My first attempts at Selective Coloring... and now others' pics too!

Here's one from our wedding at Seabreeze Pointe in December 2004. Cindy's carriage was a bit too expensive but a Boardwalk 6 passenger surrey bike was just right!

Here's one I did a few months ago. This was taken at Deal's Gap in Tennessee. You can click on the pic for a higher res version.

Thanks! I wasn't sure about that one, because the car is black and so it didn't change much... but even the subtle difference looked cool I thought!

I just love this one!!! Great Job!

I've worked with the greeter that is with the Seven Dwarfs!! I never thought I would see someone I worked with in a photo other than on mine! Here is another of her, but sorry, no selective coloring, just a little excited!!

Someone please critique this! Does the film grain I added look cool, or does it just look like noise? Any other tips?

It is very nice.
Film grain is not very noticable to me, maybe if you post a larger image.
If the subject has colored eyes, did you try colorizing them to see if it helped the image?

Thanks! Actually, I had thought about colorizing her eyes because they are rather unusual--kind of blue, green and gold--but I wasn't sure how much to select. Do you just select the iris, or do you go all the way around the eyes?

Here it is with the eyes colored. I boosted the saturation a bit to make them pop out more.

That is what I would have done, but the saturation also go up on th wizards hat. I would take the saturation down on the hat and maybe spread out some of the blue in her eyes.

Hope you dont mind, not perfect but you get the idea is to draw attention to her eyes not the hat.

These are great...

How do you take down the saturation on just the hat (or a specific item) and not a whole picture?

With the selection tool(rectangle).

Make a selection and any adjustments will only be applied to the area inside that selection.

Thanks. I thought it had to be done to the whole picture.

Thanks! I like the idea of desaturating the hat a little to draw attention to her eyes.

Scottish Heritage and Music Festival, Knoxville, TN. Heavy Athletics Demonstration. I added blur, grain, scratches, et cetera. Just playing with 'Shop. Not sure I like what appears to be a halo around him, but I'm not sure if that's just my monitors (they're both kind of old).

WOW!

Thanks, Jennifer for the link to the selective coloring tutorial. I've spent a little time playing with it. I had to run out to my garden to shoot a few flowers to start with.
