I had all of them saved on a disc, uploaded to my hubby's laptop. Well my hubby way too excited about the Saints win dumped his beer on the laptop. Needless to say, the laptop is history. Now I can't find the disc anywhere. This was my 1st trip & my boys 1st trip. My mother in law had the photo pass & those pics were saved to my disc also. I believe I have torn my house upside down looking for this disc with no avail. I want to cry. Ok rant over lol.

Oh no!

My dad did the same thing except he sat [somehow] on the cd that had his retirement from the navy pictures on it. D:

No I haven't moved. I know they are here SOMEWHERE. I'll be a happy mommy when I can find that disc though!

You should download to a site like Shutterfly, then you always have a backup outside your house.

It never fails, you will always find it in the last place you look.:duck:

so let's brainstorm.

Do you scrapbook? Would you have it stashed in an album or filed away with other pictures.
do you have a CD case that you keep these things in? In the living room/ tv room/ office?
do you have a safe?
wold it be with your disney memorabilia that you kept from the trip?

OK from DH. I asked if you could recover the info from the Hard drive.
Here is his answer.

you'd probably need to remove the drive, but most likely yes
ETA: he's a computer guy that recovered 30,000 photos when my computer ate them.

I do scrapbook, but never got around to print out the pictures. One of those, I'll get to it & never did. I have checked where I usually keep my cd's & nope not there. No safe. Next thing is to ask the hubbs where he stashed it at. He's famous for "cleaning up" and I can't ever find anything.

He removed something from the laptop, not sure what it was though lol. If it was the hard drive how do I put that on my desktop?

Thanks so much!!!

I moved a few weeks after returning from my very 1st ever cruise. We sailed the Disney Magic. I attempted to pack my photos from the trip so they wouldn't get lost. That was the last time I ever saw them. That was almost 6 years ago. I can't find them anywhere. :confused3

If you or your DH aren't particularly techno savvy, I'd recommend turning the hard drive over to someone who is and have them pull the data off the hard drive for you. Maybe you could even have them make a special disk with just the photos.

I might just do that if I can't find the disc. I'm pretty computer smart when it comes to certain things, but messing with hard drives is way beyond me. Somehow I managed to uninstally my disc drive on my computer & still can't figure out how to get it back. This was over a year ago!

You can take the hard drive out of the laptop pretty easily by unscrewing four little screws on the bottom of the laptop and popping it out. There is a special adapter you can use to turn the hard drive into a USB drive and then you can save all your files to another computer.

I bought the adapter from CompUSA, but they should have them most places that carry computers. The one I have is called "USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA cable adapter". I think it cost about $25. You could also take the laptop to a computer place and ask them to do it. They could charge up to $100 though.

Bernard here...

If the harddrive has already been removed from the laptop, you'll need an external USB enclosure to put it in so that you can access it from another computer.

Here's an example of an inexpensive one:

http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/USB2/OWC_Express

That one's pretty basic, but probably all you need. You can usually find something similar at Best Buy etc., but you'll probably pay a bit more.

Once you have the drive installed into the new enclosure, you should be able to just connect it to another computer via USB and browse the contents, save off to another location, etc..

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

oh thank you thank you thank you!!!! I will definitely let you all know how it works out!!!!

he beat me to it ^ lol

if he spilled beer on it, the harddrive should be okay.. it's inside the laptop, after all..

DH said if you can't figure it out, don't spend the money to get someone to recover the photos. Send it to us and we'll get them for you.

PM me if you want my address. And a list of things to recover.

And I feel your pain, when I lost my photos I cried for days. It took DH 3 days to recover them and I got about 85 - 90% of them back.

awwwwwwwwwww thank you so much!!!!! I REALLY appreciate that! If after a week I can't find my disc, I will get back with you!!!

Give the laptop some time.. one of my day care kids dumped a whole glass of juice into mine last month.. I have nothing backed up. I took the battery out and turned upside down and put a towel under it.

About 4-5 later I got it to come back up.. I am using it now.. My CD drive no longer worked but otherwise I am ok. I still need to back it up.
