We didn't realize until 8:30 PM last Wednesday night that MS had been open since 4:00. We were on the monorail for a last time of the trip ride for our 4 year old and noticed lots of activity. We ran to MS and he was able to ride with only a 20 minute wait! Unfortunately by the time he got off it was 9:03 and I was unable to child swap and try it but that's okay now I have an excuse to go back ;) He enjoyed it and said it didn't make him feel at all motion sick. He particularly enjoyed lift off. The exit to the ride (where the gift shop is) has lots of interactive games and a large play area where kids can climb in a spaceship (beware you can't see them very well as it is dimly lit and parents aren't encouraged to "play" only rescue if needed. My 4 year old LOVED it but it was hard to talk to him and see where he was.

We just returned so I don't know if any one else has posted this but apparently MS was open from 4PM-9PM several days last week. Any question?? :)

I can't wait to experience this attraction. Thanks for letting us know that it has been open for a few hours everyday. I'll have to wait until my August trip to see what it is like.

We rode last week and WOW>................. What an awesome experience although we had to sit down afterwards to collect ourselves!! Definitely not a ride for claustrophobic people or those with motion sickness. As long as you focus straight ahead on the screen, it's incredible. Feels like your face is being sucked behing your ears as the blastoff takes place.....quite a feeling!!
Don't miss this ride if given the opportunity. We felt really lucky to get the sneak peek!

We were fortunate enough to be able to ride Mission: Space last Thursday evening and all I can say "Incredible". This is sure to be my new favorite ride at WDW. I can't wait to return in September so I can ride it again.

I had no problems with any tyoe of motion sickness, which is surprising. I can't even play 3-D computer games without getting sick, but M:S was no trouble at all. I was a little wobbly when the ride was over, but that passed in just a few minutes. My S.O., on the other hand, didn't listen to the pre-flight instruction about always looking straight ahead, not side to side. He said he looked at me once and was immediately plagued by mild nausea for the rest of the ride. Nothing serious and definitely not bad enough to keep either of us from riding it again, the next time we go to WDW.

We can't WAIT for 9/17 to get here !!!!!!

Thanks for the MS info, I been anxiously waiting for it to open
we're going in October.
Do you know what the height requirement is?

DH, DD & DS rode it last friday. DD & DS loved it (15 & 11 yrs). DH came off and looked terrible! He had to sit down for a good 1/2 hour, I think the close quarters got to him. He is a pretty big guy and there is no room to move.

We rode it last Monday night (June 9), DS 10 loved it, DD 8 didn't. My DH and I eaten dinner an hour earlier, what a mistake! We both felt very sick afterwards, I had to sit down for 20 minutes to get my bearings. Do Not ride on a full stomach. DH calls it Mission to Motion Sickness in Space.

Having said that, we were still thrilled to have at least tried it. Monday was the first day they were letting guests on. We looked each time we went to Epcot as DS wanted to ride again, but it wasn't open at those times.

We will be there next week and we are all hoping to get to ride! At least I think so, I'm a little concerned about the tight quarters. Once the ride starts I am hoping that there is plenty to keep me from thinking about the lack of room.

How is the seating on the ride? Is it tight, or will us big guys be able to fit OK? Is leg room cramped?

We were at Epcot last Friday and Sunday, but didn't see it open. We talked to a CM in the ice cream shop on the BW and talked about the attraction. She said she hadn't ridden it, but a number of her friends that worked at Epcot had. She said their reactions were identical... "It was the COOLEST ride I've ever been on... but I threw up afterwards." The CM said her friend's call MS the "Twirl-n-Hurl". Sounds like the Imagineers need to tone it down a bit, or install a Romanesque "vomitorium" at the exit. Either way, it bears watching.

People have mentioned the ride is caustrophobic,. I was just wondering if someone could compare the spacial relations to any other rides in the park, or in general. I don't mind crazy rides, but i'm a bit nervous about the claustrophobic aspect.

We were in Epcot on Saturday, but it wasn't apparently open. We rode Test Track and looked over there, but nothing was going on. We will be going back to WDW this Friday and Sunday, so I will make sure to peak in and see if sneak peaks are available!

Having ridden the ride I can truthfully say that there is nothing else like it at WDW. It is claustraphobic (sp?). You are in a four person capsule, you sit in individual seats and pull down a rigid harness, when the ride starts, the panel in front of you descends and you are sealed in, you can't see much of the people next to you and the front panel is an arm length away from your face, you watch your individual screen and don't look around because that makes the motion sickness worse. It is very intense and very tight quarters. My DD 8 held my hand the whole time because she felt very alone even though the other three people in the capsule where her family, she just couldn't see them.

If they can keep everyone from getting motion sickness, it will be a great attraction.

what is the MAXIMUM height limit, if any?

I read over on the rumor board that there is a height and weight min and max. They said you had to be under 300 lbs and under 6'6" ...

Of course, that is why it's on the "rumor" board.

I am 6'9", so I hope they are wrong, otherwise I'll have to try slouching.

One thing that makes me think this is false though (from a weight perspective) is: what, do they make you stand on a scale?

Can anyone that's been on the ride comment on any limits?

donkey shines,
Gregg

UGH!!!!! I was THERE last Wednesday morning and had no clue it was going to be open that night. DOUBLE UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am beyond disgust with myself right now.

We rode it about a week ago. Just got back!

It was very tight quarters and I was a little frightened at first.

Here is what happens. You are seated in a row of four seats and then you pull down the harness seat belt thing. If you reach out you can touch the display panel in front of you, and the top of the capsule. You are in a capsule so the side doors close. It is like being in a small lighted closet. This is where it started to get to me. It reminded me of being in an MRI -

I kept thinking what if the ride breaks down right now - How will I know - what if the doors get stuck - there is no room - You could see nothing but the inside of this capsule - you could hear nothing but the beeping of the panel and the ride harness will not release. I kept telling myself that it really doesn't matter because I am here and stuck. The time between when I sat down and when the ride began was probably about two to three minutes - it seemed longer. The ride itself has been described by others - it made me sick. I didn't throw up but I didn't fell good for several hours.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but is this ride a simulator ride or does the capsule actually move on a track?

I am trying to get the whole picture! :)

It is a G-force machine with 10 capsules (like an octopus arm). There is a simulator screen in front of each person.

Well...MS is out for me - I am major claustrophobic! Just reading Plan Man's description made me feel claustrophobic.
