My Freinds DH got called for active duty - leaves on Wed AM

One of my best friends DH is in reserves full time but got called for active duty last week and will be leaving in the morning for at least a year.

They have 2 DD's one almost 3 and a 6 year old in my DD's class. I had posted before that the 6 yo has recently been having a lot of problems when her Dad was leaving for just a short time. Now she has to try and adjust to this. It is hard for a six year old to get the concept of time. My friend is trying to find some activites for her for the spring and summer to keep her occupied. Please say a prayer for them.

Melinda, I am sorry to hear that your friends DH is being deployed. It is a rough time for so many these days.

I have a 6 yo DS who has been through my DH's (previous) deployments and it is so important for the kids to get all the support they can. Something that may be helpful for your friend to do since the child has had difficulties is to talk to the school and see if they can incorporate some classroom discussions about what is going on. With all of the deployments at our base our school has decided to do just that to help eliminate some of the children's anxieties.

That is really going to be hard on these two girls. A year is unbelievably long in the life of a child. I really feel for them. War is never cheap and sometimes it seems like the youngest of our citizens are forced to pay the highest emtional price.

Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. It brings tears to my eyes to see their DD so upset. She is very sensitive and really misses her Daddy when he is gone.

She told me yesterday that she is going to fly in an airplane to go and see him anytime she wants when he gets wherever he is going.

That brings tears to my eyes. I feel so bad for all the children that have to cope with thiis. Not only the separation, but also worrying if mommy or daddy will be coming home.
