My DH will never learn

I was recently in a similar situation to OP so can empathize. For my bday, dh gave me a $400 gift card to a chain picture place to get pictures of DS, 9 months . Many reasons I hated gift: (1) I asked for NO GIFT, b/c I went away for girls' wine weekend which cost money; (2) we just had school pix of DS (they do school pix twice - yes you read that right- twice a year), family pix of all of us at WDW at WL, and I had a free package for pix at Walmart b/c of a screw up on last pix of DS; (3) he knows I HATE having a lot of money spent; (4) if we were to spend that amount of money, he knows how badly I wanted a freezer or a dishwasher. So, instead, I got something I didn't need for too much money and he knows I stress about bills. I tried returning it but couldn't. So, we're getting Christmas pix done and I'm sure taking DS's pix until he's 35 for that amount of money.

I was going to suggest the 5 love languages book but someone beat me to it.

Money issues are rarely actually about money...they're about inadequacies, communication problems, different values...

If you don't get to the "why's" of why he does what he does and why you do what you do, the pattern will simply persist.

And to whoever said men can be clueless about money...it goes both ways.
