I'm new at this trip report thing, and i won't be posting much if anything here while in the med, but do plan on righting a nice summary when I return. for a play by play check out my blog

I must say that I love the helpfulness and disney attitude that I always get while on these boards. they have been invaluable in my planning and I can't wait to get home and write my very first trip report!!!!

Thanks for posting the link to your blog. I particularly enjoy reading the pre-planning / getting ready to go reports because we'll be going (leaving home in 6 weeks!) and I know there are things I'll either forget or not know to be sure to do. Have a safe trip and loads of fun!

Hi everyone! I am sitting in my hotel in Barcelona. We had a wonderful day here --once were were off the plane. We were able to take a bus for 3,90E to about 2 blocks from out hotel --which saved us a good bit of money.

Today we walked las ramblas and stroled through Bari Gotica seeing the Cathedral and some other beautiful old buildings. Then we did a tour of Casa Batllo'. We then pushed ourselves and walked to la sagrada. I would not suggest walking that from las ramblas area esp if you have already been walking a lot. all in all a wonderful day.

we have free access here so if you have questions i'll be able to check tomorrow and maybe wed before we leave for the port.

good night

Thanks for the link to your blog. I've put it in my favorites and will be cking in on a regular basis.

Have a great time and look forward to hearing all the details. :thumbsup2

Thanks for starting a trip report and posting the link to your blog. We are a month away from our Magical Med cruise so I can promise you I will be hanging on your every word, and begging for more!!! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful time!

Hi funnybunny, Glad you arrived in BCN safely! Thanks for the info so far, and I look forward to your trip report and will be following you blog!

Can you tell me - is there a dress code for la sagrada? covered knees and shoulders?

Also, would love to here info on restaurants/cafe's - names and street/address if possible - that you would recommend.

I see you took the aerobus from the airport. Were taxis plentiful? Did you see a lot of mini-van size taxis - for the 4 of us with luggage? We are staying in an apartment near the Arc de Triomf and are trying to figure out transportation for when we arrive.

Thanks in advance for your reply. Have a very MAGICAL MED CRUISE!

Take care,
Sherri

P.S. - HI DEB T. - are you counting down the days like me? 33 days until it is OUR TURN!!

we didn't go into la sagrada, but there was some one checking at the cathedral that your knees and shoulders were covered.

we ate lunch at one of the less expensive places on placa reial. I know people say not to eat on las ramblas but the places here looked good. the one we wanted to try was not open on mondays though. (many things were closed yesterday)

I did see a LOT of cabs and we were told by the lady at the tourism desk that to our hotel it should cost about 30E for 2 people. I didn't notice if there were any minivan types but if it is 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) you might fit in a sedan. they were "normal" cab sized it seemed.

Funny story about the airport and finding a ride. when we came out we immediatly saw a sign for the folks that we are sharing a tour with in naples. We knew we were getting in on the same day, but it's too bad we didn't have a chance to meet.

I would say if you are confused at all when you are at the air port after you've picked up luggage go to the tourism desk. they were friendly informitive and spoke english.

more later.

We fly into Heathrow and only have 1 hour 50 minutes to get from terminal 4 to terminal 1. I am so worried about this. Do you think we will be okay time wise? I got a printout of the directions to get from terminal 4 to terminal 1 but it looks very complicated. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

make sure you luggage is checked through and that your 1 carry on will fit. our rollers wouldn't fit they were a little too big but we have a larger carry on size.

Already enjoying your blog. Please post excursion reports! Have a great time, you'll be getting off as I get on the ship!!!!

If your bags are checked through you need about 30-40 minutes to get from terminal 1 to 4. You have two choices - you can take the bus - or you can take the "free" train. The signs for both are fairly well marked. If you hit the train just right it is the faster of the two options. there is a lot of walking regardless of which option you choose so be prepared (light carryons!). I've made it in under a half hour - but that was "running" and cutting lines! As long as you don't have to pick up your bags - and they are checked through you should be fine.

Hi everyone I will work on that trip report but right now you can find a link on my blog to our snapfish albums. we have loaded everything but the last 2 days. over 1500 so far.

I hope someone reads this....

ok, I have made a slide show to go along with my report you can find it here. If you want to see all the pics just PM me i can get you a link to them. Sorry if you don't have a snapfish account, but thats what we use...

So let's start at the very begining, a very good place to start (and now a favorite musical is running through my head)

Cast:
Me, Sarah 25
DH, Bill 26
Small cast but we make up for it with character.

Now I had known about the Med cruises since it was annouced and i followed the craziness that ensued when they opened it for booking. I have wanted to do a Disney cruise since they started, but until not too long ago the price was too high for a poor in college or just out of college student. So I started (summer of 2006) looking at other options to tour a bit of Europe in 2007. We considered ABD when it first came out, but the cruise seemed about as affordable, we looked at rick steves tours we looked at doing stuff on our own and hiring guides in the cities.... but as a disney "freak" (Dh's term for me not mine) I kept coming back the to cruise. What if we did most of the excursions on our own, what if we just booked a cat 12 on one of the less popular dates....

By December, we had booked through Dreams Unlimited. and then I started planning... which means I was hanging out here ... a lot. now there is something to know about me... For me the planning is almost more fun than the trip (it isn't in the end but I really love it). But I also get really depressed after trips if i don't have something to look forward to. So we booked this trip with another on the way for Christmas. The compromise was that after the DCL trip I couldn't plan anything for a while. Fair enough, at the time b/c now I am itching to plan, and away I went.

ok I have to get back to work so I will continue later.
