We got back from Disney last week and here is quick review of our TS meals.

The cast:
Me (mom) ::MinnieMo
My Husband (dad):smickey:
My Daughter (4 years old):tinker:
My Mom (Grandma):donald:
My Dad (Grandpa):tigger:
And nobody except dd is a picky eater!

Day 1 - Dinner at Ohana's - The view of the castle was beautiful, we really enjoyed that. This meal is family style so first we got chicken wings (we all didn't enjoy the sauce on the wings), shrimp (not very flavourful), homemade chips (yuk), green salad (very fresh), scalloped potatoes (I hated them but everyone else liked them), Stir fried vegetables (yummy). Then we were offered a variety of meats. The turkey was the best, the sausage was a bit spicy, the pork was okay, and the steak was a bit dry. Now dessert was the bread pudding with banana sauce......YUMMY!!!!! We would probably try this place again on our next trip just because dessert was so good and the view was excellent!
Sorry, no pics for this one.

Day 2 - Breakfast at Ohana's (character meal with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Pluto)
The character interact was very good, dd really enjoyed it. We were seated near the front which is not a good area. This meal again was family style and they brought us fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles and some breakfast breads. The food was just okay. If you don't want to see the characters, go elsewhere for breakfast.

Dinner at Coral Reef
- For appetizer 2 had the sea/land (very small portion and overall not that great), I had the lobster bisque (delicious), and grandpa had the fish chowder (good). Main courses my mom and I had the mahi mahi and it was so good. Dh and my dad had the tuna and they both were not impressed. DD had the grilled chicken breast and she enjoyed it. For dessert I had the cheesecake and everyone else had the chocolate wave, and dd made her own saundae...all desserst were good.

Day 3 - Akershus - Princess character breakfast
The character (princess) interaction was good. We met and took a picture in the front with Belle. Breakfast was family style and the same as Ohana's, eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, etc. There was also a buffet that had fruits and breakfast breads.
The other princesses there were Ariel, Snow White, Mulan, Jasmine, and Aurora. If you want to see the Princesses I would say go, if you don't go eat breakfast elsewhere. Food was a bit cold.

Dinner - Marrakesh - For appetizer I had the chicken bastilla, comepletely gross. It is ground chicken in a fried pastry and sprinkled with cinnamon, just wrong! The other adults had the seafood bastilla and they said it was just okay. Then myself and my dad had a fish fillet dish (forget the name) and the fish was good but it only came with two small sliced potatoes and that's it. My mom had a chicken dish and all it was was chicken, no rice, no nothing, weird. Dh ahd the shish kebab and he said it was very good. DD had the meatball and spagetti and she enjoyed it. For dessert my mom tried the Symphony (assorted pastries) and she did not enjoy it. The rest of us had the bastilla and it was sooooo good.....go just for dessert and maybe for the belly dancers..LOL

Day 4 - Breakfast at Kona Cafe
Kona Delight was very good (berries and yogurt)
Tonga Toast was good but not the greatest liek everyone around here has posted.
French Toast was good.
Smoothies were great
Mickey pancakes - dd enjoyed them.
Overall good.

Dinner at 1900 Park Fare - character meal
Met the fairy godmother at the front and inside was Cinderella, the prince, the two little mice. Good interaction.
The was buffet and overall very good. You must try the strawbery soup, yummy! We would definately go back here for the food.

Day 5 - Breakfast at Crystal Palace - character meal
The interaction was just okay, it felt rushed here.
The food was the best buffet (breakfast) we had. Will defiantely go back.

Dinner at Chef Mickey - charcter meal
The interaction was good.
Dinner was buffet and it was just okay. Not too much choice and there were things that did not look appealing.

Here is a pic of one of the desserts:

Day 6 - Breakfast at CRT
DD loved this one!
We met Cinderella downstairs and upstairs was the fairy godmother, belle, snow white and jasmine.
There was an assortment of breakfast breads and fruits and then there was fruit & yogurt plate and then a pre-plated eggs, bacon plate. The fruit and yogurt was very very good. The other plate was a bit cold and not very tasty.

Dinner at Whispering Caynon Cafe

Terrible, terrible service. Rude waitresses that yell and make stupied jokes and throw things at you . Sorry not my kind of humour b/c its just plain rude. The nachos were good, the salad was a bit brown (yuck), the chicken chowder was nasty. The chicken pasta was just okay, the skillet thing not the greastest, and teh fish of teh day was just okay. The smore cheesecake was very rich and sweet, the choc cake was good and so was the apple pie. I would not go back here.

Day 7 - Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine - character meal
Character interact was good.
The breakfast buffet was the worst.

These were the waffles there.....the only good thing

Dinner at Concourse Steakhouse
We had the best waitress ever!!! Loved here.
But the lobster bisque here was not as good as the one at coral reef. The onion soup was good. The prime rib was not the greatest, teh sirloin was very good and the shrimp pasta was also very good.
Do not order the carrot cake, it is all icing. There is more icing than cake. Cheesecake and choc cake was all good.

Here is a pic of teh cappuccino

I hope this helps

That is A LOT of character meals!

So which one was best?

Your daughter is just beautiful! Sorry the food wasn't so good during your trip.

I wanted to know about Hollywood and Vine Character meal. We were planning on eating there in Oct for breakfast, but by your report it was not good. Can you tell me about it? I don't know if we should go now.
Thanks so much.

The food there wasn't the greatest but your usual breakfast buffet items, nothing more. I hated our extremely slow waitress and she billed me incorrectly and didn't apologize just said that she didn't know how to fix it and she was going to call the manager. I waited forever! There was also just 4 characters. I would rather do Crystal Palace again then do Hollywood & Vine.

So which one was best?

LOL......Thanks:love:

It was dd's first Disney trip so I wanted her to get to see a lot of characters and the character meals was the way to go and I would definately do that again. Even though the food may not be the greatest, you forget about that when you see your kids face light up when her fave characters hug her!

My fave character meal for food was Crystal Palace......for the characters and atmosphere CRT but a close second is definately 1900 Park Fare!
:wizard:

If you had to choose just one of the princess breakfast, which would you choose?

I would definately pick CRT b/c the castle makes it so much more special. That was dd's fave and she got a wishing star and a wand and then they did a little skit where they tell everyone to hold up their wands and close their eyes and make a wish and when we open our eyes there are twinkling lights, dd loved it! So that would have to be my pick.

I think the picture of your daughter with Eeyore and her stuffed Piglet is wonderful!

Thank you for sharing. I really need one of those cappuccino (sp?)...Right now! :coffee: Everytime I see coffee, I want it, and that looks especially yummy!

I am interested to know whether your review of Whispering Canyon was clouded by the fact that you did not enjoy the atmosphere/antics. If it were a 'normal' restaurant, would you go back - or was the food really that bad as well.
