My dog was poisoned by my neighbor on purpose

Champ shoul be released today! Thankyou all for your prayers and kind thoughts. For some reason when I try to post longer post I get bumped off.

Another pet from a different neighbor died yesterday with the same symptoms of poisoning. No my dog does not run loose and rampant throughout my neighborhood. No I am not a troll. I have lived here for 17 years. I have a pen but due to excessive rain 3-6 inches every other week for the past few months I did not want to expose Champ to drowning or the elements. I do let my dog wander my 5 acre lot to releive himself. It is also hard to find any poison tossed in my yard due to the rain. I will post more later.

I didn't read all the post, but I'm so so glad that your doggie is doing better. As a dog lover and owner i can't even imagine what would I do if someone does that to my puppies. I would never understand evil people that have the heart to hurt animals :( they have no heart I should say. I had a neighbor that had a pitbull and she was always wandering around getting in trouble, stealing toys, chasing my cats and I just talked to her owners, she wasn't mean, but never in a millons years I would had hurt her, even if she was mean.

You guys should do something about that person.

I am so happy to hear your dog will get to come home today! :woohoo:

That neighbor needs to be locked up. Target practice when the kids get home? She sounds very unstable based on your statements. I would be extremely concerned and making a HUGE racket to get to the bottom of whats going on, QUICKLY.

I will continue to keep positive thoughts for your doggie.

Glad to hear that Champ is doing better :goodvibes

We have a boxer named Champ and he is our world, if someone did something like that to my Champ I would consider poisoning the person responsible. Not saying I would do it but I would sure think about it

So glad your dog is going to be fine; hope something is done about your neighbor soon!

..........................loved the elephant story..................and if someone poisoned my dog........i would go over to their house and the conversation would start like this..........which hospitol would you like to be taken to..................;)

Wow, just WOW.

OP, were all three of the poisoned dogs allowed to roam free? If so, and with all the rain you say you've been having, is there a chance that there is a nearby creek or stream that may have gotten contaminated somehow?

I remember when I was younger, someone was going around poisoning dogs in the neighborhood. My aunt and uncle lost a beautiful Irish Setter. I don't even know if the person responsible was ever apprehended and I often thought about it thru the years. Who would do such a thing? I'd imagine the same people who would take someone's life without batting an eye. Surprisingly, even after it happens thousands upon thousands of times, we're still shocked by such behavior.

I hope you're able to prove the neighbor did this, and I hope she's held accountable to the highest level allowed by the law in your state. IMO, she doesn't sound like someone who should be free to be amongst law abiding citizens. She's clearly a danger to society.

Why? I would think about it too.

I don't see anything wrong with thinking about it either.

Last year 2 boys attacked my son. They weren't boys really, one was like 22, the other being 26. They felt entitled since they heard my son called their 16 year old sister a word that begins with a B. My son had to pull the yearbook out to even find out who the sister was and is adamant he didn't know her, let alone call her anything (not that it matters really - the family was fairly new to the area after relocating here from Baltimore). By their standard, calling someone a B was justification for 2 grown men to attack a boy? I think they can thank their lucky star that the courts aren't as intolerable because by their standard of measuring due punishment, surely physically assaulting someone should have yielded something close to death, right?

I won't even mention on a public forum some of the thoughts that went thru my head.

I am so very happy to hear Champ is doing better. I hope they can solve this mystery that seems pretty clear on who is the poisoner.

Glad to hear Champ is doing better. I hope they follow through with the potential poisioner!

I found a story on cnn this morning about dogs were poisoned by meatballs in Spokane. Sad story.

I never thought so many people would want to get rid of their neighbors dogs.

I've heard, especially for children, that torturing or killing animals is one of the 'unholy triad' of behaviors that are pre-indicators of major felonies like murder or serial-crimes.

agnes!

Excuse me? Did you just give us a link to a story about a dog that YOU poisoned? I really hope that is a typo!!!

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a leap to say that because someone threatened to shoot an animal that they'd turn around and poison them instead.

After Champ recovers--and I'm glad to hear that he is--I'd keep him away other people's property. And I'd keep him on a leash or confined inside a fenced yard. That will solve the problem of any neighbor either shooting or poisoning your dog.

Ditto.

I'd like to hear more details, too. For all we know the neighbor has fertilizer and chemicals on their lawn that are poisonous to animals. The neighbor may have warned other people in the neighborhood to keep their animals off the lawn until the chemical have dried, but some dog-owners could feel that their animal's right to roam freely trumps other people's right to have nice lawns and gardens. I totally agree. :thumbsup2 As much as I love animals, I won't allow myself to get all emotionally upset over a situation that could be as simple as the one I described above.

I'd be angrier at the dog-owner for not looking after the health and welfare of their pet rather than at the neighbor for dutifully warning the neighborhood that their yard was off-limits as a toilet and playground for a few hours or days.

i want to comment on this. years ago, we had a huge rain storm (flooded parts of our yard). two neighborhood dogs (one was mine) ended up in the emergency animal hospital with the same symptoms. the only thing we can think is that something harmful from someone's else's lawn washed into our yards. NEITHER of our dogs left our yards. my dogs do not roam around the neighborhood. both dogs made it, but we were VERY close to losing our pet. (buddy is now 12 years old)

it isn't always negligence on the owner's part.

but could something similar be the case here? the OP said they've had a lot of rain. just a thought.
