minutes? Not a lot, but I have done practically nothing for the last couple of months.

I'm going to try and get to journals later this evening... Thanks everyone for the New Years Wishes. :)
Anna

I wasn't going to do resolutions, but I have been inspired by all of my wonderful WISH buddies, so here goes:

1.My goal is to hit my target weight by July 1 and be in solid "maintainance" mode by the end of 2007. My target weight for now is 145. I'll see how I feel when I get there and may go for 135 (my ideal, but I'm not sure it is realistic.)
2. Journal and post my food until I hit target and anytime I "drift" up while in maintainance mode. Sorry this is boring for everyone, but I don't seem to be accountable to just myself. :sad2:
3. Exercise at least 3-5X per week, even if it only for 30 minutes each time. Unless someone is deathly ill, I cannot keep making excuses for not doing this. I know that eating alone will not take the weight off for me.
4. Exercise a minimum of 750 minutes a month - this is so I don't wimp out and just do 30 minutes 3X a week:)

Mom and Dad don't have a reliable scale (I can make it swing 10 lbs, by shifting my feet!) so I won't weigh in until Sunday when I get home. I was 165 last friday before we left. Hopefully, it is not any higher now :scared1:

Hey Anna!
The resolutions look great!!! You can totally stick to them!!

It looks like you & I in the same boat....165-170 - goal 135-140!
We can totally do this!!

marie

Hi Anna,

Glad to hear that you had a good time in the mountains! You added some serious minutes to your January challenge.:thumbsup2 Way to go!:woohoo:

Your resolutions for 2007 look good. You CAN accomplish each and every one of them!:cheer2:

Have a great day tomorrow! TGIF!:cool1:

I think those are great goals for the year. And what an awesome way to start with all that hard exercise! :cheer2: Once you get back home and into a routine I bet the candy habit will go away. It's much easier when you are at your own house!

Hi Anna
Glad you had a great trip :) Any pics?
Your goals look good, & my birthday is July 1st so when you reach that goal weight i will have two excuses to celebrate! :)

Thanks everyone for your wonderful support for my Resolutions. I didn't want to make any that were not realistic. I think I need to add two more though.
5. Eat at least 3 fruits & veggies every day.
6. Drink at least 64 oz of water every day.
I am completely out of the habit in both of those areas.

Had a nice last day at mom & dad's on Friday and did the day long drive home yesterday. Today has been unpacking, laundry, getting ready for school tomorrow and starting to put Christmas away :sad1: Food has not been great. I actually did way better than I usually do for the long drive. There is a Baskin Robbins at the place where I always stop to get gas - and I didn't get anything! There is also a Krispy Kreme on the way out of town and another about 1/2 hr before getting home. I passed them both up. Of course, then I blew it at dinner. DH had made a really nice cobb salad and chocolate chip cookies - darned cookie dough! WI this morning was 166.0 :scared1: Could be worse, but I'm definitely not happy. I've got to get serious or my weight will climb back up.:sad2:

Friday
b- 2 small slices toast w/ whipped honey, 2 scrambled eggs, hot cocoa w/ peppermint marshmellow (yum!)
s- almond roca
l- serving spaghetti casserole, 2c salad w/ splash of olive oil & vinegar, banana, 1/4 pear
s- prune cookie (mom made these with DD3 - really tasty!)
d- serving spaghetti casserole, 2c salad, 1/2 avacado, small glass red wine
70 oz water

Saturday (driving)
b- 2 biscuits, 10 pistachios, apple
s- 9 mini pretzels, banana
l- whopper jr, 8 onion rings, medium Dr. Pepper
s- 4 fruit juice chewy things (resisted BR ice cream!)
d-big cobb salad, small glass wine, 8! cookies:scared1:
60 oz water

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marie - we do have the same goals and targets :)
Tracy - the mountains were a blast. I wish we could go more often.
Amy - It is much easier to be good at home. Mom and dad have some many tempting things to nibble on.
Tracey - I realized as we were driving down the mountain that I didn't take any pictures at all! :confused:
Anna, welcome home! Cookie dough is hard to resist! But at least he made a salad too. And way to go adding 240 minutes to the challenge. You are off to a great start! I am with you on the fruits and veggies thing. That is always tough for me. To me the best veggie is a twice baked potato! Don't worry, the scale will come back down, look at that number as temporary and a wake up call! Glad you had fun skiing, I haven't been in 20 years, wonder if I could do it again?
